Anything good to buy right now that is around $15? I have a little over $5 expiring tonight... Everything seems to be overpriced due to their 100% cashback thing...

All my "saved for later" items are at full list price right now. These are from the deals page and mildly interesting:

Multimeter that's probably a step up from the HF freebie. $13.32

Magnetic tray. $7.77

Accutire tire gauge. $9.99 $10 is the current street price but I like this gauge and have used one for years.

10 pc. socket set. $11.10 10% off with "thankYOU". I was fortunate to grab a couple of these before they went China.

I sent the FROSTY text this morning, but received a reply that the offer is expired. :(

Existing coupons still work; they've just stopped sending new ones.

No soup for you. :(

Too late for Jason since that was last night, but these tool bags (the larger/sturdier pair) are on sale today for $15.96 (-10% if you can use the coupon):
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-tool-bag-combo/p-00927851000P

And I'm thinking about getting some of the recently-rereleased Craftsman electrical testers... no reviews yet on the new incarnations, but they look good.

$12.96 sale, $19.99 regularly https://www.sears.com/craftsman-non-contact-voltage-tester-ac11/p-A028632394

$14.99 regularly https://www.sears.com/craftsman-cm-7waytester/p-A028632592

I was able to buy these BOTH in-store tonight for $11.99 each! (Minus my $10 'Frosty' coupon on one, and minus my $10 sweeps freecash on the other.) The AC11 non-contact voltage tester is on an in-store sale that I think ends tomorrow, and the 7-way tester was a pricing mistake (outdated sign that the cashier matched).

any lowe's GC purchase goes back as "store credit" which then can't be used online and has the ID requirement.

Not sure what you are saying here - if you order online, use a gift card, and the order is canceled or not picked up, they send a new gift card that can be used online or instore.

If you make an in-store purchase with a gift card and return that item, they also give you a new gift card that can be used online or in-store.

The only case I have found where they give you a store credit is a non-receipt return of a cash purchase.

Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores (SHOS) is a separate corporation from Sears Holdings (SHLD). SHLD is the one that owns the regular Sears stores (the huge ones that are mostly in malls). When a Hometown store "goes back to corporate", SHOS temporarily buys it back from the franchisee and continues to operate it until they can find a new buyer.

Yeah, and they've got the employees convinced even if Sears goes bankrupt the Hometown Stores will be ok "because they're a different corporation" (this was his argument to me when I said no way I'd be buying a Sears franchise right now).

I'm sure *technically* he's right. In reality if Sears proper goes belly-up the Hometown Stores are gonna struggle. I suppose the sale of Craftsman might help that name stay around......but what's going on w Kenmore?

Regardless, it's like saying not to worry about Lexus if Toyota closes its doors.

Really my point is that I find it amusing (and sad) Hometown stores are sticking their heads in the sand and choosing to believe everything will be fine if Sears goes away for good.

I spoke with a long time employee of a Hometown store in Indiana back in October, a few days after Sears filed Chapter 11. She said they had already shifted much of their supply chain to Stanley and expected to shortly be able to access more products than Sears had recently been able to offer. She claimed that Hometown was testing in a few of their stores new point of sale software that would allow them to no longer have to use Sears old system.

Based on that, I’m not certain it’s fair to claim they are unaware of what is happening.

I know the owner of the local Hometown store, I got the same story. They think they'll go to being mostly an appliance store, which is where their major income comes from now. They have (the hometown corporation) buying agreements in place to start buying appliances directly from the manufacturers and bypassing Sears corporate as soon as Sears goes out of business. They will also work at expanding buying opportunities on tools and lawn mowers and such, so that they can continue to offer a similar range of stuff that they do now. Their take on it is they won't have to compete with the goofy pricing of Sears online that is cutting into their sales now.

Great, sounds like they are more prepared than it looks from the outside. :)

Someone on SD said they used their in-store coupon on Craftsman mechanic's gloves... I assume it was this one... which they say is made by Mechanix and has a watermark inside the package to prove it:
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-mechanics-glove/p-009VA80810112P
$10.96 online sale, $9.99 in-store sale, $19.99 regularly
sales end tomorrow 12/7

I am not sure if it is made by Mechanix, but I can say that I really like this gloves. Great deal at that price, especially if using $10 freecash from weekly sweeps.

I think this is the new three piece pry bar made in India that I saw a week or two ago. Take a look at the picture, it is like someone just prop this on a wall and take a picture.

I just checked on the gloves. Only available in medium and XL. I have a pair of those and they are good gloves.
That is bad on the picture of the pry bars. I looked at them at the Hometown store last week. They look like the ones sold for $10.96 as a 4pc set at HF, but don't know COO of those.

More like saying not to worry about Toyota if GM closes its doors.

Hometown and SHC are separate companies that simply happen to share the same brand name.

For only a few dollars more the USA made ones with the strike cap are currently available.

mine don't show a mechanix logo either. theyre ok gloves, but i prefer a back strap--the front band keeps catching on everything.

This seems like a decent deal at 6.99 + 10% off.

I'm so lost! Am I supposed to be seeing the 100% cashback (up to $30) on everything? It's not showing up for me. Does this mean that I used this promo already?

For anyone considering the Craftsman 5pc Ratcheting Tap and Die Set, I used mine yesterday and it's fantastic.

Compared to the cheap tap handles included in tap & dies sets, this is more comfortable, stays tight on the tap, and provides more flexibility when it comes to positioning when cutting threads.

At $38.67 right now w/10% off, it's more than the Gearwrench version on Amazon, but points and F&F starting tomorrow make it less OOP for many.

A couple of folks reported loose reversing levers on the GW version. On my Cman version, it's tight and flips nicely.

I do recommend checking the ratcheting mechanism, as it was jamming occasionally when turning on the first set I got (store replaced it with another set).

It can only be used once per person. If you have paid any amount OOP for anything from Sears in the past week, you already used up your chance at it.

Hey, the exact same thing happened to me with the 7-way tester today. It rang up $14.99 but the hanger said $11.99 (not a sale). The guy said it was a different one, but that he'd match it for me. I'm not sure what's going on. Honestly, I'm not sure what it does yet, but it's different than what I have already so I bought it for $1.99 after the $10 text coupon. I like that you can test GFCI outlets with it, or so it says.

Interesting that another store had the same issue. There were no other pegs in the electrical area with more appropriate prices, and the pricetag did say 7-Way Tester, IIRC. It's probably a price left from the previous version of the product, and the skeleton crew left at corporate headquarters never got around to putting an updated pricetag into the queue for store employees to print out.

Two of my orders are at store awaiting pick up and they both show processing still. :lol_hitti

I have two cancelled orders that still say 'processing' on the website too. The databases aren't entirely talking to each other anymore. I did get a phone call from the Sears automated phone system yesterday, a week after the more recent cancellation was supposedly done in chat, which I'm hoping is a sign that the refund the chat guy claimed I would get in 1-2 weeks will actually be happening. (They sent me a free replacement item and said I would also be getting a partial refund.) We'll see...

I just got the 20.5" rolling wedge pry bar in the mail but it's actually 16". The part number matches so I think the website description is just wrong. Did anyone that ordered it actually get a 20.5" bar?

My discussion with the chat guy was supposed to cancel an in-processing order from late Nov then reorder the item with free shipping. Got an email this week to cancel it myself or pickup. So one got delivered via mail and i'll give the other to my son for xmas. All good.

Ha, I got so distracted by the trouble getting that item (first was a damaged return that never should have been put back on the shelf, chat reordered it) that I never measured it! They are both only 16". Must be a product page mistake, it's definitely the right/only version.

So much for it being longer than the ones in the HF set.

These are new:

Craftsman Ultimate Collection Transformer Tool Metric or SAE Set - $73.09

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-ultimate-collection-transformer-tool-metric-set/p-A031826422

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-ultimate-collection-cm-transformer-tool-sae-set/p-A03182668

I've run into situations where these would have come in handy... but managed to get by without them. Still... interesting and nice to see something new... so it'll go on the 'watch' list, for now.

Picture says COO is Taiwan.

I think Lowes carried something similar... but don't remember if they were flex... and pretty certain you couldn't set them at an angle.
