What are the wire dividers that you are using to store the pliers on their side? Looks like a great way to save space while keeping them visible.

Those are the blue/grey handle in the bottom right corner of the picture right? I have the same ones. It's the same company that makes the gearwrench ones. I got them on gearwrenches hot deals website when they had it like a year or 2 ago. Love these pliers and will be ordering another pair

Most of the surprise points and coupons I have received DO work on clearance, the "excludes clearance" language is fairly rare. It's on the $5 coupons giving for not meeting the 5 minute guarantee but that is the only place I have seen it.

I don't think I've ever seen a coupon that works with clearance items. IIRC surprise points used to work on pretty much anything, but in the last 6 months or so they've made them quite a bit more restrictive.

Every coupon in my coupons section on Sears.com right now has something along the lines of "Not valid on Every Day Great Price, Hot Buys, Special Purchases, Introductory Offers, Insane Deals, clearance, closeouts, gift cards, catalog orders & protection agreements, Lands’ End merchandise, items not sold by Sears."

You're going to have a tough time finding a coupon or surprise points that work on the clearance pliers, but enter this game to get $3 in points that you can apply. Winning is not necessary.

Time to Win

As long as the pink "Doorbuster" is showing, you'll get $3 even if you lose.

Thanks for reminding me! I went through the games and played 4 or 5 doorbusters and earned $9 in points. Used that and $5 in surprise points to get another padded chair and 8" long reach pliers for less than $20.

Even though they may let you use surprise points on clearance it says it's excluded almost everywhere. All the receipts I get say it. Sometimes I bring a clearance item up to the register and they tell me I have surprise points to use... I just go with it because other times they tell me I have none when I know I do.

Read that fine print!

Thanks for the reminder! I got the points. I've seen a lot of doorbuster sweeps lately, but this is the first that paid out bonus points to me. Much appreciated.

I'm not sure how short the time limit is, but you can check these for a pink Doorbuster sign:

I think everyone in this thread would love to have coupons that work on clearanced tools. :eyecrazy:

They just recently changed the programming to deny using surprise points on clearance, in the past you could.

Are you referring to the small ones for any Sears department ($4/$5/$6)? When they started issuing those offers during Spring, they were AWESOME surprise points. No minimum, stacked with coupons, and worked on clearance! :willy_nil

At some point they realized their mistake and changed them to match most other types of surprise points, but didn't update the fine print.

I believe they began adding coupon and clearance exclusions to surprise points around 2-3 years ago, but the change has been gradual.

Yes I had a $4 surprise points on Sunday, would stack with other coupons but did not work on the clearance pliers.

I made an order for 116 after taxes for 7 items, all of which showed members get 50% in points back to redeem later. So I'm expecting about 50 in points. The items showed up today and I only received 24 in points so I called sywr and spoke with a woman who agreed that I didn't get all the points I had coming to me but since it was an online Kmart order I had to be transferred to someone else to receive my points. Well the next guy says 2'of the items were priced competitively and I don't get points for those items. I went back to the item and it specifically says if you order this item you will receive 50% back in points. Guy said I had to screenshot and send it in for consideration. I just asked for a mgr, they are supposed to be calling me back. Why would they give someone a hard time over 20 in points??

One of the items was a 60 led worklight. Regular price 34.99 down to 16.76 and 50% in points back.

Is the light still on sale?
Have a link?

One is rechargeable. Both seems to be great deals with the 50% back in points if you can get them. I'm going to do another order with the same lights and see what happens.

I see the "Members get 50% in Points!", but I don't see the points displayed in the cart. Either they advertised the offer on an incorrect item, or they forgot to actually program the offer into the item.

I seriously wonder what Sears/Kmart writes in their customer service manuals, because the excuse about "priced competitively" is straight up :monkey_po

For a newer model, the 50% back in points appears in the cart correctly:

I've seen some very strange things going on the last few days. Surprise point offers that shouldn't expire for a while suddenly disappearing. Every item I view on SYW says 100% back in points but the actual point value listed is only 10%. Always remember to double check the points you can redeem and the points earned are accurate in the shopping cart as you check out! Easier to do that than argue with them later...

I've noticed that a lot of times point don't show correctly in cart on bonus points but I'll get the right points the next day or after the item ships.

I haven't heard back from anyone yet. I have spent a lot of money with them the last 6'months because after getting my shop built I had limited tools to fill it with. I'd rather have better tools but for what I do Craftsman is fine especially at the prices you get the stuff at if you catch the right sale and points

Every second-hand store I visit has wire cd racks. I've cut down a couple to make similar racks. I think this one was the plate part of a dish drainer.

Thanks for posting all these. I'm not sure how you find the "doorbuster" ones - they are the only ones that aren't a waste of time. I got about $8.50 from clicking on the links you posted the last couple of days. Easy...Thanks!!!

I received an email from sywr. I attached screenshots and click by click directions as to where the item is and showing 50% back in points.

Am I missing something here?

I don't care about the 20 something in points as much as the principle now.

Seems like bad customer service over that small amount to me but may have something to do with their current situation as well too.

Sorry to hear that. I have been in the same boat with ya, and unfortunately this is not the first story that I have heard about Sears not giving the customers the correct points. In my case, I actually managed to get the points after I pretty much told them I do not want the items anymore. Just send me the return label and so I can return it. The CS talked to her manager, and I get my point afterward. I guess she realized that they are going to lose money when I return the items.

I now pretty much only buy at Sears when I have points to burn. I do like the people at the local store, unfortunately they work for now a crappy company that badly treat their paying customers.

I'll just return them if I don't get the points. No big deal really. I would have never considered the items at normal price or even on sale without the bonus points. Oh well.

Bonus points show here in-cart and during checkout. :dunno:

Did you try both the led lights? That's the only two items the guy mentioned that were "priced competitively" so no bonus points apply.

Am I missing some disclaimer somewhere saying they don't apply??

Just doesn't make sense to me. I told the guy he could look it up himself and he said he couldn't. Seems fishy to me is all

For most of those 50% back in points deals they won't always calculate out right on various checkout screens. I would just do it by hand and write it down. Likewise they don't instantly stick it in your account after purchasing, they will appear almost exactly 24 hours after the item ships or you pick it up...

I have experienced the points not showing up until 24-48 hrs or after the items ship so I wasn't too concerned with it until the packages got here. Now I don't want to open anything because I may have to send it back. The lights actually are the things I was wanting to check out more than anything else

Of the two work lights, only the KLC315 shows the additional points earned in-cart for me.

That's the work light I used as an example where the 50% bonus shows correctly in the cart.

Catadj78 posted links to older models, and neither showed the bonus in the cart.

I've kind of noticed that the system lets you build up points to around $10 or so... Then all the games seem to never win squat...
Very interesting - I started yesterday morning with $0.16 in points, and after following Doohickey's link and then playing 15 or so games, I had $9.71 in points, after which the gravy train dried up.

Care to share how to get those coupons that work on clearance?

I just apply them in the cart.

It is curious that a few people are having trouble using coupons on clearance. We do know that they "target" coupons, and in discussions on other boards have found that the terms can vary as well. Maybe the newer SYWR members are getting coupons with more restrictions, those who buy more are getting different coupons, or something like that. Might also be the geographic area, Sears is expanding in this area and just started building yet another store.

The other thing to note is that the "clearance" tag on an item does not necessarily mean it is in the system as "clearance". It's easier to check this with the in-store scanners, they will tell you if the register will think it is clearance, but you can do the same thing with trial and error online.
