Here is my take on lifetime warranties DEFECTS IN MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP ......... a wrench/socket/etc with some rust spots still works. Clean it up, throw a little oil on it and use it......no defect. A wrench/socket/etc with enough rust so it DOESN'T work.....abused/neglected tool.....no defect.

A worn out tool just by it's nature PROVES there is no defect. If you used it until it wore out over an extended period of time, you have made your money back 10 times over.......toss it, buy a new one and get back to work.

Cosmetic is not covered unless it's a factory defect (such as chrome chipping/peeling prematurely).search for the hard handle screwdriver bubbling thread to get a good example of this. And im not sure if wear is technically covered or not, but every driver i have seen will cover it as long as there is no obvious signs of abuse.

Clean your tools man. I suggest mineral spirits and then treating with Marvel.

I had the exact same problem with S-K. nobody would warranty anything, basicly had to put a socket in a press and destroy it before you could get a new one. I put all my S-K on Ebay about 5 years ago and never looked back. I don't even buy used S-K at flea markets and yard sales any more as the warranty is so bad...

Snap-On is hit or miss. when we had a Snap-on warehouse locally, you could bring a tool in to the customer service counter and they would swap out a ratchet for a new one. no rebuild kits, just a new tool. That was the '80's. now, only way to warranty a snap-on is to give to a buddy who works at a shop who can trade in to the route driver if he has a good relationship with him. They rebuild ratchets, forget about rust or flaking chrome. Screwdrivers: they pry your handle off and put a new shank on. Could you imagine if Sears did that?

So much of your 'story' just simply does not 'add up'. :willy_nil

If I was a truck seller you wouldn't be allowed on or near my truck.

You stated you wanted wine and cheese.... They'll maybe give you some sour grapes and some Kool-Aid.

I know right.. They would probably still be blip on the radar of quality tool discussions if they didn't try to appease very Tom **** and harry who found a 5 gallon bucket of rusted tools at there local flea market. It's not financially feasible for a Company to warrant tools because they are dirty, especially once the market gets flooded etc. The only way to guarantee that a tool company can be profitable and keep quality standards up is to define what the "lifetime" of a tool is, Or charge 5-10's the going rate for the price of the tool to offset the people who have unreasonable expectations of how long a tools usable life is Or.. Take a hard stance every once in awhile on the customer who received 20+ years of service on a tool.

Naah - I won't be loosing any money at all, I bought them at pawn shops, flea markets and ebay originally, and they have appreciated over the last 15-20 years.

So who's the retard, retard? :lol_hitti

What a troll.

If you bought them used then you don't even have a warranty, period! Some people just have to cry about everything. Then start calling names. How come this guy isn't banned yet? Just made it to my ignore list. Too much junior high school girl drama for me.

Im guessing there is no socket or wrench, too much crying and not enough details, no way a grown *** man (46 years wrenching) would cry that much. Feels like a "Hook line and Sinker" thread to me.

Baloney, it happens every day here. You should take a look at SO facebook, there is a world full of professional crybabies.

The guy that admits he buys all his tools at pawn shops, flea markets and e-bay that expects to walk on a truck he has never bought a thing from and get warranty service.

Well 1st off I don't do facebook, secondly I put very little thought into someone's blind rant in regards to whatever the "Hot" brand of the day is. There is no doubt in my mind, with as big as the interwebs, social media that these companies aren't spending time "bashing the competition" or "praising themselves" all to get just a little more piece of the pie. There is always 2 sides to every story, in the case of the OP there is about 4 that he has self admitted.

WEAR and RUST are not COVERED??

WTH is COVERED??

SCREW SNAP-ON - I am selling every piece I own if they cannot honor their own warranty, even friggin SEARS & LOWES do that!! UGH!! :rocketwho
Sorry but IMO, people like you are a classic example of what's wrong with our society.

1. Can't read or comprehend written information.... Check
2. Sense of entitlement... Check
3. Expect what they don't deserve, for free... Check
4. Run to the internet and have a temper tantrum when they don't get their way... Check

It doesn't matter how much you paid for the tool or what your speculative expectations were. The Lifetime Warranty is clear. It covers breakage or defects. Not normal wear, not cosmetics, not a lack of maintenance or any other silly reason you want to come up with.

This thread should be called "SHAME on wild cowboy"

Oh, and you seem to be a liar too...

my whole point of this thread was, if I am going to pay 8 times the price for a tool
but then...

Naah - I won't be loosing any money at all, I bought them at pawn shops, flea markets and ebay originally,

So which is it, did you pay 8x as much or did you get all the tools cheap at pawn shops, etc...
