Not tool related, but Sears has Star Shower motion on clearance for $9.99. Free shipping on orders over $30. Plus, when I logged in I had $12 In free bonus cash to use. I ended up getting 4 of them for under $29 shipped. Too bad I'll just pack them away until next year, maybe try to sell a couple.

Ha, good find. I guess that didn't show up when I searched because they called it "metric" while Sears called it "mm".![]()
If you live in an area where there is Menards, they have the same set of 20 gearwrench wrenches on sale for 39.99 with 5 dollar mail in rebate, bringing it down to $35 ... at least they did when I was there on Sunday!
This deal started yesterday, in effect for a month (until Feb 3, 2018): "Members get 50% CASHBACK in points when you purchase Grip Screwdrivers and Adjustable Wrenches at Sears. Points valid for 14 days. INSTORE and ONLINE"
As with all of these 'cashback in points' offers these days, there's no loophole, it's 50% of the out-of-pocket amount spent only, amounts paid with points don't count.
I’m not seeing any sign of this when I put adjustable wrenches in my cart and go to check out. How do we know which ones it’s valid on? Pretty cool if it worked for Knipex pliers wrenches. Stranger things have happened!

The list of stores closing is incomplete. Announced today ours in Waterloo, Iowa is closing.
FYI: Before the liquidation begins, the store location disappears as an option for online order pickup.
Those were announced a couple months ago and have been in liquidation since shortly thereafter (with huge signs all over the place saying so, and gone from the website since then), so I think anyone near those locations would already know.Might want to check the older lists as there are many stores that will be closing mid-January.
As for the website, every Christmas they remove my hometown store for some reason so I can't browse to see what is in stock. I found a work-around that seemed to fix it. First I found my hometown store ID number when I went to lookup store locations. Then you simply adjust the "unitNo" in the URL (leave the initial zeros) to the store number of the location you want and it will switch to show inventory of that store. Ex:
http://www.sears.com/tools-hand-tools-screwdrivers/b-1021298?unitNo=0003229
Made it soooo much easier to find stuff for store pickup than having to just browse all then load a particular item and see if it would let me pickup in store.
But if your store disappears from pickup options and it wasn't on the closing list, don't panic, it's probably a glitch. Happened to my closest Sears a few months ago. I called the store after it had been like that for a few days, and the manager said they weren't closing, but something went wrong between the store's systems and the website's systems, that could only be fixed by the 'dot-com' support people. The manager had already filed a ticket about it, and the support people had claimed they would fix it within a couple more days. It actually took 2 weeks and multiple repeated inquiries, but it was eventually restored, and that store is fortunately still not among the latest closures announced.

BTW, since the Hometown stores are local-owned franchises, they will probably be the last Sears B&Ms standing - Sears corporate doesn't decide when to close those, it's just a matter of when the local owner wants to quit or when Sears as a whole goes away.
This one in the list?

ahh, my eyes got ahead of me, missed it on the bottom of the page.
for those of you who have had a sears close.. when does the liquidation/clearance start on tools? how are the deals/percent off? our store is the only one around here, next one is over 45 mins away. curious to see how this will go
okay probably not, but then you would have a chance of getting like 10% off, maybe 20% if it last that long.It also helps that they're no longer under Sears Holdings. These days, SearsHometown/SearsOutlet/SearsHardware are traded separately on the stock market.
Yep, that's the case here in N. Colorado. Things are 20-40% off the historical high, which means that most of them could have been had cheaper before the closing. And it's amazing how much more traffic there is in the store now.don't bother going to the liquidation. Prices are cheaper from Sears now for most things, and you can still use points/offers. Everything gets priced at its regular super inflated price, then get slowly marked down when Sears hands the reigns over. The store will have more cars in it's lot than the whole last year put together once the 'going out of business' signs appear. Also merchandise you have never seen in a Sears will show up that the liquidator is trying to hawk.
maybe if there is something that never goes on sale at Sears, okay probably not, but then you would have a chance of getting like 10% off, maybe 20% if it last that long.
surprised they let you redeem points there then.
I enjoy the Hometown stores, but imagine many will turn into an Ace Hardware or True Value if there isn't one already in town when things so under
They are both streamlining products/ losing vendors and are horrendous with taking down products they no longer sell.is anyone else noticing there is alot of stuff that is unavailable for purchase aside from your typical hand tools?
I have about 150 dollars of points to consume before feb and it seems everything i find a interest in is unavailable for purchase.

There's so many weird half-orphaned branches of the Sears family tree, I can't keep straight all the permutations of how they all tie into the points program, but I know one of our Hometown shoppers in this thread was complaining that they don't give out new offers there that get triggered by shopping in regular Sears stores, and the Craftsman Industrial wrench thread revealed that you can't spend points at all at Sears Parts Direct but you can earn points there. I'm sure Hometowns only accept points spend because Sears forces them to as part of the agreement to license the Sears name/etc.
I know Knipex products are still on the site, but are the orders still being fulfilled? Sears have the propensity to forget to take things off the site and they have been dropping third party vendors. Anyone ordered Knipex from Sears recently?

I had points to burn before new year, so on Dec 31 I ordered a 3 piece set of Knipex Cobras with comfort grip. They show as being on the UPS truck today, so fingers crossed.
The last time I tried to buy Knipex with points they showed as shipped, but never showed up. I spoke to Sears "customer support" and they said I should chase Knipex up directly - they said they had the order but weren't able to ship the product - that was right before all of the Knipex was pulled from sears.com (I think it was last summer?). Anyway, seems like they are back for the time being, and my parcel shipped from Knipex Tools LP, Buffalo Grove IL. Last time they direct shipped Knipex to me it came from NJ as I recall.
Yeah, apparently the points promo's for regular Sears don't apply to Hometown (or other independently owned stores). I have used coupons that say "online or in store" with my Hometown store, and also with the Hardware store when I lived in Houston. I just printed it out and took it with me. Sometimes they will scan and work, other times they have to manually apply the credit assuming you are following the fine print.

If you order items to be shipped to your home, many things are drop-shipped direct from the vendor... I would assume Knipex would be one of those items.

I was fortunate to catch a nice deal on one of the higher-end Craftsman stud finders in Sep 2017 ($60 model on sale for $42, and had points to cover most if not all of the rest). This one, which at some point they marked down even lower ($30), but is now unavailable even for ship-to-home: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-wall-scanner-with-ac-wirewarning/p-00949067000P?rrec=true# At the time I bought it, it was the last one of this model on the pegs at my local store, and none of the stud finders have been restocked since then. IIRC they now have no stud finders remaining locally of any models. Definitely looks like Sears lost whoever the vendor was for those.![]()
