My Sears has them, but high price. I don't think I've ever even seen these at Kmart. Going to be hard to get, with no shipping and probably very few Kmarts with them in stock.

Why would people use these anymore?

They seem bulky, weak, and coarse.

i dont understand why sears won't match their own web site. i can go online, order it for store pickup, and get it for that price, at the cost of all the other back end costs. i end up with *exactly* the *same* tool. not the same model, the exact same one i had in my hand. i have handed it to the stock guy who came to pick it up, and told him i would meet him upstairs. they usually just ask the sale guy for a bag, and give it to me right there.

exactly the same tool.

Sears stores are corporate-owned, and Sears Hometown stores are independently-owned.

Even if the store agrees to price match, Sears is selling these sets for $35.99 online:

I know some of y'all don't like sears tool boxes (or it seems that way) but this was in clearance for 285 at my store and I picked it up for 175. Didn't seem like a bad deal to me. d8bee80c6cd04201a9cf1fedbd7b4c36.jpg

The USA part was really the only thing that tempted me to buy these sets whenever they were on sale for 50% off at the local Kmart before it closed down. Otherwise, they didn't seem impressive at all.

Sears will price match for 30 days I think (?). If the price get lower than what you paid, they will return the difference. Look it up online, there is a little form you fill out at Sears website and they get back to you quickly - mine were approved within 24 hr. I have done this several time. Very painless process.

That is a great price for good looking tool box btw. I am going to pick up my order tomorrow, going to check out if they have the same price for that box. I need a bigger box and may just get one if they are clearing it out.

Just a thought, I would chat up the customer service and see what they can do. I believe Sears has price match policy.

I got the Sears app for my phone and occasionally interesting things pop up as clearance specials. Just ordered one of their 1/2" Digital Torque wrenches for $55 & free shipping. I was in their store a week ago and they had it on sale for $100 down from $120 which i thought was not a bad price.

I know there are people who love to hate on Craftsman and Sears but i personally think it is horrible on how badly they've been mismanaged.

For those that might be inclined here is the link to share

don't know when it will go off sale

Like most stores, the web site and the store are two separate businesses, with different marketing strategies and pricing structures. To you it is the same tool, to them it is a tool they bought from a different supplier (the store) to sell to you on the website.

i can understand that business model, if they were not filling orders from the same stock pool.

not only is doing it this way inefficient, it is a bad practice. i would assume they would want me in the store, on the chance that i might notice something else and buy it.

I'm sure I could get my Hometown store to price match, I'm on a first name basis with the owner. But I don't really want to put them through the hassle of price matching KMart and using points and such unless it's an item I really wanted.

Nope, my flow of good surprise points like that just recently stopped... :(

Man, I love my set. I didn't know what I would use them on when purchasing, but I have actually got some decent use out of them on some of my projects, and also when helping my neighbor work on his truck...

Oh, FYI... Last time I was talking to my Hometown store owner, I mentioned about that one guy saying he was find older USA made Craftsman stuff being stocked on the shelves. He told me he noticed in his last shipment that some of the CMan stuff was USA (that was typically china)... So I guess they are getting rid of old inventory from some closed stores or dusty warehouses... lol. I had to get going (and he had a customer walk in) and did not get a chance to ask him what they were but next time I'm there I will find out.

I asked my local sales guy about that and why it gets so lonely at times. He said there are days he doesn't speak with a soul and if he does the only questions he gets are "where is the bathroom & where do i pick up my online order". This is not just Sears mind you this is ALL of retail in general.

My old random orbit Craftsman had died so I clicked on your link to see what it looked like and also found I had $12 more free money in points added to my account. Not any more. :bounce: Thanks for the link.

Got one will come in handy restoring all my vintage tool boxes. Thanks for the heads up.

@darkzero - that is awesome deal!

Surprise pts been pretty bad lately for me. I currently have $8 off $60, so not much discount.
I do have $10 of $10 at Kmart for sporting items (I think), but local Kmart just closed, so anything from Kmart is useless for me.

i dont know if kmart will let you or not, but sears will let you anoint someone else to pick something up for you. if you want to give a gift to someone who has a kmart store near them, and are willing to pick it up, you could order them something for pickup at their local store, with them listed as the pickup person.

just saying . . . . .

Thanks for the idea. We have a 10 hr trip coming up, and I figure out which Sears and Kmart we will pass by on our way. I am going to order online and pick them up. Wife is not too happy with the un-scheduled stops, but honey, I gotta use my points and pick up my goodies :bounce:

So much more things available to buy at Sears vs hometown Sears

I mean chat like on top of Sears website, there is a chat button. Sorry for the confusion! I do agree with you. I have build a good relation with the manager of the local Hometown store. I would not want to hassle her.

Chervon makes power tools such as saws and drills, many of which are battery powered, with brand names including Ego and Hammerhead. It also makes outdoor equipment such as lawn mowers, blowers, trimmers and chain saws. Last year, Chervon bought the Skil tool brand from Mount Prospect-based Robert Bosch Tool.

I was going to use my points to get that cantilever box I posted before but when I was at Sears this weekend I found that one store by me has the dewalt wrenches on clearance. The regular combination metric set is $16.99. I used my points to get 2 sets for $11. The SAE set is $29 and the ratcheting are at $50 so no great deal on those...yet. Good price for the metric though so keep any eye out at your local store.
