Anybody got any ideas on cheap stuff to use your $3/mo of SYWR Max points? I have to burn through those to get to the good surprise points every month and I have been struggling to find things in the $5 range. The LocalAd used to be a great spot to snag 50% off small items, but not any more.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

In the past I have bought superglue and consumables.

Not sure if it's been posted, but seems like a decent deal:

Craftsman 2.0 Amp Compact A/C Oscillating Multi-Tool - $49.99
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-2.0-...lerId=SEARS&prdNo=10&blockNo=10&blockType=G10
That one does go even lower once in a while, but I think you have to get the 2.5 amp version with quick-release to be able to use non-Craftsman accessories.

Ugh, Sears seems to have changed it so that I can no longer get my 5% Sears card discount when paying with points. Just one more thing to deter me from buying stuff...
For online, you charge $0.01 to the Sears card and pay the rest with rewards. The 5% off for tools will stick.

But at the store it's difficult finding cashiers that know how to do that.

To get to the good surprise points? What do you mean?

I actually like combining the Max $3 with other surprise points. Like a $10 surprise points for $30 purchase offer will become a total $13 surprise points for an order.

A couple other things not marked with a sale price came up with a sale price when scanned too.
At my local Sears, I've noticed that sale items I've found online are usually shown as full price when I'm at the store. It really forces me to do my shopping online, or at least look online before I go there to shop.

^^^That's where I always need to get a manager on duty who happens to be camping out in the gardening / lawn section. Takes a while to get their attention, lol

How's the warranty like on the Metric / SAE Tap & Die Set? Is it lifetime? I used to think there was only a 90 day warranty for the Tap / Die set at Harbor Freight, but it happens to be lifetime as well...interesting

The same construction and materials used to make that Push pin plier. The only difference is that Sears paid the factory a few cents more to get the Craftsman name engraved. This is getting really interesting...

What is this 3/mo of SYW Max points you speak of? Have they failed to provide me free money? Or is this part of the free shopping deal after you join ?

The Craftsman/Harbor Freight push pin pliers; probably related to these guys: Gearwrench 3729

518OSuHkqML._SX425_.jpg

And/or these guys: Performance Tool W86561

I received a pair of push pin pliers in my Summit Racing order, yesterday. I went with Lisle's version (41250). They look similar but lack the return spring and are made in the USA. :D

Edit: Did Matco get in on the Harbor Freight/Craftsman/Gearwrench/Performance Too push pin pliersl? Someone in the "Show your new tool arrivals" thread received a two piece set and it caught my eye. They at least look like the others: Matco MST3723

I also noticed that Matco carries a Lisle clone as well. The stock image is even the same:

I'd be cautious when returning items to Sears. Better yet, stop by the store to confirm what you're buying. I had to return several items because the warranty and COO were not as described.

Earned points used for making purchases are apparently not refunded. In spite of customer service stating it takes 24 hours for the points to be credited back to the account, I wouldn't rely on that piece of information. I've checked on my end, the points have not been refunded. Its mind-boggling to spend time with their customer service as they attempt to compromise the productivity of their customers.

Time to get back to Home Depot and Amazon, ha

It's going to be pretty comparable to almost any other 72T imported ratchet today, be it from Lowes, Harbor Freight, etc.

It's only for members who pay the $39 annual fee.

If you pay the $39/yr membership fee for the shipping discount, you get $3/mo back on the first of every month. Net cost of membership is $3 for the year. Sometimes, they discount the annual membership, making the deal insane. I think that one year I paid less than $10.

The problem is you get these $3 in surprise points on the first of every month and they are the first that need to be spent. So if you have a $10 off $25, you can't use it until you make another purchase to burn the $3. Points don't stack anymore. So oftentimes I am struggling to find something cheap to use the $3 on so that I can access the better deal.

Superglue, jigsaw blades, sandpaper.... those are what I invariably get.

Yeah, I hate that. You CAN get it back, but have to jump through the ShopYourWay phone support in order to get them. They can get them added back instantly more often than not (so long as you waited the 24 hours and the points still haven't shown up).

Doohickey,

Thanks for posting the coupon code. Used it and some of my soon-to-expire SYWR points to purchase a set of their Professional Screwdrivers and a set of strap wrenches (which I will use the large on the wheel caps of my 1952 Chevy Truck. Thanks again.......

I wouldn't bother... unless clearance was an issue I guess. Never thought a tubing cutter was that difficult to use lol

I couldn't tell you how many times I've ended up with busted / cut / scraped hands due cutting copper tubes in tight spaces

Perhaps due to the ratcheting function? Definitely not Made in the USA though. I was going to use something like this on long rusty pipes that needed to be disposed ages ago. I think an electric cut-off tool is more than efficient, lol. Just trying to find a way to keep myself busy it seems, :lol_hitti

y it cost so much?

Interesting, thanks!

The reviews on Amazon mention this is specific to general plumbing / copper piping only. Whereas, on the other hand, Craftsman claims their's works on Steel too, big difference, not sure which claim to believe.
One of the other reviews recommends purchasing a Ridgid cutter instead.
Hit or miss as some put it.

Maybe still worth a try? :dunno:

Hopefully because they are worth it? lol
These look to be the same thing and a little cheaper

I've bought dozens of cutters and ridgid's do hold up the best. I wouldn't use any of my copper cutters on steel though, Maybe thin metal electrical conduit if I was in a bind but I've got a set of cutters I use on "black pipe" for gas lines and I'll use them for anything thats harder than copper.

Only reason I'm in love with these ratcheting cutters is they look like they might actually work well in tight spaces. All the others I've seen still have the "adjustment nob" like normal cutters and thats always what hits something and prevents a full rotation in tight spaces.

If they don't work out I'll just stick with my Makita Multi tool and a **** ton of sanding / filing to remove the burs
