Thanks for the reply. :) Interesting idea about putting those magnet strips behind the panels for more hold, but I think they are longer than the sides of these squares, FWIW.

...But I guess it's too late now anyway.

True. The magnetic strips are 18" and the panels 12", so you you'd have to put 2 strips end to end for every 3 panels widthwise. If not trying to put 3 in a row...a little known secret (I think?) is that those HF magnetic strips aren't one long magnet, they are actually made up of 8 separate magnets that are easy to extract with a screwdriver and a few minutes.

Apologies for the numerous posts with expired deal-adjacent info fellas.

not for nothing...but those HF magnet strips are freakin' awesome. i picked up 2 dozen when they were on sale for 99 cents and plan on picking up 2 dozen more as soon as i see them go on sale again. theyre powerful and perfect to use so many places. i lined the back of my CM tower so the back doesnt get scratched against the concrete walls in my garage, and am working on lining the inner front/back of my drawers so my wrenches dont move around when i open/close the doors. plus i lined a whole section of pegboard vertically with them to keep all my pliers organized. cant recommend them enough

sorry for being off topic. ive got no deals to post this time :( though i will say i wouldnt be surprised for lampert to still shut sears down--ive got a sneaking suspicion he bought it so he could pirate all its parts and sell them off for more then theyre worth as a whole, like an internal corporate raider. but by the time that happens at least all of my points should have paid out.

Yes, I'm sure it's still only a matter of time, but it will be a lot slower process under him (same as it has been slowly picked apart for years already) rather than immediate armageddon.

Post a few pics of your magnet setups if you can... there's a Craftsman toolchest involved so it's still Sears-related. ;)

FYI this morning from a knowledgeable person on SD, who has helped many seniors in their area order from Sears/Kmart:

" Was forwarded a message from an ex-client who could not get free shipping unless they removed all point redemptions. Message from Sears CSR:

"Certain larger and heavier items no longer qualify for free shipping if you redeem any points with the order, regardless of the amount. In light of increased shipping costs, we have had to re-evaluate our free shipping policies."

Not sure when this went into effect or what the item was, but perhaps this came when they raised the bar on free shipping last month. This is not unprecedented considering Kmart cracking down on free shipping of bulky grocery/paper products. As they close stores the hope was people would order online instead. Instead, people shop somewhere else. As orders decline, the shipping discounts Sears and Kmart used to get have greatly diminished. With fewer shipping depots, distance based shipping costs have also increased. "

I would think all those Craftsman and International tool boxes they clearanced with free shipping around Christmas really killed them.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too. Though some of those prices were so low and with no freight charge, that I don't think Sears could have made much on them even if Sears got the toolchests for free and people paid entirely OOP.

I ordered six of the magnetic panels and they were supposed to be at my local Sears store yesterday...so far nothing..still shows as processing for pick up, sort of reminds me of the cap ended USA pry bars that never showed up.

However, getting back to the magnetic panels, assuming they are used in a steel tool box and that they would probably work better or as well without the red metal tray backing that they come with....anybody find a good use/re-purpose for the left over trays???...anybody???

IIRC I paid about $20.00 for ones like that from "Woodcraft"
They are not worth a nickle!!
Won't hold even a larger wrench with out falling down easily.
The few dollar HF ones blow them Out of the Water.

My case of 10 magnetic panels was just delivered. Good Lord, they're heavy! I wasn't expecting that. I guess I didn't realize they came with the mounting panel and hardware. I'll open them all up and start putting them in my toolbox drawers tomorrow . Incidentally, they shipped them in the master case that comes packaged 9, so they shipped the 10th one loose. When I got 2 tracking numbers from Sears I was expecting two packages of 5

If you still want those and still have a local Sears, check out the prybar section in-person. I think I posted a couple weeks ago that my Sears now has a full peg of the US-made cap-end prybar sets, despite the website still claiming they aren't available at that store.

From what I read in the reviews a while back (no personal experience), I think that might be assuming too much... it sounded like they should be used with the trays for best results regardless of what you're using them on. The metal the panels themselves are made of apparently is on the thinner side and the trays help reinforce it from bending, especially when pulling the panel off of the metal surface to rearrange things.

If you want to try without the trays anyway, I guess you could use the trays as shallow drawer organizers for nonmagnetic items, but they probably aren't very good for much beyond the intended purpose.

Well right after I posted the above, Sears sent an email saying my order was in and ready for pick up. But alas, the guy at Sears couldn't find them anywhere. We went out on the floor and found 3, so he gave me those and refunded for the 3 I didn't get. Of course a simple refund was out of the question...we went through the rigamarole of pretending to return 3 to get the refund. So now there will be a missing three running through their inventory just like the missing 6 that I had ordered (this assumes that the 3 on the floor were already there and not part of my 6 and they already sold 3 before I could get there.) Oh well, the Sears band plays on...for now.

Thanks, I keep an eye out for them. Well I looked quite a bit for those, but not every time I go there....still even if I find them who knows what the price would be...if they're not a bargain or I don't have points or free cash I won't buy them even if made in the USA with caps.

Those are only magnetic one one side, correct? I don't think I've ever looked at them in store, but online the description sounds like you would have to screw /secure them to something to use them as intended.

I bought four of the panels and picked them up today. They are a bit flimsy when removed from the red backing, but once stuck to something they should be fine. I stuck one to the fridge and tested it with a 3/8" ratchet and it holds well but not too firm. I'm hoping they will hold my pry bars to the side of my tool box, as I don't like how I have them stored now. I'm kicking myself for not buying more since I think I'll find these quite useful.

As for the red backing "tray", it really doesn't look like it will be useful for anything. I offered them to my wife, and she is thinking about using them to make signs with some vinyl lettering.

Just got done putting mine in my toolbox drawers. I left a few right in the red trays and the rest I put the panel directly in the drawer over the liner. Plenty strong. I cut a couple using tin snips to fill the larger drawer. They cut very easily. Cut the 2 ends then bend back and forth to snap the center. It may be overkill and an inefficient use of space, but for $7 each, it doesn't bother me. Now, nothing will roll around when I open my drawers.

they are in a slip with metal sides/back that extend at least an inch on either side of the magnets with holes so they can be secured, yes. for my box its a moot point as i put the magnet side to the box so the metal frame takes any abuse from contact with the concrete wall.

The 30%-back on select items ends Sat 1/19 and is online-only.

Here's a big wrench set, and a couple of socket sets, that are also participating in the 30% deal.
$64.99 sale https://www.sears.com/craftsman-52pc-combination-wrench-set/p-A022335347
$24.99 sale https://www.sears.com/craftsman-25pc-3-8in-socket-wrench-set/p-A022187663
$19.99 sale https://www.sears.com/craftsman-24pc-drive-socket-and-ratchet-set/p-A028691137

As always, reducing your OOP amount with points/coupons will reduce the amount you get back.

There appears to be an error with the 30% cashback in points offer. Pay with points, and the 30% offer still applies like your paying OOP. It kind of feels like taking advantage of a price mistake. :ninja:

Went to sears to pick up a few items today and sad to see the store is also scheduled to be closed. 30% off regular price now, may have to wait a bit longer to see if they will drop more the price. This happened just a few days ago because I was still allowed to order and pick up my order from this store on Monday. Now there will be no more sears within 20 miles radius. BTW, this is sear hardware store.

That's part of the franchise spinoff SHOS (rather than the main Sears corporation), in case you weren't aware of that already. Its brands are Sears Hometown, Sears Outlet, Sears Hardware & Appliance, and Sears Home Appliance Showrooms.

Shipping kills it for me. Comes up as $20.25 with no other options. :dunno:

not sure about the milwaukee deal--i didnt put it in cart and just looked on the seller page and it said $6.25 shipping from that seller.

heres another deal thats not that great but ok. still cheaper than most other places im seeing it and ~ harbor freight-ish price for CM

Craftssman CM 3 TON SERVICE JACK $109.99 with $11.10 back in points. this has been in my wishlist for a few weeks and it was down to $89.99 on a hot buy just last week but went back up before the 15th's points refill. note the misspelling in the title--i hope i dont get an off brand ;) theres a correct spelling listed but the pic shows no logo and until just the other day it was listed as $5 cheaper but no shipping.

BTW...if youre in the market for a jack and are using points, now might be the time to pull that trigger. the jack is listed at 100lbs and shipping was listed at like $100ish, but free shipping is still valid on points orders through the end of this month

FWIW i went through a mock check out when i posted my deals above and they showed as getting the points back w/o paying OOP. looks like the deal ended yesterday and now new stuff is on with that deal (like the jack above) so i went through and mocked up another checkout and it looks like that is fixed, no OOP = no points back. however if you pay a few cents OOP (like the MP deals) then it still shows as receiving all of the bonus points back. i just spent $2.76 OOP and it shows i'll get $12.18 back. we'll see if they credit or not, but i kept a screenshot so figure i can argue it if needed. as always with sears, YMMV

EDIT 1: text FREECASH to 73277 for $5 off $5 in store or online, expires 1/21
kmart orders: SAVENOW for 15% off

EDIT 2: my $12.18 is showing in my account already ;) as is the $5/5 freecash

If you bought the yellow-orange tamper-torx key set, and want to complete the collection:

Craftsman 2 pc. Folding Hex Key Set $9.99

In-store pickup, or free S&H for $59+ orders.

Thanks @Doohickey! Been looking to buy something because I have points that will expire 1/22.

I was chatting to get my price match yesterday from the magnetic panel (they insisted I have to pick-up my order before I can get my points).

She was the most incompetent Sears CS I have ever dealt with.
- My price match was ~$13 per earlier chat about a week ago when we all bought that magnetic panel. I paid $20, then the price went down to $7. After "Let me check that, gimme 2 minutes", she said I have added your points.
- I checked my balance. wtf.. I only see $10 (I had $2 before the price match, so she only gave me $8.
- Told her how much I paid, how much the price went down and the difference. She said, yep that is right, could you check again. I am like I see only $8, not $13. :headscrat I again told her the price difference etc, she did agree with what I said, but still no points in my account. At this point I am wondering if she understand English
- She finally said let me check with my supervisor. wtf... I guess she can not do simple math...
- Finally after her supervisor helped her, I got my $13. But, my points expires 1/22 (so the points are only for 3 days). I should have checked while chatting with her, but I was just happy to get my points back after like 30 min on chat.

EDIT: This seems like a decent deal. Allen 14 pc. T-Handle Hex Key Set $17.96

https://www.sears.com/allen-14pc-t-...lerId=SEARS&prdNo=21&blockNo=21&blockType=G21

Unfortunately that's one of those things that doesn't work for a lot of people. Yesterday the Sears text system wasn't even responding to most people's texts (ignoring you entirely), and this afternoon it finally started responding but about half of people (including me) just get the infamous coupon-page link and the freecash never appears.

Also:

" Online Only! Extra 10% off fitness & sporting goods. Discount reflected in price shown
Expires on 01/22/2019
Online Only. Valid on items marked sold by Sears and/or Marketplace except where indicated. Excludes Clearance, Everyday Great Price, Hot Buy, Smart Buy, and Unilateral Pricing Policy (UPP) items. Also excludes Hot Tubs and Saunas. Other exclusions may apply. "

it might be one of those things that only populate if/when you open a certain email. ive made it a priority to click through the hundreds of sears spam i get each month just in case i get one of those. today i got one with the subject SPECIAL 3-DAY SALE ANNOUNCEMENT 📲 We're sending you EXTRA deals online! and at the bottom is where it had the freecash offer. i didnt think it would work since ive been on the text list forever, but it did for me. as always, YMMV, good luck.

I tried texting FREECASH but got ‘couldn’t find an account with this number ‘. But I’ve been getting other texts on this number. I guess no $5 for me.
