Unfortunately, no

It came in the form of surprise points

Dang, that'd be nice. All I seem to get lately is 50 off 500 or 6 off 100. Gee, thanks Sears. The only decent ones are either for Kmart or Sears clothing.

So I'm at my Local Sears and I spot this Proto 712L on top of the Craftsman USA adjustable wrenches. They look identical. It's $5 off so I'm grabbing it ($26)

Ha, that's a mislabel from the factory. The barcode is for the Craftsman 12" 44605. The indentation where the thumb screw is different though.

Didn't the Craftsman 12" & 10" go on sale for $20 (2-Piece set)? It's quite amazing how a simple brand change makes all the difference. From Proto to Craftsman, they're the same exact thing made under one roof, "Western Forge" Awesome!

Side by side (forgot I just got one of the USA Craftsman about a month ago)

I'm seeing $10 in points back on everything:

"Members earn $10 bonus points (10,000 points) when you spend $10 or more on selected items at SEARS or KMART (Online). Points will be awarded 30 days after purchase."

Have to spend at least $10 out of pocket (not your own points or surprise points).

^ ^ ^ Think I'll take advantage of that.

This however . . . DOES . . . assume that Sears is still in business 30 days later !! :D

Hmm, did someone at Sears catch onto their $10-for-$10? The first few $10+ items I went to had the extra 10k points tacked on, but the moment was short lived. Everything is back to normal on my end. I did get a new offer though:

"Get an instant $20 in surprise points (20,000 points) when making a Sears or Kmart purchase of $35 or more." Valid through March 01, 2016 11:59 PM CST

Is that after you buy something. I had a similar one for $15. Added $15 worth of stuff. No points available to apply.

the deal was $19.99 for the 3 piece, I had a set in the cart, but price changes to 39.01 or something far more than I wanted to pay.

These prices tend to fluctuate, fast. Whenever surprise points are available, the prices go up. They want us to spend now. Haha

craftsman hook and pick set- usa $4.65

some say junk, some say good. Guess can't be any worse than the HF orange handle set.

The bad rep is over the tool being loose in the textured grip. I can understand why this might bother people, but I wouldn't call the picks junk. The grips simply slip on. Ullman (the parent mfg) even sells these under their own name without the textured grip.

To be fair Ullman does state that "Each hook and pick is... permanently attached to a cushioned textured grip..." I bought the Craftman set over the summer and simply pull the grips off during use. For someone that wants to keep the grips on, I'd just get some adhesive in there and reinsert the tool. Otherwise, I haven't had any issues with the business end of the tool.

good review, thanks order one.

Also depends on how much pressure you're applying on the pick/grip. I can apply good pressure on my set and have no issue with slippage. In time that may change (as the grip ages), but for now it works great still.

If I really needed that much pressure on these little picks though, I'd just get my bigger pick or take the grip off instead of fussing over it.

Put the grips on like golf grips with tape and acetone.
