Oh, and the sandpaper portfolio is on a rare sale today too! $12 sale, $20 regular. I have one I got a few years ago, which I believe was on sale at the time too, but I haven't seen it back on sale at all last year.
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-9-x-11-in-sandpaper-50-pk/p-00922893000P

It's not designed for heavy bashing-around, but has worked well for me. Nice organizational method plus a bunch of sheets of decent sandpaper. I like the organization idea so much personally that if I ever end up with more paper than fits in this one (I added a handful of sheets to it) or want more grit categories, I plan to get a file sorter thing like this at an office supply store or dollar store to put them in. Especially on sale at this price, it's worth buying for the sandpaper if you don't have enough right now; if you've already got too much sandpaper and no good way to store it, consider buying an empty organizer without the Craftsman name on it at another store instead.

get the portfolio at staples for much much cheaper. i've been using brown legal folder ones - with the elastic snap cord - for decades. $2-$3...

And today they're down to $16.12! :eyecrazy: There's too many things I want right now and not enough points, but I think I'm gonna have to let these mini pliers jump to the front of the line now... the lowest I'd seen them all last year was $24.

Weakened and ordered a set.

I bought this some time ago.

Not at all impressed with the sandpaper. Includes 40 and 60 grit which I never use. Quality sandpaper is one of those, "yeah, this is nice" things.

In addition to picking up my online order of the mini pliers set this evening, I went inside to buy something in the fitness dept with the $10 offer from last week's game. Went to the tools register to buy it, and saw this in-store-only deal being promoted with a sign on one of those red Craftsman buckets they came out with last spring:

Date code in the lower left corner looked like it started Dec 31, 2017 and ends Jan 13, 2018. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere online, all week.

I see they don't mention the cost of the bucket. Probably something crazy like $10 or more.

If anyone's looking for a new coat, this offer seems to apply to at least the Levi's, Dockers, Structure, and Craftsman brands of coats. You have to spend at least $50 out of pocket (not from points) on the initial purchase, and in reward you'll receive $50 in points to use on something else.

"Members get $50 CASHBACK in points when you spend $50 or more on an Apparel purchase at Sears. Points awarded the next day and valid for 14 days. Max 50,000 points per member. ONLINE ONLY. Valid through January 13, 2018 11:59 PM CST"

Yeah, those are nice. I was eying them last week but didn't manage to get enough compatible points/offers to put together a $25+ ship-to-home order (they're ship-to-home only unless you live near one of the presumably-few stores that still has some locally). I already have one set of them from a couple years ago before they cleared out of my store, but might get a second set, if they remain shippable by the time I can do something about it again. :)

Ooo... I saw those at Menards before Christmas... Was thinking of getting them but they didn't have enough that I really needed so I passed. I think they were around $2 each back then?

Ended up just getting some paint tripods at HD for cheap, but I would really like some of these for sanding / routing too...

Maybe your experience will be better, but I'm not sure the trigrips are very good for routing. I've used them for sanding and they certainly grip way better than just laying a piece on a workbench. But using an orbital sander or hand sanding with them you still must be careful or the piece will start to walk around. I prefer to use the router table or to clamp a piece before using a router.

Sure, it all depends on the work-piece size...

Yeah, the reviewers on that grinder sounded pretty underwhelmed. Apparently it uses a very outdated type of motor, with less precise speed control than others, and parts are unavailable for it.

So I went ahead and purchased this since i had about 75 dollars in point i had to use in the next couple of weeks. net cost was about 7 bucks.
I figure as long as it runs enough for me to sharpen a few blades/bits and deburr/round a few pieces of metal till be a worthy 7 dollars spent.

Right off the bat i was missing the hand bolt for one of the rests. Of course i didn't notice this until after i just about had it fully assembled :p.

Back to sears tonight i go!~~~~

Darn, so close! Do you think a compatible bolt might be findable individually elsewhere? I think a buck or two would be worth not having to redo the assembly!

Usually the manuals have a 1-800 number to call and they can send out any missing parts...

Mayhew Dominator 58 inch Pry Bar. $70.03 on amazon, $62.99 on Sears. Lots of opportunities for points and/or coupons.

http://www.sears.com/mayhew-dominat...sellerId=SEARS&prdNo=7&blockNo=7&blockType=G7

I can only imagine the size of the box Sears would ship that in (maybe an old washer/dryer box). And the fact that there would be a good chance they would just throw it in the box, and after bouncing around in a UPS truck across the country, what are the chances that it is still in the box when it gets to your door rather than have punched its way out of the box at some point along the way.

Hopefully, that item would be drop-shipped directly from Mayhew, rather than come from a Sears warehouse.

The product pages that show items can only be shipped to home seem to indicate the item is going to be either shipped by a local Sears store elsewhere in the country, or drop-shipped directly by the vendor (manufacturer). Only the ones that show items can be shipped to your local store seem to come from an actual Sears distribution center (warehouse).

This one is only ship-to-home, so I don't think it's coming from a Sears warehouse. And I know personally I've never seen anything like that product at my Sears store. So I'm pretty sure it's a vendor drop-ship.

I bought this 60 inch long bar from Sears several years ago (for $13.97):

Ludell 60 in., 14 lb. Slate Heavy Duty Bar (currently $20.99)
www.sears.com/ludell-60-in-14-lb-slate-heavy-duty/p-00903926000P

Sears didn't bother with a box, they just taped the shipping label to the bar with clear packing tape. It arrived undamaged. Though I imagine the sharp unprotected point did some damage to other packages on the way.

:lol_hitti

(For comparison purposes, I see that one has the ship-to-store option enabled and thus is probably still being handled by a Sears warehouse, unlike the Mayhew.)

And in a year or two, Lowe's should also be an option.
(Correction: The current estimate is late 2018, 1.5-2 years from when SBD acquired the Craftsman brand back in early 2017, but not still 1.5-2 years from now.)

Neither will have exact matches for some of the more specialized things Sears still sells, for example they'll have some kind of screwdrivers but it might just be the basic red/blue-handle ones instead of the fancy Extreme Grip ones.

god i hope so, combined with their coupons? win win. i wish lowe's could get milwaukee back as well. i'd be in heaven. hard for sears to compete with lowes, menards or HD with the tool selection they have now, and the no hassle return policies on appliances, etc... sad to see our sears go but at the same time i'm more shocked it wasn't years ago.

Heaven will have to wait. It may be a separate company, and Milwaukee does sell thru other dealers, but TTI (Ryobi/Ridgid/Milw) is tied at the hip to HD.

Do it soon though as all the made in USA(WF) ones are NOS at this point.

I bought a pick mattock from Sears, came in a HUGE box probably like 5' x 2' x 3' or something there about... filled with foam peanuts... and of course the pick side was poking out of the side of the box. It was shipped from the local sears though so it's not like it had far to travel.

At Sears, and probably the smaller assortment at Ace that I believe was sourced through Sears in a contract arranged before the SBD sale, that is true.

For what will eventually be available at Lowe's, SBD has made statements indicating they plan to scale up US production for their upcoming Craftsman-branded products, thus the delay.

It's quite a roller coaster for the classic Craftsman screwdriver's COO.

When they announced SBD purchased Craftsman, the screwdriver was still Made in USA.

Then, manufacturers begin to abandon Sears, and it eventually became Made in China.

And in the future, it will come from SBD as Made in USA with global materials.
