Add a pencil for $1.00 (to cross from $49 to $50) and get back $17 in total savings. You have to click "apply points" to get the $10/off 50. Then the $7.50 will sho up a bit later to be applied to next purchase.

Just make sure your second purchase is not a rip off-- but something that ships freee or is available for local pickup.

I disagree...

You need $1 filler to get $17 back in saving. Think about this. Who cares what item as long as it is cheap. Make it as local pick up to some store in another states randomly. You don't have to pick this item up. Remember your main item (the wrench) is getting shipped to you for free. Again, you are spending $1 to get $17!

Lucky You for saving a few $$!....... However, I got mine before you will have yours!

You get yours early and you can ask for price adjustment - see below!

here is what He said, I don't really like this, but it better than nothing
I still keep getting an error and can't answer.
You will receive $4.33 to your shop your way rewards account within 24-48 hours and $6.27 to your credit card number ending with **6015 within 3-5 business days.
I'd rather have the $10.00 plus Tax, right on my CC, cause the points will probably run out.

I would not accept that. Talk with another person. I have done this before, but not lately.

Price Protection Policy

Buy with confidence from Sears. If an item you have purchased from Sears goes on sale for a lower price within 30 days of your purchase, Sears will refund the difference. All Price Match rules and exclusions apply including no Price Protection adjustments between Thanksgiving Day and the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. Sears will not offer a price adjustment on items that include individual Shop Your Way bonus or extra point offers.

To claim a Price Protection Policy adjustment, go to your original Sears store where the purchase was made with your receipt. If your purchase was made on Sears.com, please fill out a Price Protection form. You will be given a refund for the difference of the original selling price and the current advertised/reduced price. Apparel clearance merchandise and conditional Online Only Special Offers do not qualify for Price Protection Policy adjustments.

So who's going to wait to see if they hit $39?

This crossed my mind as well. I wonder if they are clearing this out. It is a pretty big discount right now, so not sure if it goes any lower. I am happy if I can get my purchase price adjusted to $49.

But it is Sears, they do all kind of stuffs that do not make sense :dunno: :headscrat

Sears price adjustment *****. Even though the balance is paid via CC, their order of refund method is surprise points first, then regular points, and last - credit card. Exact opposite of every other retailer. The expiration of the surprise points doesn't change either and keeps the original date.

I Know, It's like they refunded my points,
Then the remaining $6.00 as if I ,
I don't know how to even say it.
Problem is, like I said, I couldn't even request the full $10.00 on the CC, cause the stupid Chat locked up.
He kept trying to talk to me, but I couldn't answer.
Like somebody saying, hello, hello, hello, on a phone, but I'm say Hello! but they can't hear me!
trouble is, when will those $4.00 expire, I might not even use them.

EDIT,
Oh, OK,
The expiration of the surprise points doesn't change either and keeps the original date.
That's what I mean, I may not even get to use them.

Sears are a bunch of crooks now. I sent in requests this morning for price protection on the 59.99 box end wrench sets, one SAE and one Metric. On the SAE, they (hours later) say its unavailable, so no price protection. Ummm, it was when i submitted the request, and have a screen shot to prove it.

On the metric, they replied it too was denied because it is 159 on the site, so i already paid less. HUH!? I just checked, and its in stock and 49.99. EVERY SINGLE PURCHASE I now have to email them about something, and many times they just say "sorry, you're outta luck". What is going on with these thieves? They denied me $65 in points from a Christmas promo recently too, a cross promo with Home Depot where you wait 45 days for your points. Never got them, 2 months go by, and magically the records show i got them early at 30 days, when I had a very low points balance that whole time. Never got them, and now reps say "sorry, records show you got them". PATHETIC.
I received an offer for 50% back in points on a tool purchase up to $50, or max $25 back. First time I've received that as a "personal" offer.
I'm curious if you used this and if it worked for you. I got the same offer, placed an order on Fri., but haven't seen any points yet. Probably because I used points to pay for the purchase?

Oh, You're right Buddy.
Normally I wouldn't put up with it either, and if you have been following any of my threads, esp. in free parking, you know I don't have money to throw away.
But I'm just too wore out right now, and have things on my mind, I don't feel like explaining the whole thing again.
Unless I could call somewhere.

EDIT,
And really you're right, cause it would have gone like this,
$49.00, - the $4.00 in points, $45.00 & tax?

You pay with credit card right? Ever dispute the charge? I would...

Call your credit card company, assuming you pay with credit card. Tell your story, they should be on your corner, dispute the charge. It is pita to talk with these cs, but that is why I pay with credit card. If I can not get things fixed, I dispute the charge. So now I bring a bigger bat into the fight. I do not have money to throw away either, otherwise why are we looking for deals... I will post an update when I try to get mine price adjusted.

More Sears.com site wackiness. As others have suggested I use the Reveiw Order button to verify points awards.

Well, that stopped working for me this evening. I put some items in my cart. The cart showed $12.43 in points to redeem later. The review page showed ... nothing at all. No mention of any reward points on this order. WTF Sears?

attachment.php

On the top sorta-left, you will see you're on the third order page. You can click "shipping" to go to the page you're supposed to go when you start checkout. "Payment" will get you to the points page. I ran into this yesterday.

Also check the price in cart compared to the price you originally saw when you added to cart, two of four items I tried to buy went up in the cart(original price was sold by Sears, so it shouldn't change). One went up $7 and the other went up $3. :dunno:

EVERY SINGLE PURCHASE I now have to email them about something, and many times they just say "sorry, you're outta luck".

That likely means they have flagged you as an unprofitable or "problem" customer. From watching reports on other boards, we have concluded if you contact them more than twice in a six month period you are likely to be put on the list. Once you are on the list, they intentionally provide a lower level of customer service and are unwilling to make exceptions to policy and cs adjustments.

There has to be a reason to dispute the charge, and the vendor has to approve it. If you paid the original price you agreed to and received the merchandise, you likely would not have basis for a dispute.

Your CC company may make a CS adjustment and refund you anyway - but they will also likely report to the credit bureaus that your account is in dispute. I was a little surprised to find that a minor and legitimate CC chargeback caused my credit scores to drop.

You used points to pay, and 0 OOP - so no points are earned. That's normal, has been that way for a while.

To earn points, in most cases you have to pay OOP at least the amount of points.

I started suspecting as much.... over the holidays, they would email me offers of bonus points if i purchased today, etc. Then, nothing. No points, or dollars off, or whatever the offers were. Usually forwarding a copy of their email offer would get them to correct it. Now, they act nuts. Its not my fault their system is so screwed up. :headscrat

Actually, I did make a mistake. I expected them to honor their offers.

Email I received after submitting the price adjustment form:

Thank you for contacting sears.com regarding the price adjustment for your order.

I have verified this product (8 Pc. XL Ratcheting Wrench Set Metric) on our website and it is on sale under 'Online Only Price'. I am sorry to inform you that we do not have an option to honor price adjustment for Online Only Price.

According to our Price Protection Policy, Apparel clearance merchandise and conditional Online Only Special Offers do not qualify for Price Protection Policy adjustments.

Sears appreciate your patience and cooperation in this regard.

BMack, sorry, I'm not finding it. Not your fault, it's the Sears page that's messed up.

I looked at all four pages: Cart, Shipping, Payment & Billing, Review. Only the Cart mentions point's you'll earn on this order. In any case, it's gone from the review page, which has been the last word on points back to this point. Now, who knows.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I'd really like to see points I will be getting before ordering.

It appears they did some redesigning, and removed the ability to see the points we will earn during checkout.

Guess they finally got tired of people sending them screenshots from the payment page, which actually only mirrored the amount displayed on the cart page.

For those that use the mobile site or app to place orders, the correct amount you will earn was only displayed after clicking the Review Order button available on the desktop site.

Instead of using the online form, you can try again with a chat agent.

http://www.sears.com/en_us/customer-service.html

Enter something in the Have a Question? field to get the pop-up. Some agents are more clueless than others about their rules, so maybe one will approve it.

Sorry, but it really is excluded in the price protection rules. Some items are tagged Online Only Price, see attached screenshot.

Only seeing $2.80 back in points, but still the lowest I've seen them. The GW set that this is likely based on is usually around $50, with Zoro selling it for $44.

Log into your ShopYourWay/Sears account, and the $2.80 back in points will jump to $5.99. Probably has to do with the Friends and Family promotion, and you have to be logged in to your account for that.

Sorry, but it really is excluded in the price protection rules. Some items are tagged Online Only Price, see attached screenshot.

They ultimately provided the price protection refund, after a couple of calls and some cancelled orders (that were processing). I called them and had to deal with this in person.

Second item to flag -

Sears is using a non-auditable billing technique which is bordering on outright fraud.

I placed two orders for the same two items, deliverd the same two ways.

The second order, they decided to charge the sears internal Invoice as two separate transactions, in order to avoid providing a discount (ie, purcash X and get Z off).

The main issue is that there is no verifiable audit trail of what they are doing. Even when they ask you to authorize a CC. They just restructure the transaction on their own.

(In spite of the transaction showing the discount applied on the purchase/authorization page...).

NB this is not related returns, refunds or legitimate bookeeping type activity.

Good luck with your shopping and be vigilant with your financial information.

Unbelievable...but then again...its Sears (!).

I returned an item (in-store) that I paid for with points last week. I still haven't received my points back. How long does this usually take?

Interesting... my recent order for the box end wrenches being talked about here recently, one SAE and one Metric, were on one single order. However, I noticed 2 separate charges on my account.

So, Sears is cooking the books now, for what, prepaing for the final chapter?

They often split the payments if it isn't all shipped together, or picked up at the same store, or if one item is shipped into the store. This also happened when I purchased items via VisaCheckOut at BestBuy.com. All items were charged individually, as each had a different delivery/pickup method.

As long as I get whatever discount/sale I was intending for, I don't mind (too) much.

A few months back I noticed this as well, shipping from different places, but with all this talk of billing errors I am not sure what to tell you.

alright, i guess Sears really does have it's head (and body up to a toe) in the ground. just one more shovel full of dirt & they are gone

Correct, it has to be a legitimate complaint. I am not suggesting just to file a dispute just because you can. I am just saying if you can not get it resolved with Sears CS, here is another avenue which I think vendor take it a bit more seriously because it is coming from your credit card company.

In this specific case, where the price dropped $10 for XL wrench, I believe we should be able to get price adjustment per Sears policy - see a few post above for the link that shows the detail. Also see a few post above someone manage to get this price adjustment.

Good info about credit score. Personally I do not care about my credit score drop due to this, others may. It annoys me if a company do not honor their own policy.
