Nah, I just use several deep impact sockets placed under the piece Im working on, if needed, to make it level.

If the blocking plate is cheap enough, and those pins wont shatter, then it could also be a good addition if you're frequently pressing odd shapes.

I bought one years ago, don't even remember where. It was the only thing I could find to get a Mazda hub set up straight in my press. I very very very rarely use it but it has been good to have around.

Being a machinist type fellow I keep an assortment of steel blocks, pipe sections, round stock and such all painted yellow to keep up with them in an old school steel hand tote tool box sitting on the base of the press. If something not there is needed, another one gets cut to size or machined for later use.

I think I can do the Knuckle Job, with what I have, but saw this Jig, and thought it interesting, and was wondering if I was the last guy to see it???

I have never seen the device but would feel more comfortable without it. It has some adjustability but does not make me feel warm and fuzzy with it supporting tons of pressure. If I was doing many presses of the same shape part I would build a devoted fixture.
In relation to the design of my press, I do not care for underslung jacks in a press. I built this press in the early 80’s along with helping a friend build one of his own. Here is a thread where I recently drilled additional support holes and painted it.

A thing I like with the jack on top is that it is not consuming work envelope before you even get started pressing something. Things work out to a comfortable work height with more vertical room for longer shafts.

I do not have one but people who do have said they work great. Plus, it should be safer than using some untested random pieces you have laying around.

I made a convertible press brake conversion for my 50-ton Carolina hydraulic press, and have bent up to 1/2" stainless in it.
