Walked around the store a bit tonight and they are fully stocked like there is no intention of closing and either the staff was playing dumb or they really have no clue cause I asked a couple different people when everything in the store was going on the "store closing sale" and none of them seemed to know what I was talking about. I'll be heading back at the end of next week so see what kind of deals they are having and then probably at least once a week thereafter just to see whats available.

I'm guessing they were some of the very-part-time employees (Sears has many store employees now working less than 10 hours a week :( ), who weren't on duty when the store manager presumably shared the bad news a day or two ago. It's official from the Sears corporate website, so I'd be surprised if the manager was still not telling anyone.

Has anyone gotten the 48 piece Craftsman thread restorer kit, which was on deal around the 18th or 19th of July? I ordered and was told in store pickup on Aug 2, which has come and gone. Called and told to expect it Aug 21, which is also now past. Getting ready to call CS again, but was curious if anyone else here had any other information on this. Thanks! Jim

Not me, but here's the product page link: https://www.sears.com/craftsman-48-pc-sae-metric-thread-restorer-kit/p-00942275000P

It is now "Temporarily unavailable" (nobody can order it anymore), so don't cancel your order if you want a chance of ever getting one. (Sometimes dead products revive from that status weeks or months later, sometimes they don't.)

People who've had similar unexpected delays on receiving other products have *usually* eventually received them, I think.

There is a 40pc set that is readily available (even in stock locally).

Anyone took advantage of the "Members get $50 CASHBACK in points when you spend $50 or more on qualifying purchases at select Searsstores and Sears.com." yet?

I have but haven't received my points yet. It stated that I would not receive my points until my item is delivered or picked up, I chose delivery option and supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

My items were delivered yesterday and I have still not received my points, is this common? This is actually my first time ordering from sears and dealing with their point system. Does it usually take a while to receive points or is something wrong and I need to try and get a hold of their customer service?

My order details has said "Your points are pending. Please check back later" since the 19th

I got my first $25 installment on this $50 promo 24 hours after my order shipped, so before I got my items.

Ok, thanks, I need to give them a call then

Edit; just called them and got it fixed, evidently my account was suspended because it was "dormant" for not being used for such a long time lol. All good now and I got my first set of points.

I've had a couple items shipped to store that got delayed by a month. I would just be patient, the company that makes them is probably just behind in orders and I'm sure Sears is probably at the bottom of the list to fulfill.

Usually it happens within 24hrs of when the item is shipped. Just to be safe I would till this evening and if you don't get the points then CHAT with customer service online and they can add them to your account.

Weird. How long had it been unused?

On vacation this past week in NE Michigan. There was a small Sears there that handled appliances, lawn tractors, mattresses, and some Craftsman tools. Picked up a couple pair of Craftsman 10" tongue & groove pliers made by Western Forge on clearance for $10. A handful of Craftsman Pro torx drivers also made by WF for $1.88 each and a USA made set of metric nut-drivers. They also still had some V and VV wrenches on the rack mixed with Chinese made stuff. Some regular Craftsman screwdrivers by WF also mixed in. All of the sockets and ratchets I looked at were Chinese made. Kinda neat seeing some old stuff on the shelf.

Nice finds, not a lot of that stuff still on the shelves. Craftsman broke up with Western Forge last summer (over a year ago).

Follow-up from the chat price-match discussion from earlier this week... I finally did my Kmart.com attempt this evening (had a Kmart-specific offer to use; the supposed-to-be-monthly toys promotion from 3 months ago finally started working). Fortunately my item was down to just $0.63 more than Walmart/Amazon, because it turns out they're still acting like Kmart is a completely separate company from Sears on this aspect, lol. "I am sorry to let you know that, Kmart does not offer price match or price protection."

For those who still have a nearby Kmart, someone on SD says they found many garden/outdoor items are on 90%-off clearance there currently, including "Roundup and outdoor cushions and chairs and garden statues".

Not surprising they did not know... the store management team is usually gone shortly after an announcement and the store is turned over to a liquidator that brings in their own team.

For those who are interested in the offer to spend $50+ OOP pre-tax and get back 2x $25, apparently it can be done twice in this round, once online and once in-store. This offer began on 8/19 and ends this Saturday 9/1.

For Knipex, has anyone been able to get Sears to waive shipping as part of a price match with Home Depot or another store? Or is everyone putting in $35 or higher orders for free shipping? Or just paying the 6.25 shipping?

I always ordered mine with fillers to get to $35. I never pay shipping.

Just want to add that I think late last year (November?) up to early this year (March?), Sears lower the free shipping to $25. Someone can correct me if I am wrong here about the time period. I did most of my Knipex orders at that time knowing that this deal is not going to last long. I also prioritize buying anything that I can not pick-up locally at that time.

I am not saying that Sears will do this again this year, but something that we all should keep an eye out. I find it very helpful to have a list of things that I like to get so if there is a coupon or freecash, I can jump on it quickly.

Yes, that timeframe sounds about right. If someone really wants to know the exact days it started and ended, we posted about it many pages ago as it happened. I wouldn't count on them doing it again this year, though. They ended it (going from $25 min back to $35 min) several months earlier than had been stated in the free shipping promo terms, due to a sudden corporate cost-cutting move.

I wish they would make it free shipping over thirty dollars. That would work perfectly with the five off thirty five coupons.

Thumbs-up to Midwest Tool & Cutlery for their packaging on drop-shipped orders. I had a pair of their aviation snips shipped to my Sears store recently, and not only did they use a reasonably-sized box, they even filled all excess space with a nice wad of bubble wrap so the snips could hardly move around at all.

If any of you aren't stuck in coupon-drought mode like me and most frequent customers have been for the past 2.5 months, both Sears and Kmart are currently giving out the special variable-amount bounceback coupons with the physical coupon card, on in-store purchases. I made an in-store purchase at Sears today and the guy in front of me received a $10 off $10+ one. According to SD, it will be valid 9/4 through 9/30 (so they'll probably stop giving them out on 9/3). Buying something without using your account probably won't work to receive these, since the variable value has to get assigned to your account.

PS: I overheard the Sears Auto cashier tell a customer she works 70-80 hours a week, on 'salary' with no additional compensation. Weird compared to the non-auto side's model of having a bunch of part-timers each getting puny amounts of hours. :dunno:

Worked for me, says I'm getting "$10 in freecash in points" but it doesn't start till tomorrow according to upgrading so it isn't showing up in my account. The text I got back from Sears did not give dates..?

I have never received $5 off a $35 purchase. :( Do you guys receive these in the Shop Your Way "deal center?"

And texting savings didn't work. I still can't believe that I received zero coupons in store using my account, and a bunch of them when I made a dollar purchase with no account. Well, I shouldn't say I don't believe it, that's just Sears being Sears.

RetailMeNot was generating a $5 off $35 in tools coupon code a couple of weeks ago... and I used to always get $7 off $35 or $8 off $40 coupons on the "Order Submitted" page and in the order confirmation e-mail... but those stopped for me about 2 months ago.

I get texts from Sears (and Kmart) every week about FreeCash being added to my account... but I log in and there's nothing.

I did, however, text "CLUB" (as in the old Craftsman Club) to 73277 earlier this month... and they sent me a $10 off $50 in tools coupon. I had trouble redeeming it (I got a message saying my account was restricted from using coupons because I entered too many invalid ones... maybe trying to re-use the $5 off $35 one?)... but I used the online chat and the rep applied it for me.

All it did for me was tell my points amount

Texting SAVINGS didn't work for me either.

Same here SAVINGS did not work for me.

Same for me. I haven't had a text-for-points thing come through for me in months either, same as the in-store coupons stopped generating for me. The text reply always just says how many points I already have and links to the points page, or links to the coupons page with nothing new appearing in it. They've been cutting waaaay back on offers/coupons to frequent customers.

The guy in front of me at the store yesterday, who got the $10 off $10+ coupon card, said when the cashier encouraged him to come back soon, "I'll keep coming back as long as you're giving me free money!". Sooo you can guess what will happen when he gets into 'too frequent for Sears to care about anymore' status. ;)

Thank you @btoonsis. CLUB works - got $10 off $50

Perfect timing. I been eyeing this Gearwrench impact set...
