Masterforce Wrenches, rats and sockets are it. And quite honestly the Craftsman equivalents of those are better. The Pratt Reed screwdrivers may be slightly better than the WF's. I would buy the Crescent stuff at Menards over Masterforce.

Oh I'm dying of this statement. I've been trying so hard not to respond to a lot of your posts on this forum. But I couldn't stop on this one.

They're both made by the same company. The USA stuff is the same. The chinese CM is pretty much the same thing too.

The ratchets have different handles and looks, but the same. Rebuild kits are even interchangeable.

The sockets are the same.

The wrenches aren't a raised panel, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had the same dimensions otherwise...

:headshake

Menards also sells a lot of other USA made stuff (not just tools, but a lot of other products too).

I also seriously doubt one of your earlier posts about the Wilde punches/chisels being bent in the packaging. Wilde makes some damn good punches and chisels.

You've got to calm down your fanboyism a bit here.

Raised panel stuff is ****, though. I won't buy it. The masterforce stuff is about the same. The full polish Craftsman stuff is actually quite nice and my flex heads and reversibles are identical to Gearwrench. The low profile and pro Craftsman rats are way underrated as well. Craftsmans pliers, prybars, automotive, taps and dies, chisels, punches, adjustable wrenches, rigid made pipe wrenches, hammers, the list goes on and on. But that isn't the cool opinion to have.

I use the stuff professionally in an industrial environment, it gets way more abuse than you can imagine. But I am clueless.

What do you use your tools for?

And want me to go back and take pictures of the wealth of defective punches?

Sears has plenty of lawn mowers and appliances that are US made as well. What other crossover is there?

I love Menards, but the Masterforce hand tools leave a lot to be desired.

None available for me locally to pickup... Is it worth $6.00 more to have it shipped in?

In my opinion yes. I paid $21 shipped for the 1/2 drive version, after I got the 3/8 and liked it so much. I would of paid that for the 3/8. Especially if you have surprise points or need some other stuff and use the $10 off $50 coupon for tools.

Yea unfortunately I never, ever, get surprise points and there isn't much at Sears worth getting to use the coupon. I bought heavily on the last of the US made tools back in 2013 and haven't had much use for Sears since then...

I think we can throw Apex into a giant pot at this point, the name brands are just slapped on, I don't think there is a single Armstrong plant anymore, but Armstrong has a very similar rat with the same mechanism.

What about the 1/4 and 1/2 ratchets? I can't get any "craftsman professional use ratchet" to pop up in search, and the damn website keeps freezing on me.

They weren't available to order on the sears website. I bought the 1/2 and 1/4 from Bowers Tool on eBay.

Meh, these are decent at best. They might be better than the RP ratchets, but not by much. They are USA-made, and as much as I am a supporter of that, I'd buy a $15 ratchet at HF long before one of these.

It is interesting that when the stores had plenty of USA tools, these were considered garbage and Sears stopped selling them.

Now that the stores have plenty of foreign-made tools, Sears pulls these out of the basement and they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Just look at all the positive user reviews.

Where are you seeing the points offer?

Edit I see it now. Didn't notice it the other day.

Great deal, I kick myself for not jumping on that. The points offer is still there, but its $50 now.

I'm hearing(reading) a lot of mixed reviews on it. Remember it's not the same Nakamichi that was known for high-end audio equipment like the Dragon cassette deck...those days are a distant memory.

I've had these when Sears brought them back out a year or so ago under "Craftsman Professional Use". I gotta say, I've tried REALLY hard to support Sears and the small amount of USA tools they still have.............but these...........these are complete garbage. There is a tab on the back side of the selector disk that actually changes the direction.....and the disk is made of such cheap pot metal that the tab just breaks off. I warrantied them 3 times and just gave up.

I agree. Picked this up yesterday. Complete junk. Worst ratchet I own.

I picked up 2 Craftsman tool bags when they were on sale earlier in the year. Sold as a combo, 18 and 13 inch or something similar. The zipper tab snapped in half after only a very few EASY openings (I swear, nothing loaded) ...very thin pot metal. I gave the other bag to my son.

A couple of weeks ago, I had to trade in a Craftsman ratcheting combo wrench. All lobster claw on the shelves and the American part number was taken off the site so I HAD TO trade it in for Chinese. It was the first of the set to fail me in the several years I owned them. The selector broke before I could use it. POT METAL. Yeah... pot metal.

Glad I didn't buy... The USA Craftsman I picked up back in 2012 and 2013 has excellent USA quality. I don't need to add a bottom of the barrel ratchet just because its stamped USA. It still needs to be a quality item first!

Going back to this because I took pictures today at Menards. 6772d832918e61bf83513a0e32d2f6e9.jpg

One of several sets that had defects like that.
