Half of the sears the roofs are leaking. who are they trying to fool that they are cleaning them. And they hadn't had a high traffic area since then too.

Whenever I see water-stained ceiling tiles in a mall Sears store, they blame the A/C ducts.

They still have Max Axxess in the wild? Aside from a few open stock pieces I haven’t seen a thing in ages. I was trying to get the big universal set for a while when I had all those points from 100 on 100 and eventually gave up. One hometown supposedly still has it but it’s pretty far away, wonder if they’ll clear it out. Then again I’ve never used the big non universal set I bought in 2014 when they cleared them out for $40.

---------

Weren't they $30? Since it was such a short period, I think it was supposed to be on sale for $130 but there was a screw-up. If I remember correctly, only Craftsman Club membership would activate the $29.99 price.

Still haven't used mine either (other than playing with the set when I first got it), because I got too many regular socket sets.

I bought a small max axxess kit many years ago. Think I've used it once on some all thread bolts when I was building a pole barn, worked pretty good.

Maybe it was $30, I just remember that it seemed like such a great deal and then I never really used it. My uncle saw it in my breezeway right after I bought it and he was like “gee that’s nice, wish I had one” then I told him it was on sale, don’t know if he went and got one or not. Had I known I wouldn’t use it I’d have probably just let him have it. Even funnier I got the ratcheting tap handle figuring I’d dual purpose it and use it for the Maxx Axxess, but nope still haven’t used it with the Max Axxess only as a tap handle.

Well I can’t say I “never” used it I may have used it once or twice on a battery hold down when I had it lying in my breezeway because it was right there but I’m not 100% sure.

The thing is it doesn’t really possess any advantage other than the pass through. They could have made lower profile sockets with the design that might have been more useful. There’s only a handful of times it may have been the most advantageous to use that I can think of, most of my deep sockets are deep enough and then usually I’d just use a ratcheting wrench if it wasn’t.

Gonna kick myself but I ordered a craftsman square and some clearance pajama pants. Assuming no coronavirus lockdown I’ll get this whenever Kmart ships the pants to Sears this typically doesn’t take too awfully long since I’m not all that far from the PA Kmart Distribution Center unless they’re go with a ghost staff (if they weren’t already).

I just know I’m gonna find mine the second after ordering this too. But at least this one says Craftsman to match all my other stuff.

I checked my points and I’ve got 5 more weeks of this $100. I’m gonna have to comb the site better next week.

With the $60 for free shipping I think Ill let most of my points go.

I ordered some S&R tshirts at $6 a pop (they make good undershirts) and a craftsman hoodie that looked nice for $37. Other than that, Im not interested in anything except that tap+die set that was $60 for a day... Really screwed up by not ordering that!

I’ve bought some of the ship only deals in the past, the shipping is typically only $4.50 so if you $10 or so in points you can get $10 stuff for around half off. If it’s craftsman you charge it on the sears card and get 10% off. The trick is finding stuff.

If anyone is interested these are the shirts Im ordering. I really like the craftsman teflon shirts. I've probably got 5 of the short sleeve and long sleeve shirts of different colors now. The hoodie dropped in price from when I ordered it ($37 to $24) so I chatted and they just refunded me some $$.

I've not worn these but they seem nice. Not insulated or anything, just good cool weather bibs. They had the dark brown when I ordered mine... I wouldnt like the rubber color.

Local mall shutdown for a while so local Sears is shut down.

Did you call the store and ask about it?

Just because the mall shuts down, it doesn't mean a store with it's own entrances will also shut down. At least not until corporate gives them permission to.

I caved and ordered the collectors sets, haven’t spent much not going anywhere and if Corona is the last nail in the Sears coffin it’s a little something to remember the good old days with. I was able to use points, freecash and the credit card offer.

Kmart has $5 freecash on fridays off $25 through April 24th or something with the coupon code FRIDAY5, so you could probably do the usual for the Kmart to Sears for pickup if you still have one.

I had a few freecash offers I never got alerts for, most of the good ones for Kmart. The Sears ones were mostly useless except the $25 on $100.

The limited edition sockets and wrenches came, they’re kinda nice for presentation, no practical use unless you have no other wrenches or sockets but a a nice display piece if you have everything craftsman already. Oddly they shipped from a Kmart DC so they must have had a few shipped to the Kmart side that they just stumbled upon.

People must have jumped on that quick.

It has been Temporarily unavailable each time I have looked.

Yeah it didn’t last long. It may come back but price might not be the same a lot of the other impact sets that went out and came back were at higher prices.

Oh, they shutdown the stores today.

I had some points expire in March, but don't see them reinstated (yet).

Dear Valued Member:

We hope that you and your loved ones remain healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our thoughts are with all during these difficult times.

Given this challenging and unprecedented time in our nation’s and our company’s history, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Sears stores effective April 4 through at least April 30, 2020.

Sears.com, Kmart.com, ShopYourWay.com, distribution centers and customer care will remain open, fulfilling online orders and answering customer inquiries. Sears Home Services will continue to repair essential appliances. Except where required to close by law or government order, Kmart stores and Kmart Pharmacy locations will remain open to provide essential products and services.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our associates, members and the communities we serve. We remain committed to helping slow the spread of the virus, while also meeting your needs. We believe that taking these temporary steps now will position Sears to continue to serve you when the COVID-19 crisis passes.

We will continue to follow guidance from local, state, and federal officials as we anticipate gradually reopening Sears stores and corporate offices when it is safe to do so.

If you have Shop Your Way points that expired in March, we have reinstated them and extended the expiration through the end of April, while extending points earned on your Shop Your Way Mastercard through June.

We are all in this together and we thank you for your continued support.

- Sears and Kmart Family

I spot checked some items and they either showed up as available to pickup in a hometown store 50 miles away or Kmart. Lucky for me they closed the closest Kmart in January and the next two are 20+ miles away.

HD and Lowes are still open 2-5 miles away.

EEK.

Will they reopen ?

One wonders.

Most likely, they didn’t close Kmart. I think this is more about the “Essential retail” than anything. Some states were really after GameStop for not really being essential. Many Sears are in hard hit areas. The only thing most of the states qualify as essential that they sell are tools and appliances. Tools and appliances are a tiny fraction of the store. To me it sounds like some legal pitfall they don’t want to deal with. Kmart has pharmacy items, cleaning supplies, food, pet food, hardware, appliances, in other words more justification to actually be open.

In some areas I think they’re keeping a ghost staff of management to handle shipping online orders that are sourced from the store.

I got lucky and was able to pick up what are likely my last two orders from Sears yesterday. The front doors were locked with a big "Closed" sign... but Merchandise Pickup was open.

I also picked up something at a Kmart... store seemed to be operating as usual.

It was nice of them to keep the Tools and Appliances departments open, but it doesn't help Sears when everyone thinks the ENTIRE mall is shutdown. :lol_hitti

I thought they're trying to help offset shipping fees by dropping prices, but I don't see shipping options for them.

Craftsman 10-in and 12-in Tool Bag Set $3.94

Craftsman Extreme Grip™ 5 pc. Socket Set $9.94

Craftsman Extreme Grip 2pc. Adjustable Wrench Set $11.94

Have they closed merchandise pickup or is it still open? Given many Sears.com orders are for the filled out of the store via UPS I’d assume they’d still have a manager reporting to do that. Their announcement says Sears.com is still up and running, so I’m not sure how they’d otherwise ship merchandise unless they just shut off every item that has only store and no distribution center stock.

I think that’s all just leftover blowout stuff. None available here for pickup or ship even before the announcement they were temporarily closing.

A chat agent said my ship-to-store order estimated to arrive in April will be returned and canceled. :(

Considering that they chose to lower the prices instead of deleting the items, I figured there must be some low-traffic stores out there that failed to get rid of these. Or maybe the Hometown stores? :dunno:

I’ve yet to run across one of these that’s been for sale anywhere, hometown or otherwise. They’re either limited with a handful still around or simply gone. Another possibility is they bumped the price down to prevent no receipt returns, Walmart and Target do that, wouldn’t surprise me if sears did too.

If Sears' website is to be believed, the Hometown store in Ronceverte, WV seems to have several of the heavily-discounted items in-stock.

While that's exactly what retailers do for preventing returns, but on numerous occasions, Sears stopped doing no receipt returns years ago. Only warranty items were done that way. But if there was a way around it, I'm sure someone was doing so

I saw enough people pull it off before without a receipt that it could be a reason.

Haven’t spotted any real good deals at least on stuff in stock to ship side the store is closed but I did finally get to work on some stuff and try those ultimate assortment/collection tools. They’re actually not too bad. The 90 tooth ratchet is nice. The wrenches seem to fit well. Probably better than a lot of their recent stuff. Great Star is definitely a better source for stuff.

I would recommend that ultimate collection SAE set if you do yard equipment, even last years MTD stuff is still seemingly all SAE.

Just don’t pay current prices though, wait for the stuff to drop down. Seems like when they temporarily closed the stores they jacked all the prices back up. Maybe they’re of the mindset of if people really want it they’ll pay for it.

Assuming weather holds up I’ll be trying their newer production impact stuff in a few days.

I did order some new production saw blades to test with my circular saw. Not sure who the present manufacturer is, I saw them right before all the lockdowns started but never looked at them closely.
