Regardless of price I would recommend getting one from a power equipment dealer. It will have a much better chance of being assembled and tuned correctly.

I can assemble these with no issue. My only issue with buying from them is around here you're going to pay alot more for the unit. They should come tuned from the factory anyways. Unless c-man doesn't, but any small motor tool I've purchased comes running.

The reviews on that model were not kind.

Noticed that too, read a couple of them before posting but not all. Doesn't sound too good when one review says it would struggle with a 2 car wide driveway, which mine is. Mines actually ~4 ft wider than my 2 car garage opening. And people who leave a review without even using it should have their review pulled.

If you arent worried about setting one up why not try the used market? Your power dealer will have some used item as will a c-list or other.

I bought my c-man for $200 5 years ago, rebuilt the carb and replaced the belts and its running like a champ. Of course, i have yet to pull it from the shed this year yet, but with Chicago winter close I will be tuning it for the year this weekend.

Nowadays, if it doesn't say maple it probably isn't. Even expensive Gladiator workbenches are now "hardwood" rather than maple. But yes, these are rubberwood (which looks pretty similar to maple). It seems like a solid top for light duty use, but I wouldn't expect it to hold up to abuse. You get what you pay for after all.

At checkout they said I'd get 67,000 bonus points the next business day.

I just chatted with Sears and they said I'd get 50,000 points on 11/30.

All parameters seem to be a moving target. We'll see if anything shows up in my account tomorrow. Sears is a circus.

for those specials like the boots, i believe the 100% back in points in valid 11/30 to 12/6. i believe sears only adds those points at the start of the "valid period". i'm thinking those points should arrive tomm, 11/30. i've got some points coming back also for the 100% back deal

Yes, I feel the same.

I just placed my first order with Epstein. Prices are not inflated. Sales and promo codes are not required, meaning that you don't waste time dinking around with surprise points and coupon exclusions just to get acceptable pricing. Bets of all, they focus on offering new and old-stock American tools.

I don't really feel that (most of) their prices are inflated, at least not when items are on sale, which is about 90% of the time. They are a bit inflated on things that are online only, such as specialty tools and such, but you can usually use a coupon to bring the prices down closer to reality. I have a rule not to pay more than 50% of retail from Sears, and I've bought almost their entire tool dept. following this rule with points offers, sales, and coupons.

Points are normally only 1-2% back, so not really a big perk unless they are offering some special points offer. Points back coupons usually aren't bad though.

As for their Asian-imported tools, I'm not a buyer either. Craftsman still sells a lot of stuff made in the states though, like pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, sandpaper, and a lot of other little things. Wood clamps are made in Slovakia, portable tool boxes in Israel. Of course, if you stray away from the Craftsman name you can buy Channellock, Wera, Wiha, Knipex, Estwing, Fluke, DeWalt, etc.

The full depth is really nice, Really wish it was the 3 drawer, for the application I have in mind, but can't always have it all.
I had a circa 1994 18" depth top box, I sold with my 18 " deep circa 1988, craftsman bottom chest, (all Drawers, no wasted bottom bin I hate those)I sold the rig. Keep kicking myself for selling it.
I got 300.00 for the pair, but still. That husky box was sweet.

When you are "educated" on what the quality items are you can save some money. EG: I picked up a 5 piece Wera Screw driver set for $16 with points on Monday...... Thanks to this thread and the "deal posting finders" along with the tool reviews.
Sadly, my local Sears store (Phillipsburg, NJ) has been on "life support" for over three years now and usually has more employees than customers, BUT the online shopping works best for me so I only have to go to the pick up counter and avoid the depressing tool area with poorly stocked shelves and "gimmicky toy tools".
Hopefully Sears can make a come back!..... But I would not hold my breath.

I'm beginning to struggle with what to buy in the stores. But online is different. Check out their selection of Knipex, Wera, Vim/Vim Durston, and Grip-on. Those are all great targets for surprise points. I don't buy much without surprise points.
