Just like anything else in life.......... You get what you pay for.
The light weight HF stands are poor at best...... I am NOT a fan of anything cheap that supports a car or truck that can fail while you are under it (EG: jack or jack stands.) IF you decide to go with these HF or any cheap jack stands I suggest using them in PAIRS on the side of the car you are working on.
Always read the fine print on some of these jack stands for what the TRUE rating is because sometimes the ratings are DOUBLE what they really are because they rate them in pairs........ Some (and I repeat SOME) 4000 pound jack stands are really rated at 2000 pounds EACH so read the fine print before you lay under the car or truck.
FWIW.... The cheap HF stand are great for supporting a light weight trailer, lawn equipment, axles, etc.

I always use quality jacks and stands like Hein Werner because there really is a difference.

^Hein Werner quality has really gone down hill in recent years according to several members who have purchased jack stands from them. Plus, their stands are not 100% USA-made any longer.

On the other end, I have Craftsman and HF jack stands supporting two different vehicles in my garage right now. The Craftsman 3 tons have been holding up a car for nearly 2 years. The HF 6 tons have been holding up a car for several months. I really don't question either, but always have an extra stand or two as backups underneath the car when I'm underneath it..

I bought a pair of the Hein-Werner 6 ton (3 ton per stand) after getting them for under $80 with Sears points a couple months back.

Mine have clean welds and even feet (seemed to be the common complaints I'd seen photos of). Sears shipped them in the factory box with no padding and they arrived a little scuffed up but no physical damage. If I recall correctly, the box said made in the USA of US and global components. The stickers on the stands don't say a word about COO.

Not sure what they were like before, but I was either lucky or they've started improving again. Much beefier than the Delco 3 ton (1.5 ton per pair, made in China but well done) stands I have been using for years. The Delco have held up very well, I just wanted/needed a higher weight rating.

I have an older pair of Hein Werner and they are very HD. By the way, I wish I were closer to your area, I'd hit up Redamaks for a couple burgers.

Nice -- I got a pair of the 6 Ton Hein-Werner's (Made in USA) -- and also shipped in the original boxes (And not very good boxes at that) from Northern Tool for about $99/pr shipped a year or two back.

I am a big fan of the Craftsman Bar Clamps, which are make in Slovakia. Here is one of them:

I believe that they are made by Wolfcraft and also sold under another brand or two. Monte posted up a video from the factory once:

You need to pay attention to the throat depth on these though. The 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch are indistinguishable in some of the pictures but are offered in the same lengths. I vastly prefer the big ones.

Compared to Bessey and Jorgensen, these are probably a step down. But for the price, I don't think that they can be beat. Miles ahead of the HF and Irwin clamps.

You used to be able to catch these at around 50% off here and there on the local ad. But I haven't seen them really discounted in quite awhile. Surprise points seem to be the best purchase method at this point.

every local sears has been out of stock on the 15" adjustable wrench ever since that day they went on sale about 2 months ago... are they discontinuing it?? I missed the deal and have been hoping the deal would run again, but it's been full price on the website ever since, and out of stock at every store here.

EDIT: Also check out Wera stuff. They usually have a multi-bit driver and some screwdriver sets. Prices change wildly, sometimes throughout the day on them.

I like the Craftsman/Wolfcraft bar clamps as well. Currently I only have a pair of the 4-3/8" mini clamps (hobby stuff) but I'd like to purchase some pairs of the larger sizes. The other brands that I'm aware of selling these clamps are Masterforce/Menards and Dremel (not sure if Dremel still does).

Well,, having too many could be debatable. I use them frequently but have about 25 unopened sets - knowing they are molded in US and with the frequent free points I just couldn't pass them,, many many many times

Search "Craftsman Professional Screwdrivers". There are a few things up there in the $6-15 range. Might find something you need. For me, finding something for the $3 in monthly points is the toughest part.

There are some locking extension sets that are on sale in the $11 range.

I just got another $10 in points. I've just been saving loads in my wish list and buying whatever's in there. $3 or $4 in points I got a lot of one off sockets. Sadly I stopped getting them, I was hoping to piece together another set and then start on the wrenches.

Same here. I used to get lots of one off sockets, but they stopped sending me free points.

Speaking about point, I have $12 in points and considering to use them for pink composite ratchet http://www.kmart.com/the-original-pink-box-pink-3-8inch-composite-ratchet/p-00933953000P. It looks very similar to the HF composite ratchet, the specs seems the same - 72 tooth. Anyone know if this ratchet any good? I dont care about the color if I can get it for just couple of bucks, or perhaps free if it goes on sale.

I think that someone confirmed awhile back that they are the same as the HF. You won't lose it in that color!

Thanks! I am going to start watching the price and hope it will go on sale. I dont really need it, so I can wait for a bit.
