I got a call from my hometown, they didn't have the USA linesman pliers... :(

I told him just to cancel it, no big deal... He calls me later saying it won't let him refund the points and next time I'm in the store he can give me cash... lol... Oh well, I'll probably end up spending it there anyhow...
Wow, that is great service.

Remember the updates I posted earlier this year about Sears Auto losing tire vendors? Now they have a solution for that - buy your tires from Amazon.com and just pay Sears Auto to install them.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/09/sears-is-working-with-amazon-to-deliver-and-install-car-tires.html

" Sears is working with Amazon to deliver and install car tires
- Sears will use its Auto Centers to help install car tires ordered on Amazon.
- In the deal, there will be a "standard installation fee" paid to Sears for any services booked via Amazon.
- Sears has already started selling two of its brands, Kenmore and DieHard, on Amazon.

Lauren Thomas
Published 9 Hours Ago

Sears Holdings is taking its relationship with Amazon one step further. The department store chain announced Wednesday at its annual shareholders meeting in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, that it will offer full-service tire installation for orders from all tire brands on Amazon, including its own DieHard.
...
The rollout will begin in the coming weeks for those customers who live within range of 47 Sears Auto Centers in eight metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. The service will eventually go live at Sears' more than 400 Auto Centers across the U.S., to reach more of Amazon's customers.

The checkout process will look something like this, a Sears spokesman explained to CNBC:

1. A customer selects the tires he or she wants, from any brand, on Amazon.
2. He or she selects "Yes, I want these tires shipped to and installed at Sears Auto Center." (The shipment of the tires to the Sears Auto Center would be handled by Amazon, not Sears.)
3. The customer then provides three appointment times that are convenient for the installation.
4. The chosen Sears Auto Center will then match the customer's schedule preferences with its appointment openings.
5. Sears Auto Center then emails a confirmation through Amazon to the customer ahead of the appointment, which can still be altered.

With any appointment, there will be a "standard installation fee" paid to Sears that covers installation, balancing, under hood/under car evaluation, a road safety test and other precautionary steps, the spokesman said.
... "

The other item was sold by Sears, correct? You can't combine items from two stores to get free shipping, you have to hit the threshold with products from one store. Most websites are like that, they don't allow you to mix and match.

Sometimes you can find the same item at both stores so you may be able to order everything from one store and get the free shipping.

I actually searched Kmart site for both items, knowing that's how it works. Don't know what was up with the shipping and the taxes. So, I just gave up and bought something else.

Anyone know what the "fee" is? I'm guessing the under hood and car evaluation will be for Sears to attempt to sell more service since they have the car in shop.

Extech BR80, rebranded as Craftsman. Might be good for a backup:

Craftsman Borescope $54.20 ($44.20 after coupon)

Free S&H, or ship-to-store.

Not a Hot Buy, so use a $10 off $50 tools coupon from RetailMeNot.

Amazon

Thanks. Pulled the trigger.

Got it for $37.40 out of pocket, and getting $10.50 back in bonus points.

I don't know if it will be the same with the Amazon deal, but here was a quote someone got at Sears Auto about 6 months ago: https://blog.cheapism.com/best-price-tire-installation-7-chains-face-4204/#image=2

"At Sears, we were quoted $22 per tire for an installation package that covers mounting, valve stems, lifetime balancing and tire rotation, and a multi-point inspection. But there's also an additional cost for services sometimes included in competitors' cheaper packages, such as $3 per tire for disposal, $44 for a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) kit, and $77 for a road hazard warranty that covers tire failure under normal driving conditions."

Excluding the warranty, that adds up to $144 for a set of 4.

So I really like these hoodies that they sell at Sears and have been blowing out for cheap. http://www.sears.com/dickies-young-...cket/p-043VA94075912P?redirectType=SKIP_LEVEL

I ordered two more a while back of different colors and was sent two of the same color. Then they tried to ship me another one of the correct color and sent me the color I ordered of a different hoodie. Each time the order is wrong they just tell me to keep the wrong one for free and place a new order for the correct item. Out of the last deal I ended up with 2 free items by the time I got the two items I actually ordered.

Seeing how they screwed this up multiple times I had another free points on clothing last week so I ordered another. Figuring why not try again and get another color or another free item. I should have known better. Yesterday this showed up instead of my hoodie. http://www.sears.com/simply-styled-...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

I don't know what to make of how this happens so much other than employees just don't care with Sears go out and just send you whatever in the same size since they know you will get it for free.

Just got my full price refunded and another order placed. This time the price was cheaper and they gave me free shipping even though less than $35 for my hassle. This is becoming like a game.

They appologized and said I will never face this issue again at the end. haha if they only knew.

CBS News reported this morning that installation and balancing would be $17 per tire. Of course, they didn’t mention any of those other items.

Around here most of the garages charge an “environmental fee” in addition to most of those extra charge items. It allegedly covers things like disposal of greasy shop rags and such. The amount is all over the place.

Already marked as shipped with a tracking number, and already got my $10.50 in points. But the points have a short fuse, 7 days.

I get the anticipated ship time, but what I dont get is the wide variance that each local store says it will receive it. A two week variance depending on what store I pick. Just picked up 2 cotter key ones, now wishing I only got 1.

The new ACE has the USA Craftsman linesman pliers, but you have to pay full price there which is not nearly as fun as buying from Sears.

Just got a phone call, my C3 Jig Saw came in today! Amazingly they only pushed the date back once for it, I was sweating thinking it would get pushed back again due to the website ETA dates...

Going to go pick up tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out.

I've heard they often get clothes orders wrong like that, but they occasionally manage to screw up on tools/outdoor stuff too - what was it someone on SD received a while back instead of the cheap item they ordered, some kind of large tool worth 5-10x what the one they paid for was... can't recall the specifics. Mistakes are more likely with stuff shipped to home, since those items can come from other local stores (where shipping orders is just a side job to them rather than their main focus); items being shipped to your local store for pickup seem to only come either from a Sears warehouse or straight from the manufacturer.

I picked up my 3 piece chisel set today. COO is China. I did look on the shelf and this must have been the last one. There are still two of the USA made 6 piece Craftsman punch and chisel sets left that were half price sometime in the fall.

I have to install an exterior electric box and run the Romex through a brick and block basement wall.

I bought the 6 piece set chisel online, and had just picked it up yesterday. COO is China which does not surprised me. So if anyone see US made one in store, better buy them before they are gone.

FYI it helps to post the details not in a quote box (like I've pasted it back in above), so that they get included in quotes of your post in replies (nested quotes get automatically stripped out).

This is the same kind of deal they've run a couple times in the last few weeks, only applicable to a few very specific items. I think this might be a new twist: "5/11-5/12 or until 350 units are sold, whichever is first." - doesn't specify whether they mean 350 units total across all participating items, or per item.

The participating items are on the Sears.com homepage:

a lawnmower - http://www.sears.com/craftsman-11a-a0ma799-37299-21inch-132cc-side-discharge-mulch/p-A013300252
an edger - http://www.sears.com/craftsman-25cc-2-cycle-curved-shaft-weedwacker-gas/p-07179437000P
a grill - http://www.sears.com/kenmore-3-burner-patio-grill-foldable-side/p-A017253552
a patio set - http://www.sears.com/garden-oasis-harrison-7-piece-dining-set/p-07153183000P

I wonder... can potential buyer know if they already sold 350 units? If I am the buyer, I would want to know that I am getting the points for sure before I pay the item.

Hopefully they would take the offer down from that item when they reach the quota on it, but there very well could be some overlap time before that happens, yeah.

They have been doing that, but last week the limit was 500.

The item will show as "sold out" and unavailable if that number of units have been sold. The total is per item, nationwide.

I almost bought the PW with 100% cash back @ $350 last week but my understanding was you had to spend each months awards within 15 days of issuance. That coupled with the fact they might not make it 12 months I decided not to do it. The same pressure washer was $250 afterwards too.

You could have got an adjustment on it if you had bought it at the $350

From the T&C it appears to be 30 days, and there is effectively zero risk they won't "make it 12 months". In the extremely unlikely event they did declare bankruptcy, they would have to honor that commitment. Pretty low risk, actually.

If interested, don't wait too long, multiple items sold out early last week, and with the quantity reduced to 350 most things will likely sell out soon.

I wouldn't count on this having any value in the event of a bankruptcy, but I agree that it is still a ways off. There is still a lot of one-time cash infusions remaining to burn through as they sell off the remaining real estate and brands.

If you have a need/desire for one of the items participating in these deals (were going to spend the money on a 'whatever' at one store or another soon), I think it is worthwhile.

Back in stock for ship to home as of 5/11 @ 8am PST. I got some more using points came out to $11 each out the door. I probably have too many now if that's a thing, but considering how nice these are I don't think I will regret it one bit.

Or the gearwrench version for almost twice as much is an option too.

Thanks for the heads-up that it's back again. Craftsman hose pinch-off pliers = Mac Tools = Gearwrench = K-D Tools = SK Tools, all have basically identical versions of this. Unfortunately Craftsman only has the large version, while the other brands offer medium and small sizes (available on Amazon).

Edit: Never mind, sold out again already. :(

Shoot! I'll send you a pair for what I paid if you want em? I feel bad I took one of the last sets. I just didn't want one of the reseller types to get to them.

Looks like a potential HEADACHE for the buyers that are #351 and higher.

They had more control of offers like this with the SYW VIP program, which offered a limited number of 100% back coupons for a product. Plus, they loaded the earned points all at one time, with at least a 90-day expiration.

Yeah if you live close enough they are able to be ordered. But they ship them some slower way with the rest of the store's inventory. There are apparently endless amounts of them if you are in the Midwest like 60002, they let me add 999 to the cart where this latest deal the most you could add was 5-6 (not that I bought that many). Probably because they just have KD or whomever run off that many, stamp craftsman on it, and send it. These don't come in a normal box with even a barcode. Just plain white carton and a MAC part number. No Craftsman anywhere. They are typically out of them and only put a few out at a time. Maybe they will put out more if they want more money. Sears logic.

Mine are all supposed to be in store Monday. Last time they UPSd them right to the store and just handed me the mailer so it was really that quick. Tracking already shows they went out
