Not many deals out there nowadays. If you bought the metric nut driver set a couple weeks ago, the standard set is now $19.99, $10 off.

Eddie buying the company has now been approved, so business-as-usual should continue, and there's a possibility of some suppliers returning.

My order on Sunday included a ship-to-store item which arrived yesterday, a week ahead of schedule! When I picked it up today, I noticed that my Sears now actually has a large banner outside proclaiming that this location is "staying open".

If their second chance was Lampert's takeover of the two struggling retailers back in 2003-4, then would this be their third chance? :headscrat

Probably correct. Just feels like more with all the money infusions & rounds of store closings. I know they never were like this, just felt like they were always this close all the time. Maybe last year when the lost all those suppliers, and for some back was chance #2?

I tried to get chat price protection on a recent purchase... denied my $0.50 due to coupon usage on the original purchase. They've never done that online before IIRC, only in-store.

a Sears chat agent said the same thing to me a couple months back. I pointed them to their own Price Protection Policy and they backtracked after a "Let me check this for you" and a "Please give me 2-3 minutes here". Nowhere in the policy does it state anything about coupons. The price protection equation is simply:

"You will be given a refund for the difference of the original selling price and the current advertised/reduced price."

Good point! I argued a bit but didn't try that. I'll try to remember to when it's a little more money at stake than this time.

For the big spenders, spend $500+ OOP on a single item (looks like some big tool sets, some toolchests, some lawnmowers/tractors, some exercise machines, some appliances, some mattresses), get $10/week back for the next 50 weeks. (So you should probably only do this if you still have a local store available!)

Looks like $500+ items that qualify for the $100 back in 10 installments deal, which is still running for the next couple weeks, do qualify for the $500-back deal in spite of how it looks at first - the 'headline' deal on them will be the $100-back deal, but looking at the details of how many points you'd get back on them shows that the $100-back deal is actually not being applied and you'd receive the $500-back instead while this new deal is in effect. (example)

" Offer valid 2/7/19–2/9/19. Members get $500 CASHBACK in points when you spend $500 or more at sears.com on items on items Sold by Sears. First $10 CASHBACK in points issued next day after transaction and are valid for 7 days. Subsequent payments of $10 in points are issued every Sunday starting 2/17/19. Points expire 7 days from date of issuance. Offer cannot be combined with other offers. Limit one per member. Maximum $500 CASHBACK in points per member.

Excludes Lands' End, select mattresses (Chiswick, Chelsfield, Camberwell, Cavell, East Channel, Harlington, Harrowby, Isleworth, Kenney, Romford, Beautyrest Black, Sealy Conform Performance [High Spirits, Fondness and Thrilled], Sealy Conform Premium [Gratifying and Wondrous], Stearns & Foster, Serta iComfort, Serta iComfort Memory Foam, Serta iComfort Hybrid, Sealy Hybrid, Simmons Beautysleep, Tempur-Pedic and Tempur-Flex), Protect-A-Bed, SleepTracker, Mantua bed frames, adjustable bases (Beautyrest Smart Motions, Sealy Ease, Serta Motion [Essential, Custom and Perfect], and Tempur-Pedic [Tempur-Up, Tempur-Ergo Plus and Tempur-Premier]), Serta iComfort pillows, Tempur-Pedic Tempur pillows, Stearns & Foster Premium pillows, Sealy Premium pillows, Serta Premium pillows, Beautyrest Premium pillows.

Purchase requirement before taxes and after other discounts and must be made in a single transaction. By accepting Shop Your Way member benefits and offers, you agree to the Shop Your Way terms and conditions, available at www.shopyourway.com/terms. Members earn points on qualifying purchases, excluding sales taxes and other fees. Extra points are inclusive of, and not in addition to, any base points earned on qualifying purchases. When extra point offers are combined, total points earned will be less than the combined point totals for each individual offer. "

How many days does it take for the points from a purchase to show up? I spent over $100 the other day, but it has not shown up. As Doohickey pointed out, Midnight Madness is going on, but I am not showing the points. I was hoping to use the $10 off, but I am not sure if that would apply. They had a "spend $100, get $10 back every week for the following ten weeks". SOMETHING like that.

Thanks for the info in this thread!

The $500 back promo is really their new trick to get you to realize that to spend it online you have to pay $59 out of pocket... every week... for 50 weeks.... to be able to spend it online. I miss having a sears nearby.

Why do you think you have to pay $59 out of pocket? You can just pay the $4.50 shipping charge...

50 weeks... is Sears going to be around for the next 50 weeks, that is the big question when one is jumping into this deal. And of course $10/week is Sears betting that most people will forget to use up their points every week.

Not a bad deal if Sears is going to be around for 50 weeks AND you can remember using your points every week.

I had some points to use so I purchased the Craftsman Duck canvas jacket and ended up paying $30.** for it. Overall it's nice for that amount of money, but if purchased at full price ($69.99) I would have returned it as I think the zipper is two sizes too small for that type of garment. In the past on a jacket like this I would wear out or damage the knit sleeve cuffs first, however I expect I'll damage the zipper first on this one. Since I do live in Texas it won't get that much usage so maybe 3-4 years?..not bad for what I paid for it.

Did you price check it in store? They were ringing up $14.99 last weekend. And I had to try on several to get one with a good "fit"

I did before I ordered it, they were marked as on sale $39.99, but no I didn't do scan it price check with a cashier. I'll go back and look, at 14.99 I might get another in a different color as a spare. :) ..at that price a zipper replacement is not cost prohibitive...maybe.

You need to have spent $100 OOP (out of pocket, meaning real money, not points), before tax and before any shipping fees. The item needs to have already shipped if it's a shipping order, or needs to have already been picked up if it was in-stock locally.

Now that Eddie's acquisition has been approved, I'd say yes. (I don't think it's coincidental that they launched this offer right after that news was announced.) He's starting over with a greatly reduced amount of debt to service, and wouldn't have bothered avoiding immediate liquidation if he was just going to let it die again that fast.

I hope that SYW will be back to how it worked in 2018, and those vendors who supplied nice tools will be back (Knipex, Wera). I have some Knipex I like to have

I think I later read that the spend $100 was just online.

I did spend over $40 ($10 in points), but it was at a Hometown store since the local big Sears closed about a month ago. I don't know for sure if it will work that way. I still don't have the points showing. I will try to chat with them tomorrow.

Hometown stores never participate in these kinds of deals, AFAIK.

You still earn points from buying from Hometown, but they don't participate in any special offers or surprise points. They really don't advertise the SYW the program
No this was a $20 back on $40 or something similar. Was definitely a Sears promotion and hometown was not mentioned. Even used hometown website to order. The items were in stock in store for pickup.

Thank you for the information, guys. I bought "in store" at the Hometown store. I may try to chat with Sears to see if I can at least get the regular points.

By the way, they have a 10% off Sears credit card usage on tools until 2/24. Check it out.

Some tools are on a big discount, too.

The manager told me yesterday that USA vendors have already been secured, and now that Sears is "safe" for the moment, tools will return to being made in the USA. I will look forward to my Chinese versions breaking, so I can replace them. I'm going to take a break from SYW I think, at least as far as purchasing tools, and look forward to buying USA Craftsman again.

I found some kayaks and paddleboards at my local Sears store, marked down about 50%. They were full price on the website and did not show as in stock at my store, so if you have a store close by, it's always worth taking a walk around! Oh, there were also some vertical air compressors, I think they were 30 gallon, marked down to $100 bucks!

Sorry, but that manager was blowing smoke up your ***. They're about as clueless as anybody when it comes to future products. They're lucky to know what SHC was doing yesterday.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the Stanley-sourced tools sold at Sears, and some of those are "Made in USA with global components", but nothing with the lifetime warranty has come back to the USA. Maybe it will, but I wouldn't be holding my breath!

Not exactly sure if they ever disappeared, but I know I just picked up the 3pc set of pry bars made by Wilde. I was shocked to see them and the manager at the counter mentioned they just came back in. He also mentioned some of the tools switching back to made in USA, so who knows :headscrat

Those pry bar could be a new old stock they found somewhere, not necessarily pry bar that are newly made by Wilde.

I do hope we see some tools made in USA, but I believe it when I see it.

The 3pc pry bars with strike caps have only ever been made in the USA by Wilde (the ones without the strike caps are the India ones). The strike cap set got fully restocked in my full-size Sears a couple months ago.

I shop at Sears, so I visit the Sears "hot deals" thread. I don't shop at Harbor Freight, so I don't waste my time, or anyone else's, reading or posting on the Harbor Freight thread. I will never understand how people have so much free time...

Yeah, I worked there for a few years and know people who still work there.

In all of my local stores (the few that remain), manager turnover is about as frequent now as floor staff. Nobody had any idea what was going on before, and I'm sure it's much worse now.

I don't know where Super Sport works, but there are a few of us here who still love and follow Craftsman very closely as well as Sears. We know what's going on with Sears and SBD more than most employees including managers. Craftsman sold at Sears will more than likely continue to be made in China.

Having said all that, the store manager may have been blowing smoke up your *** by mistake. They may have heard that Craftsman is gonna start making Made in USA tools again, which is correct. SBD is making Made in USA Craftsman tools, but they at this point won't be sold at Sears as they source their Craftsman tools on their own for the next 14 years per their agreement with SBD. There are a few (very few) items still Made in USA at Sears but there are no plans to bring back Made in USA tools to Sears at this point
