Sears homepage is trying to make it look like all the tools are an extra 5% off for 3 days (1/20-22), but this is NOT like the midnight madness sales where it's on everything, it's only on these 24 specific items: https://www.sears.com/tools/b-10200...agLabel=Sears 3 Day Sale&adcell=hp_3day_tools

I'm annoyed, I just bought that torque wrench last week with expiring freecash, and now they are offereing $10.47 free cash for it today..... maybe I will chat with Sears and see what they can do

I would definitely chat with Sears. If they do not agree, I would even mentioned something along the line of "Can you just cancel my order so I can re-order?". Do make sure you can get your points immediately before they cancel it.

I personally think this should fall under their price match policy because the freecash (kinda) makes the price cheaper.

I just did. They said they don't points match promotions. I also don't want to return my other order because it had expiring points that I used on it. I did talk them into a free $5 free cash, which they always have the ability to give you, don't let them tellyou they don't. I'm ok with the free $5. It's a 30 min drive to nearest Sears anyway. I got the free $5 while watching my son and the movie Frozen, so its worth it

Good to know. I haven't been offered that before.

New deal:

" Members get $10 CASHBACK in points when you spend $40+ at Sears and Sears.com from 1/20 to 2/2. Points award next day and are valid 5 days. Limit 1 time per member. Valid through February 02, 2019 11:59 PM CST "
...

Big news about that deal, don't think Sears has done one like this before... someone on SD figured out that it is on CUMULATIVE purchases within those dates, rather than requiring it to be all in one purchase!

" Sears has a new 10b40 deal, in-store and online, expires 2/2. The 10k bonus points post the next day and expire 5 days later. Once per member.
Anyway, the thing that's different about this, it seems, is that the $40 spend does not need to be all in one transaction. I bought something in-store at Sears today, mostly spending points (that of course did not roll) and then spending about $5 OOP. A little slip printed out at the register saying that I cold earn 10k bonus points if I spend another $35 by 2/2. "

Unsure if it is just my store. They appeared to finally be clearing out Gladiator entirely. Picked up 6 24" Gladiator Gearbox's the Premier ones for $60/ea. Less than half the price. I believe they use to sell for around $80-100 on sale back in the good old days. All the gearwalls etc. they had were already gone by the time I got there. Will hit another Sears later this week to see if they are doing the same thing.

Nothing that big at my nearest store. Found another stool.

Looks like the locker is the only Gladiator item left on the Sears website.

Check the clearance isle if your still has one. Prices seem to have dropped on some items in a BIG way. Guy in front of me took everything (easily 50 items) but I saw the cashier ring up stuff like $0.17 orange Craftsman box cutters ($4.99 original) and similarly priced sanding belts and General Tool brand items. This is at a non closing store but one that does have deal prices unlike my local store.

Also bizarrely, the online clearance items were coming up full price in store (Metric Nutdrivers, etc).

Anyhow it's probably time again to fill a cart with items that have low quantities and hang out at the price checker for 15-20mins to see if any deals are out there.

I was wondering why many of the clearance items had disappeared, and the store staff explained about an extra 50% off clearance prices. I suppose this remaining Sears store has too much customer traffic to allow such great deals to sit around for long.

I miss the old Kmart stores, because clearance items remained around long enough to get down to 90% off. Like the Craftsman 12-piece nutdriver sets (USA) for $4.00 each.

In case anyone was wondering, these brake tools are in fact Made in Taiwan.

Here's an online clearance deal that turned into a pain the ***. Attempt at your own annoyance. Clearance prices (including the magnetic panel) were not available in-store at my full-line Sears store.

Could not add items to my cart on desktop site, so I had to use mobile site. Could not complete order on mobile site, so I had to get customer service to place the order.

In-store pickup or ship-to-store. Both are probably made in Taiwan:

Craftsman Brake Spring Pliers $5.47 (reg. $18.99)
spin_prod_1133946412

Craftsman Adjusting Brake Tool $1.47 (reg. $7.99)

This post got me to thinking that I haven't looked at what is available at my closest Sears outlet stores in Arlington Texas; and in Fort Worth, so I looked online and didn't see any bargains that I couldn't live without...but...I did see that they have three snowblowers available between the two stores. If they were in Amarillo then perhaps I'd understand, but in DFW? No surprise they are g̶o̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶b̶u̶s̶i̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ hurting.

At least they don't have any in stock in my TX store, at least this year. I know in previous years I got a lot of Sears marketing emails pushing snowblowers, though I never checked if they actually had any wasting space locally.

FYI, bizarrely, the Sears Outlet stores are not part of the main Sears corporation, they are part of the franchise company that split off years ago. Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores. Main Sears sells their unwanted/damaged dregs to SHOS for cheap, and then SHOS gets stuck trying to resell it to a customer. Those should have been shipped off to a more northerly Outlet location regardless, though.

Was in a different area for work, so decided to hit up a low traffic Sears after.

Sampling of the stuff on sale that I checked. Clearance deals are pretty good right now. Checker was really far from tools so I only did a few things. Had some coupons to use and all of them worked on the clearance stuff as well.

The big score of the day was the 30" Gladiator cabinets. They were 85% off, plus $5 off coupon, then $10 back in points. Don't need them but the build quality is really good so couldn't pass up. The keys were gone but since I got them brand new at Sears not a outlet, I'm going to give them a call and see if I can get some replacements.

Also they had a single 26"×16" middle chest among the clearance stuff. I've been really looking for this chest since the 16" deep middles are totally discontinued and I want to add drawers to an old setup. Really exciting find. It was "only" 60% off but I would have probably bought it at full list. One ding on the top (will be hidden when in use) but came in the original carton with keys and books.

They also had a ton of 26"x12" middles for $29. Last pic. Probably a decent price but I don't do 12" deep chests. Also I was in a midsized sedan with 2 people and that thing was STUFFED at the end. It was quite the scene loading everything in. .... a low traffic Sears.....

That would seem to imply that you think there are some other kinds of Sears stores? :headscrat:):)

Anyway it looks like you got some good deals. I have to admit that since I grew up with Sears as a kid, sometimes it feels like I'm picking on a writhing carcass whenever I get a deal there....as I drive home I have to keep telling myself that it's not the same animal and hasn't been for years. :(

Nice! Best I was able to find was some 7-piece impact socket sets (torx, hex metric, hex SAE) for $7.50 each. Made in Taiwan.

Found the torx set on Lowes.com, but it appears the sets are already removed from the Sears website.

Model numbers: 50839, 50840, 50841

I think the customer traffic depends a lot on what type of competition is nearby.

We had an old Kmart store that survived a long time, but shut down soon after a Walmart store opened up nearby.

:bowdown::bowdown:

There was one gladiator box in my hometown Sears that has been there forever. Last I checked (Thanksgiving-Christmas) it was like 20%, nothing like what you got there. I should stop by and check it out again.

They're all slower than Sears wants/needs, but some are slower than others. The traffic really picks up when a location goes into liquidation, though! (All the customers who had been oblivious to Sears regular sale pricing for years, mistakenly thinking they're getting a deal when the liquidation signs go up.)

I had been hoping for a 'midnight madness' sale tonight, looks like no such luck.

Edit: Nope, here it is! Just not announced ahead of time like it has been before.

Midnight Madness. Extra 5% off tools thru 1/25 7am CT. In price shown

Just got a couple bucks back on price-adjusting this, bought a couple weeks ago at a higher price:

Craftsman 3 pc. Cold Chisel Set
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-pc-cold-chisel-set/p-00943112000P
$25.99 regularly, $18.99 sale

PS: Chat rep tonight claimed that they cannot do manual adjustments anymore to make up for freecash redemption that doesn't come back in price-adjustment refunds. "now they have removed the access to us, now we can't do the manual adjustment in the rewards account."

I did a price adjustment on the 11th on quite a few items, with no points refunded as of yet. I went on chat yesterday and was told I needed to wait until the 28th, 10 business days. I think they are just hoping people forget or don't want to go through the hassle.

All of my Gladiator cabinets use the same key, so if you can't get one PM me and I'll send you some since I have more than I'll ever need. Not to mention I'll likely rekey them at some point as a small security measure.

That *****. At least the points I did get back showed up immediately, despite the chat rep still giving the 10-day boilerplate spiel.

Was looking at an item online this morning before the midnight madness, or whatever they called it this time, sale ended at 7:00 am Central. Item was not available for shipping but was available for ship to store. Nearest store for pickup for me is now about an hour and a half round trip drive. After 7:00 am it was available for shipping.

Sears still gonna Sears!

Ugh, that's a new trick! :wtf: Great way to lose business even after the sale, if the person thinks that item is gone for good and stops checking back on it.

PS: Speaking of things that are gone for good, I noticed last night that the URL for the magnetic organizer panels page now just redirects to a keyword search results page. At least keep the page up with the unavailable status!

I do expect that the website "quality" in general to go downhill fast. I am sure they let go people who maintain the website, or outsourced them to where they can get cheap labor to save cash.

It seems that we been seeing more problems and I do expect things to get worse.

I agree. I also think chat will increase in wait times and decline in quality of service. As it is I can't believe how responsive and helpful chat is - it's very un-Sears-like

Chat is run by an outsourced company, 247.ai, with reps in India and the Philippines. They are at the mercy of Sears for what they are given access to do for us, and presumably Sears could also cut the amount of staff assigned to the Sears chat (vs the other companies 247's thousands of employees handle) by reducing the amount they want to pay the next time their contract comes up for renewal.

Sears wasn't supposed to stop counting points usage towards free shipping minimums until Feb 1, but there were some complaints on SD yesterday (Jan 25) that it seemed to have already kicked in a week early. The minimum is so high these days that I haven't tried for it in a while myself even with points.

The probably start it now because they need to let go the guys who can program it before Feb 1 :lol_hitti

It is sad how it becomes. If I need anything, I would rather buy at other places to avoid potential problems (warranty, shipping issues, return, etc) , unless the price at Sears is a lot cheaper. I can tolerate these when I was getting points, but now with paying OOP, kinda hard to beat deals at Amazon or local stores like Home Depot, Lowes. I still keep an eye out incase they have crazy sales, but probably unlikely at this point.

Well it's not even working when you are above the minimum after points. Works fine if the points are removed.
