Anyone own and like the Olympia Tools Power Grip bolt cutters?

I see a potential deal if the Craftsman colors go on sale:

Since this is a new addition to the catalogue (Sept 30, 2016), I'm assuming China :( But I'd love for someone to tell us that it is actually a USA item.

I have the 21 piece drive accessory set, from a couple of years ago when they were still made in USA. But the set didn't come in a case...wish it had! I have no good place to keep all these pieces.

Got the 36" for $3 from Sears recently. The price was / is still crazy

Damnit! GJ strikes again! Only reason I jumped on this is because I was cleaning my garage and my smaller Snap On bars came up missing. And because I bought the 36" Craftsman last week.

Maybe if you can find a Craftsman Industrial version, but the price will probably be 4 times higher.

At this point, I think most would even be happy if Apex manufactured these in Taiwan.

For the 21 pc accessory set, you're gonna have to shadow them with foam in your tool box drawer. If you need portability, the Craftsman 22" Truck Box might help store them all.

Not sure whether this is just me, or if this is a site-wide deal....

DeWalt DWE304 10 amp Reciprocating Saw (Assembled in USA). $99.99 with $46 in bonus points back.

I can't tell what the bonus points are from, but the price is about $10 high versus HomeDepot. If you have a use for the points, this looks like a solid deal. Not a HotBuy, so you may be able to stack surprise points and coupons on top.

Only $26 back for me. $15 in points for 11/20-11/23, and $10 back for spending $75 in tools expires 90 days.

Not sure how good a deal these are, but they were a steal for me with surprise points
Craftsman 10 pc., 6 pt. 3/8 in. Standard Socket Wrench Set -- $9.99

Craftsman 10 pc. 6 pt. 3/8 in. Metric Socket Wrench Set -- $9.99

Also, my Sears had a new line of Craftsman tool chests that support 200 lb per drawer and the pricing wasn't too bad either... Am I late in the game learning about this?

What's the COO for the 10 pc sets?

New set to go along with that 42pc torx and hex set that is often $29.99:

Craftsman 24pc Reach and Access Add-on Set $29.99

Both have that fake regular price of $99.99. :headshake

Let the buyer beware with this set. I purchased this set tonight, as I had a 3/16" cap screw that I had to access on an angle. The 3/16" ball hex bit socket would not enter the screw on an angle, but only straight on. And when I tried to install the screw, after placing it on the ball end, It could NOT be removed as it was on an angle! On the other hand, the Harbor Freight ball hex bit socket had no such problems, and worked as expected.

My son purchased the same set, and when we tried the 3/16" ball hex bit from his set, we had the same poor result!

The sears set has flat edges on the "ball" head, and the Harbor Freight set has round edges. The sears set is not made correctly.

How do these compare to the pro version?

I don't have the pro version.

The only other pry bars I have are from HF and snap on. These fall closer to HF than my snap on. They feel really light, bar thickness is pretty small. But they'll serve their purpose.

I stopped by after work to answer my own question. Functionally the standard and pro versions seemed almost identical. Finish wise the pro has the edge. The finish on the steel was nicer and the handles looked like the would clean up a little easier. I think I'm gonna wait for the pro set to go on sale again.

Last week I would have jumped at $29.99 for a set if I were you. I somehow got mine for $24.44 in store at a Sears almost 2 hrs from me on Labor Day before any coupons or points. Last week was the cheapest I can recall seeing them offered nationally online. The 10 off 25 that many had made these a steal for $22 or so after tax.

Picked up the following set today- 155 piece Mechanics Tool set

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-155-piece-mechanics-tool-set/p-00953155000P?plpSellerId=Sears&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

Not bad for $30 out of pocket- 79.99, minus $15 in surprise points, plus some other points I had from shopping at Kmart the other day. So Check your points, you might be pleasantly surprised!

First impressions is that the set is much nicer than I had anticipated. Full chrome polish on the wrenches, and nicer 75 tooth ratchets. Going to put them to use and see how they hold up.

Who knows?
I had bought extras of the 36" pro prybars to give to my brother and brother-in-law for Christmas.

Thanks to the members here, I just bought the 3-piece sets for them as well (and one for me!). Thanks again gents!

I'd prefer the Dewalt 118 piece over that china stuff. Some stores have it for $79.99.

The Dewalt sets certainly do look nice. But they're at $144, and I just needed to burn up some points, so the craftsman set was the best way to go for now. If they were on sale, I definitely would consider them.

Sears has got to be nuts - or is it deliberate? Got another offer today - $8 off $20 purchase in tools ("qualifying items"). Yeah. Browsing through air compressor accessories, couldn't believe the prices on the "qualifying items". Lets see, jack the prices up 3 or 4 times, then give 40% off. Example, 3/4" to 3/8" brass bushing: $15.89. Yeah, give me a dozen ....NOT.

The item you linked to is being sold by "unbeatable sale", not by Sears. The really insane prices that I see on Sears (and WalMart) are usually by third-party vendors.

Sears craftsman ball pein hammer 8 oz #38489 was $5 in the clearance area. The online price for the same size was $14.99. They were not available to verify price in the price check scanner but the sales associate went in the back and returned. Several in the clearance at my store, but the area where the ball pein hammers are kept, the 8 oz. slot was empty.

YMMV .

I've definitely seen some china. Either way they're imports. :dunno:

How do you feel Gearwrench compares?
I ask because the Craftsman is the same most likely.

Although made in USA is always preferred, not all imports are low quality. I think most Germany and Taiwan hand tools are top notch. While I don't feel good paying for China made product, I do with Taiwan made, a pro-USA democracy that always gets my vote. I think the quality is outstanding for the price. Amazing what they can do in Taiwan. I am slowly upgrading my tools to all USA, Germany, and Taiwan.

I own some Dewalt tools made in Taiwan and feel they are noticeably better quality than the Craftsman stuff made in China. I'm very impressed with the quality of the Dewalt ratcheting wrenches for the price. I would also recommend the Dewalt over Chinese made Gearwrench.
