I have been told, that the actual re-thread repair set, is better than a tap, as
a tap can "hog out" metal, where it is not wanted to be removed.
Don't know how accurate that is, But made sense to me.
That being said, I have used a tap to restore threads.

I read the post about the restore kit being good, but thought it was in similar quality to the full kit, and figured why not get more tools for the same $$.

Any time you USE points, it will reduce the EARNED points. Using points subtracts price pre-tax. So any time you apply them to your order pay attention to how many you will earn. It is not advised to use points on items that have 50% bonus points because it will reduce them dramatically...

*sometimes* they have promo's where if you spend a certain amount and use some points they give you extra points... i.e. one time I had to spend $15 (after applying some points) and they gave me $10 in points back.

The points system has been pretty reliable for me. Any time there is something that has bonus points it usually says "next day", what it really means is "24 hours after you pickup or it ships"...

Yes you can use surprise points & earn bonus, but it often doesn't work out the most economically. Throw whatever you are thinking about in the cart, and you can play around with how many points you want to apply, and it will show how many you will earn.

Bonus points often expire in 14 days, so watch out for that. When I have a good # of expiring points / coupon, I tend to end up buying Bully Tools. Made in USA, and have some more task-specific gardening related tools. I've got free shipping each time, so it it has been quite a savings for great tools

The restore kit is made in the USA and is sold under a variety of brand names, including Snap On. The taps and dies are made in China. I'm far from an expert on them, but they do have pretty solid reviews. That said, I own a set of Irwin Hanson which are quite a bit more expensive but USA made and good quality.

Well that's a good enough reason for me to swap to that. Like I mentioned, I don't foresee myself boring any new holes, only restoring. I did see the Irwins hanging on an endcap at Lowes the other day, but unfortunately couldn't use my SYWR points on them

Right next to it was some cheap **** no-brand Chinese set (but with more sizes) for like $30... lol... Sure my set is missing a couple taps and has some surface rust, but that doesn't bother me any for ten freakin bucks!

I made several purchases in December with lots of points back. Realized shortly after that I did not receive $20 in points across 2 different orders. Called in finally yesterday and explained. Guy confirmed the error and added the points back. I asked if he would consider giving me a coupon or something due to the error. Said no problem and gave me another $10 in points.

There has been one other time recently when I did not receive points as advertised, but last time they gave the points when I called. 800-number customer service for "shop your way" has been very good in my experience (USA call center). Customer service for Sears via 800 number (Philippines call center I think) is absolutely horrible.

SYWR customer service is the one diamond in the whole Sears conglomerate. They usually answer super fast (even faster if you are a Silver or better member) and have always taken care of my issue, or did a great job explaining what happened (not always their fault).

Why is most of that, probably just like Gamp said, they are in the USA!! I have also found this true to be calling Duluth Trading , with less than 2 rings for 90% of my calls & connected to a person immediately. I guess Wisconsin based call centers have their **** together (please study them foreign call centers, I may find myself not wanting to use 4-letter words the whole time)

I bought this for ~$26 in points when they were that price, wish I would have bought 3. My only complaint is the zipper is a little rough, but it's a great work coat and it holds up to Wisconsin winters.

I hate the way Sears does their website, you know there is one store out there that has these in their inventory, but has lost them, so they can't really sell them, but the rest of us have to see them.

Nice. That code seems to work for me, brings it down to $250 after accounting for points, for me. It sounds like you get $16 more back in points than me though. Maybe you have a VIP status in SYW? I'm just a "member."

Recognize that the bigger points back is 20% on an order over $100. Not sure if it works for multiple orders, but is a max of 100 back in points, so you may want to buy several things together

Before anyone complains that they didn't get all their points, note that it's 20% of what you pay with your own money. Not including tax and shipping fee.

So redeeming reward points will lower the amount you get back.
