Those 6[in] squares are clearly the same.

Yes, as I said, the old product page was for a 7in version originally, and was incompletely repurposed several years ago for the 6in version, so they finally moved it to a new product page. I provided the old link for reference because it has more reviews. These have been made for Craftsman by Johnson for a long time.

There's a lot of individual screwdrivers marked down to the $1-3 range. This includes the ratcheting ones that came out last year around the holidays.

Hey, remember the Permanex Craftsman toolboxes (sturdy black plastic "utility cases" and "truck boxes") that disappeared a few months ago? They're back! :D

sorry, i forgot they were gone for awhile. i just picked up 2 of the 22"s last month--i plan to toss some foam in there and use it to hold some torque wrenches. still looks like theres a limited supply of where they can ship to store though, i had to pay shipping

also, i got a text today about there being 10% off tools this weekend or something. looks like prices are already reflecting it

Select tools. Just glanced at some prices and some are discounted and others are at their everyday higher price since the end of winter

Two-day flash sale.

Flash Sale! Extra 10% off select tools, outdoor living, and lawn & garden. Expires on 06/08/2019

Online Only. Valid on select items sold by Sears. Excludes Clearance, Everyday Great Price, Hot Buy, Smart Buy, and Unilateral Pricing Policy (UPP) items.

I don't see any new Craftsman items for Father's Day, but I may get the Craftsman Sidewinder 25' Tape Measure for $9.71.

Or maybe the India-made Craftsman 3pc.Pry Bar Set at $12.14, just for shits & giggles.

Would they let you pay with points? That was the problem for me. They would price match it (by selling me the CPO item) but would not let me pay with points.

As Hexen said, this is a fluke circumstance, that they had an associated seller that had it for the same price as the price match. Without the third party seller, it wouldn't have been a problem.

I think the real fluke is that you got two customer support morons in a row.

:+1:

I feel that we (customer) actually know more than the CS agent. I am sure it does not help that they probably have a high turnover rate. Who would want to be on a sinking ship.

I know someone who used to work at Kmart HQ several years ago, he was happy to move on from them.

Here's what I ended up ordering Thursday night:

Craftsman 6in Pocket Combination Square
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-6-in-pocket-combination-square/p-A033000730
$5.00 'Hot Buy' sale, $9.29 regularly

This is a new product page, the old one was at https://www.sears.com/craftsman-7-in-pocket-combination-square/p-00939273000P (this same page had been used for both a 6in version and a 7in version)

Harbor Freight does have something very similar, for about the same price after coupon. HF's has an inch scale on one edge and millimeters on the other, while Sears's has 16ths inches on one edge and 32nds inches on the other. HF's has the markings colored in black for better readability, but Sears's doesn't.
(I went with HF for a 12in-long one with additional features, but now I'm almost out of HF gift card money, so I went with Sears so I could use points for the shorter one despite preferring higher-contrast markings. I'm ambivalent about not having metric; I use it occasionally but not that much, and the 32nds might be nice to have sometimes.)

Picked up my Craftsman 6in combination square today, and turns out it has the 16ths & 32nds on one side, and 8ths and mm on the other side, so it's more versatile than the description said. :)

Hey yeah that's cool! I picked up a couple of those back during the $4.50 sale but I totally missed seeing the mm markings, I had to go look and check mine after reading your post.

I ordered the 6” combo square Saturday night and just checked my 16” combo square and it’s marked the same - 8th,16ths,32nds and mm. They must be marketing it outside the USA market.

Hot buy $9.99 from $25.98. Seems decent price if one need a 1/2" ratchet. From the picture it seems that this is the newer polished model instead of the RP model with less teeth, but in the description it says "Added on October 21, 2010". I never seen this before at the local Hometown store.

 Perfect timing -- I had $10 in points expiring soon and have needed a new 1/2 ratchet -- $4.49 after shipping works for me (no stores left )

I really like those ratchets, even at only 45 teeth they work well.

Looks like they are the same Price as before.

The text I received was “ select categories “

Yes. I just checked both items.

Watch out for the annoying item tags that block further discounts.

"Midnight Madness! Extra 5% off tools thru 6/12 7am CT. Reflected in price shown

Online Only. Valid on items marked sold by Sears and/or Marketplace except where indicated. Excludes DeWalt, Clearance, Great Price, Hot Buy, Smart Buy, and Unilateral Pricing Policy items. No in-store price matching allowed."

Yep, that's why.

But for any recent purchases (30 days) from the Sears website that *did* drop in price, remember that you can always request a price adjustment if you can manage to get on chat before the sale ends. :)

Not that I have anything to price adjust, but kinda feeling guilty now trying to do price adjustment since I have used PS twice for free shipping. Feel like I am taking advantage too much.

Free tools, and now free shipping too? And you want to price adjustment? :lol_hitti

Thank you @ARFLY for the quick review. I am getting one.

Also worth noting that some PS orders end up not attached to your personal account (the ones where you have to pay OOP amounts through Shopbolt, I think), so you probably can't price adjust on those, unless the PS is willing and able to do it for you instead of you going through the chat people.

Good news, looks like ANOTHER sale will be coming up for a very-extended weekend starting tomorrow. The prematurely-posted-on-sears.com offer details don't state the percent off, but SD is thinking it will be 10%.

" Member Appreciation Event savings valid in store and online Thursday, June 13, 2019 through Tuesday, June 18, 2019 and at Sears, Sears Grand, Sears Essentials and Sears Parts & Repair Centers where permitted by law. Offers apply to regular and sale prices.
Excludes consumer electronics, toys, Best Member Deals, WOW items, introductory offers, Insane Deals, Deal Flash, Everyday Great Price items, clearance and closeout items except where indicated in store or online, Ebuys, Lands’ End®, Levi’s®, JanSport®, DeWalt, Special Value Watches, work shoes and work boots, Tempur-Pedic, floor care accessories, countertop microwave ovens, sewing machines, heaters, water heaters, water softeners, water filtration, air conditioners, air cleaners, fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, appliance special orders, appliance accessories, As Seen On TV products, DieHard 360 vehicle assessment, DieHard Edge maintenance plans, generators, Laufenn tires, certain Sears licensed partners and websites, specialty tools, Ray-Ban, Oakley, contact lenses, digital services, catalog orders, gift cards, money orders, wire transfers, commercial orders or previous purchases. In the event of a return, savings will be deducted from refund. "

Update 6/13: The sale has begun, and it is 10% off. The long terms from the homepage forgot to exclude Hot Buys, but they are in fact excluded as usual.

Additional much-shorter fine print from a tool product page:

" Expires on 06/18/2019

$13.99 is a good price for those. I don't think that is from SBD, has different part numbers from what Stanley uses. You are right, total gimmick tools. The June 10, 2019 add date is not right. I bought mine at the Joplin, MO store back in April.

Yeah, I caught that 20in 3/8in one on a rare half-price sale a couple weeks ago. It and the 20in 1/2in extension are almost never on sale, even excluded from the storewide 5%/10% sales thanks to "Great Price" status. The 14in 1/4in one is already unavailable online but can still be found in-person at some stores, as I posted about last week. I'm hoping to get the 1/2in one soon even at full price, since the phasing-out of the longest 1/4in has me nervous that the other extra-long extension sizes might be joining it in the not-too-distant future.

Craftsman 20 in. 3/8 in. Drive Extension Bar. $13.48 from $14.98.

Craftsman 18 pc. Inch & Metric Deep Socket Set. $13.49 from $41.99

Just in time for this year's Father's Day, Sears has a new gimmick tool. Appears to be courtesy of Stanley.

Craftsman Triangle Hex Key Set $13.49

prod_20906640312

That set was available in my closest Full service Sears around Xmas time. Somewhere in the vicinity of $10?

Yes, the triangle folding hex set has been on the shelf at my store for a number of months already, but was never on the Sears website until now. I thought about posting about it when I first stumbled across it in-store several months ago, but with no link available and not that exciting of a tool (though we are getting pretty starved for anything new from Sears), I didn't get around to it.

I found when I researched it that it is a rebrand of products Stanley had released in the UK only (sold separately rather than in a 3-pack):
metric hex: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046Q86EQ/?tag=atomicindustr-21 (this one has a few reviews, with mixed opinions)
SAE hex: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004741FQI/?tag=atomicindustr-21
Torx: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CJ6RXI0/?tag=atomicindustr-21

I wonder what else I missed during the holidays.

I remember the mini-ratchet sets, but those sold out pretty fast. BTW, the price has dropped further on the version that I recently posted about:
Craftsman 16pc. 1/4-inch Drive Mini Socket Set $17.99

Then there was the "Ultimate Collection", and I've been hoping they would sell the 90T ratchets as open stock. After the lawsuit from SBD, what's left of those sets has been shoved into a back corner. :rolleyes2

Sears usually relies on their own numbering system for their Craftsman items. Same with their Kenmore and DieHard items.

FYI: The display models for the Craftsman push/self-propelled mowers are being sold off, and the staff is just filling in the empty space with something unrelated.

Not a good sign for getting new suppliers.

I don’t think I ever saw the mini ratchet set in my store. My gut feeling is Sears purchases so much inventory and selectively distributes it. Their credit with some suppliers is fairly shaky at best. It’s like spreading the last of the peanut butter from the jar to two slices of bread. You can barely see the PB on top of the bread. Both my local Sears and Kmart have multiple shelves only fronted with merchandise.

On line inventory is not even close to What’s on the shelf when I try to order $15 of worthwhile stuff if I need a filler.

What’s replacing the mower displays? More mattresses or $1.00 store junk?

It's been like that at Kmart since well before the bankruptcy, according to gripes on SD over the last couple years. They're infamous for filling shelves all around the store with individual plastic storage totes, and in sections where the shelves are too small for that (e.g. health/beauty), spreading out individual products with a couple feet of completely empty shelf between them.

FWIW, someone on SD reports: "If you still have a Kmart in your area and need some potting soil, fertilizer, weed killer, bug sprays, hoses, sprinklers etc you may want to check your store. My store marked all that down - some 50% off."
