I agree, does look like Zircon!

An alternative that I think I got for $35 from a slickdeal:
Franklin ProSensor 710 Stud Finder (not for live wires)
An alternative if you buy it elsewhere now... it's unavailable from Sears too. :p

@Dajugganautx Another random idea you could use up a bunch of points on if you don't already have some you're satisfied with: the large size folding bolt cutters. I favor the Olympia-branded over the Craftsman-branded, because the Olympia ones have adjustable cutting heads (can realign them later in life as needed) but the Craftsman version (likely made by Olympia) unfortunately doesn't. All sizes still shippable-to-home, probably direct from Olympia.

I spent some points on a 36” non-folding Olympia bolt cutter the other day. Good deal at about $30 I think.

I don't know, it has been a while since I used a coupon in store. I normally buy online and do store pickup for better pricing & all the other syw shenanigans. The store owner always checks me out so he overrides when there is an issue. He says as long as he has the printout of the coupon to submit to corporate he's never had an issue. I now normally only buy something in store as an impulse buy when I go to pick up other stuff.

I have shown them sears online price for an item and they will price match it too no hassle.

For the coupons that worked in-store at Hometown, did they actually state Sears Hometown? If yes, where can we find such coupons?

When I want to use a Sears dollar-off coupon at a Hometown store, I have to go when the manager will be there for an override or something.

I've ordered 3 pair of Knipex pliers in the last month or two using points and got all of them no problem.

I ordered the industrial wrenches and they never shipped. My credit card has been charged for the full amount weeks ago.... at this point should I be requesting them to be canceled so I can get my money back?

I got some Knipex insulated tweezers, esd comfort grip snips before Xmas and those have been delivered. I just ordered a 10" pliers wrench a couple days ago, and should be delivered today.

I've also ordered some Wera products, and just like the Knipex, were shipped directly from the vendor

I was curious to see the price now of the Knipex snips, and they are now unavailable direct from Sears. I checked a few other items, and seems there are less items available from Sears. Wonder if Knipex is getting worried?

It goes in waves. The pricing varies a lot and the number of products from Knipex goes from 270ish to 50ish at times. Last year it went less than 10, only stuff they sold in stores. Just wait it out, Witte was completely gone from Sears site for like 6 weeks last year the last two of those weeks is when Knipex disappeared.

Oddly enough I ordered a few days before Witte was removed from the site. Nothing came for two weeks, I complained that I couldn't reorder, they refunded me the points I used and the coupon I used in points. Then a week later an automated email was sent to me saying the item I ordered was out of stock and they refunded my points for the Witte insulated screwdriver set...a week later the screwdriver set arrived. So I got the screwdrivers, a full refund and an extra $25 points on that order.

With that kind of customer satisfaction, how could these guys be going out of business?

As long as he didn't have an urgent need for those screwdrivers, that sounds like a happy ending to me - got what he wanted, for free, and extra points to go get something else for free. :pimpflash (Definitely not helping them stay in business, though!)

A bunch of the Taiwanese automotive tools are on sale less than half price today. I guess another supplier is being changed.

Worked for me on that order but so far this year I've waited 45mins to get two $5 orders at Kmart. Also went to Sears to pick up four items, missing two $5.50 items and I ask the manager to make it clear that it's not going to show me as picking up the items the store was shown as having ready...he outright states, we didn't scan the items so they can't show as picked up. I get home and both items show as picked up.

They're a bunch of idiots there, no one knows what anyone else is doing. Sometimes it's to my advantage, sometimes it isn't.

Are those Lug Out's USA? Anyone here used them? Seems like they'd be a decent value.

I just have the Bolt-Out sets, but have seen the Lug-Outs locally. They are still USA. Some reviewers had great success with them, but others didn't, same kind of YMMV situation as anything for removing stuck/stripped things.

I was on trip last month and order for pickup at Sears which is far away from home. I entered the order number into their touchpad. About 2 min later is was cleared but I waited another 15 min before someone come out and tell me my item is not there. Same thing happened to this other guy who sat next to me. I rechecked my email on my phone and told him to go look again. He went back in kinda annoyed but he did come back out with my stuff. I missed my local Hometown Sears.

My nearest store has been good about order pickup, but a tip I heard recently for those of you whose stores try to pull that kind of BS to avoid having to give you the $5 coupon for taking more than 5 minutes: Use the Sears app on your phone to indicate that you're there for pickup in your car (even if you're standing inside the store), instead of checking in on the kiosk. That will require the employee to scan a barcode displayed on your phone to stop the clock.

I have these pliers. I have no complaints. This set is devoted to my soldering kit and it works very well in that capacity. I think I paid around $25 for my set when I got them on sale a year or two ago.

Are these better than the ones from Harbor Freight?

Thanks. I just bought this one. Earlier tonight I met a guy locally selling a 6 in CM, used, for $60. I passed on it because the switch was positional and he wouldn't come off of his price.

Man, the price on all the but remover items in the last day are back at full price. I can't figure out what sizes are missing compared to the Craftsman set, but I picked up this Irwin Bolt-Out remover set at Menards a couple months ago, and looks to still be on sale. I believe it is made in Taiwan, but I don't have the set in front of me at the moment. I've only had to use it once, but came worked great. I'm sure either set would be fine.

Argh, Sears...

I did notice one that hasn't been mentioned yet is still on sale:
$15.69 sale, $22 regularly Craftsman 5 pc. Power Bolt-out® Set

And a set of drill-type extractors:
$21.82 sale, $42 regularly Craftsman 7 pc. Drill-Out/Screw-Out Power Extractors

Actually I might have that first set. One of my earlier Sears purchases. I know it came in that small red case, but can't recall the exact contents.

$58.76 - Craftsman SAE/Metric Deep Impact Socket Set, cheapest I've seen for this set in a while. Been buying GearWrench more lately, but still had this in my bookmarks

I bought a new CMan 8" a year or two ago I think it was, wasn't the adjustable speed though. It was only rated 1/4 HP / 3.0 Amps... It was frustratingly weak... I suppose if all you wanted to grind was little things it would be okay but a workhorse it is not...

For $80 you can get something much beefier on CL or eBay...

The craftsman 8 inch bench grinder is 80.17 (from 169.99)

Yeah, the reviewers on that grinder sounded pretty underwhelmed. Apparently it uses a very outdated type of motor, with less precise speed control than others, and parts are unavailable for it.

Set of 5 Craftsman mini-pliers with case, Chinese-made but mostly great reviews (unlike the full-size pliers that came out in 2017), regularly $40 on sale for $18: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-5-pc-mini-pliers-set/p-00945671000P

And today they're down to $16.12! :eyecrazy: There's too many things I want right now and not enough points, but I think I'm gonna have to let these mini pliers jump to the front of the line now... the lowest I'd seen them all last year was $24.
