Well my 42in International top box just got cancelled.
i got another 42" for dirt cheap, but yeah mine just got canceled too. guess they realized how much money they were going to lose. their email said my card was credited in the OOP amount, but i almost expect to have to fight with them about it. pretty disappointed about this one

Was it just Reds that were cancelled for you guys on the 42"?

Pretty sure I ordered a Black that is allegedly scheduled for in-store pickup 1/7, although I knew at the time of placing my order to not hold my breath.

No cancellation notice as of the time of typing this...

That "Craftsman Canopy 27 in. Red" I had ordered with everyone else is still listed as "preparing to ship" and keeps updating the delivery date to 2 days from current. Had to use the $25 in points from that purchase as they were going to expire. Hope it doesn't get cancelled, it's the only reason I had made another purchase -- to use the expiring points.

I received notice from Sears that my canopies shipped. However the tracking number they sent shows that it's still preparing for shipment.

However I've the UPS my choice or whatever it's called. And they sent me a notification that the items are shipping and will be delivered tomorrow. All four canopies.

Just received my tracking number today for Derma Logistics with source terminal Elk Grove, IL. It’s buired next to the item part number since the top of the notice just says truck shipping company.

Well thanks but it's unlikely. I ordered pretty late in the game, I bet you ordered before me.

Not that we'd expect Sears to necessarily use such logic -- or any logic

Yep, IIRC my cancelled saw order last month was placed (at a reasonable price, not some super low price) earlier than some other people's orders that shipped. :dunno:

my 27" canopy shows OFD today, so they definitely shipped them :)

my 42" top box was red with black drawers. i plan to chat today or tonight and see what they can do for me--going to ask for a price match w/free shipping on another that size and when they say no i'll ask if they could provide any points to put toward another order and figure they'll at least comp me $10, $20 if i'm really lucky and find the right rep.

worst case scenario is they say no and i still walk away with the $20 they gave me in points to put toward it in the first place, so i cant be tooo mad. but man would that box have been nice for that price ;)

I ordered the 54" CM 7 drawer for what I thought was a stupid price...hopefully it ships. I was hoping to use it for my sockets/ratchets.

Maybe it's just the International branded stuff that is getting cancelled...

Just for kicks I searched for Knipex today and found this set of pliers. I think I'll add it to my next points order.

Knipex 10 in. Alligator Pliers $21.22

My refund didn't show up over night, I'm going to give it a couple more days before I dispute the charge.

It's probably going to take 1-2 weeks just like my refund did. :dunno:

OK, my refunds both showed up, so I'm officially sucked back into the Sears worm hole. Now if only they would but something on sale that I want before my meager supply of points expire on the 25th.

Let us know how that works out. I chatted with them yesterday, I did not ask about any comp. I was asking if they know when it will be available - they said maybe in the next few days. IMHO that is a BS answer, I am pretty sure they do not know :lol_hitti

It's been a while since the bankruptcy liquidations began, and I was in a neighboring town with a Sears store that will soon disappear. The tool dept is now down to 40% off, but most of the stuff is gone.

It's amazing how similar it is to a Sears store liquidation from six years ago. You'd think more people would have smartphones now, so they can quickly check Sears.com and realize they are overpaying. :wtf:

Well my 42in International top box just got cancelled. Anyone else bought this?

Was very close to buying that, ended up figuring since they were out of business I didn't want the hassle. I'd stay away from a bankrupt company selling the goods from another bankrupt company at this point. Really focusing on in store items now, especially those that don't show in online inventories. Picked up an old stock 31" non strike pry bar for $7.88 recently that way and found one last 36" strike cap pry at a different store. Also starting to see old stock USA individual extensions/sockets/wrenches again showing up.

In-store clearance pricing for Sears confuses me up to this day.

For example, the remaining Gladiator stock started ringing up at full price. The employees admit they were supposed to get rid of that brand a year ago, but have no clue how to go back to clearance pricing for it.

What's the hassle w some sheetmetal run through a brake and some drawer slides?

If I can't figure out how to fix a problem w a tool box I don't deserve to own the tools that are in it.

Oh this was actually even more fun because it didn't ring up in their system anymore at all. They almost didn't want to sell it to me. Luckily the hometown website still listed it under "items no longer in stock" and I got them (after much arguing) to match that price since they couldn't come up with a different price.

But yes all the old normal secret clearance deals have fallen off the system of late. If you run across an 8" drill press now it will be $99 not $24 and same goes for the 2.5 ton jack that was briefly $19

What's different about buying old stock tools or old stock tool boxes from companies that are both on their way to extinction?

You guys are missing the point. Sure if you get the item who cares. I'm saying not everyone wants to tie up several hundred on their credit cards this time of year indefinitely if there is good cause the item will never ship. Glad you got yours, not everyone on this thread is as fortunate...

That's a different point. I could understand that I been in the market for a toolbox for a while I been saving for a rs pro these boxes made more since. I worked extra hours all summer and saved $100/every two week paycheck to buy a box my budget was 1200$ I got this box for 900$ with 500$ cash back been doing all the kids Christmas shopping with the points. So it just made sense to buy it. I understand some of the issues with racking up debt around the holidays. I didn't understand that is what you were saying the first time. I thought you meant that people shouldn't buy discounted items from bankrupt companies not because one might not get the item but because the company was bankrupt and wouldn't support the item.

Don't mind the mess it was pouring down rain.
My pliers finally fit all together.

Excellent! One of these day (if Sears do not cancel my order!) I will have a proper box for my pliers and other tools. Currently have two small boxes and they are all piled on top of each other lol

...

That reminds me of another example of surprisingly Sears-esque experiences recently at other non-bankrupt retailers... (I also mentioned recently about Lowe's inventory issues.)

I had Walmart actually refuse to sell me a clearance extension cord recently. I had been so glad to actually find one buried behind a jumbled mess of other cords on the shelves. It had lost its tag, there were no others left, and the um undereducated employees, including a manager,
a) had no awareness of their extension cord stock range, even the inexperienced 'tool department' person who seemed like they had never lifted a hammer in their life other than to put it on the shelf, and refused to listen to me that this was the only cord with these specs they had carried, and I had all the SKU/UPC info for it :headshake
b) had no idea how to use anything except their smartphones on the public walmart.com website to look up information about their inventory :wtf:
c) had no idea how the whole concepts of clearance and wholesale distribution work - they had no interest in trying to sell the stupid thing because they thought sending this thing back would get them reimbursed for the full original shelf price :spit:
d) had no interest in customer satisfaction - didn't care one bit about me leaving empty-handed and frustrated after a huge waste of time

Sooo it's not as if there's some significant difference in customer service and employee competence between Sears and their surviving competitors. :dunno: At least Sears gave me stuff for putting up with them, nice while it lasted (not quite dead yet, but not much longer).

fyi...got my 27" canopy today, one day ahead of estimated date they gave upon checkout. its not bad looking, feels decently well made. the plaque says Craftsman Professional but i'm not sure if its the same as their Pro line or not. the hutch has inner walls on both sides that have holes for pegs, which is nice as that wasn't in pics online. the gas struts feel solid and the lid hinges easily. the paperwork even says it's powdercoated, which is both surprising and a nice upgrade from the regular/heavy duty CM cabinets i've picked up this summer which are only painted.

i picked this up because why not for $25 with $25 back in points, but i was actually hoping it would fit on top of my 27" CM cabinet. no dice, unfortunately, as this one is 26.75" W and the CM is 26.5" lip to lip. no biggie though as my second idea was to set this on the end of my workbench and just use it as a hutch. IMHO if you can pick one up, especially for $25, def get it. and if that's $25 in points? you should be arrested for stealing :)

I dragged all 4 canopies into my foyer and stacked them 2x2...they're bigger than I thought haha...not sure why I ddin't think 27" was 27"...

Haven't unboxed them yet...won't get around to it until this weekend when I mount them to shelving I'll anchor above my one workbench...will upload a pic then. Then in the spring everything will come back down as I enclose the walls...

That is kinda lousy to give the customer a different item. I think most people probably would not realize it.

This should be a warning sign that perhaps these US made pry bars are being replaced by cheaper pry bars.

The new pry bars I saw were made in India. I think that coo is one of the worst places to have tools made.

I'm sure they are functionally fine, but the handles on the indian made pry bars looked a little on the cheap side when I was at the store. Average person probably wouldn't even have noticed unless they saw the old USA versions. No strike cap either.

I just cleared most of my $70.** points on a Capri Tools master hex bit set I’d had in my cart for a while. It was $76, but with the 15% off sale and a $5 off $35 coupon and free shipping it cost me $59.60. I used $59.59 in points and paid a penny out of pocket. For some reason there was an error when I tried to use all points, but it went through fine with me paying a penny. The Amazon price is $52.99, so this was close enough.

https://www.sears.com/capri-tools-m...d=AutoToolGuys&prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

My Capri set arrived today, new in the wrapper as expected. Fast shipping.

A piece of plywood will fix that....

wider top, narrower bottom at my BP:

Granted a canopy may require a touch more ingenuity and maybe some paint....but this is GJ - we're supposed to know how to use tools, a tape measure and a bit of imagination

yeah, ive got the dims to make a butcher block top (already planned to make a bb top regardless) and that would look pretty good since theres no bottom on the hutch. but i like the idea of using it on the work bench just a little bit more--that way i can keep certain things handy and not have to worry about getting them dirty

I received my 42" SHD International from Sears today.
It's a great box. Really well built. I am pleased as punch.

I stuck it between my 72" Husky with the moveable top and my 70's 26" Craftsman I've had since high school.
It sits 3 1/2" higher than either of those, thanks partly to the monster casters on it.

Latching deep drawers and a top made out of MDF with a stainless cap top.
