shortykorte,

Well you checked in on my thread so I'm pretty sure you are OK.

How goes it in Shorty's Shed?

Best regards,

Scott

Kinda the Slow Shed Show at the moment. Labor weekend was spent moving and the following weekend hang with Ms. Irma. Probably won't get any QST for another couple of weeks.

So what is this, another project to distract me from the 954 other projects I have going on. Labor Day weekend was spent moving into our new house. Wheels are already turning on how this garage will be set up. Being a lot closer to the shop is one bonus to this house. My plan is to park two vehicles in garage which forces me to give it the 5 stitches touch. 67fdee55274ccdf4f858cae6a559290f.jpg
One week in the house and had to break out the generator for Irma. Thankful the generator will stay at the house instead of taking up floor space at shop.

Another distraction to QST is getting the other house in ship shape. This weekend was spent getting the last items out of the attic, painting and finally finishing the terrace by adding the railing. Hey the terrace project was only 2 yrs versus the normal 3 yrs so I'm making some progress. 153b716c344415626d6d713f3e027d83.jpg
Beside filling the shop up from the move, some QST, I fixed one of lift arms. Some of the weld had some splatter that caused the arm to be difficult to extend. A little hacksaw work, done. 679720e828a5b937fcbf0f1a9ca4864a.jpg
I also pulled a wheel and drum off to verify a wheel cylinder leak. Hopefully this weekend it gets replaced. 9864557aff7efe0bd5dcf9a7fcb96622.jpg

Since you stopped by my thread I had to reciprocate and see what has been happening in your world. Man, I have missed a bunch, new house, fixing old house, cleaning up shop and oh yeah.... a little hurricane to prep for.... I am going to stop bitching about how busy I have been! Looking forward to seeing the “Gerarding process” begin in the garage. After the bandsaw incident try and keep the blood spillage to a minimum!

954 projects....that's just normal for a life of a gear head

If you get time maybe a few pics of the new house?

Looks like things are busy at your new place.
2 cars parked in the garage? what is that like? With all my garage space I still leave my 2 driver cars and my truck outside by the back door.
My wife asked me to get her prowler out so she could drive it. I charged it up and aired up the tires and it is still sitting behind the garage door. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Duker, You have no idea how hard it is trying to keep the Under secretary of safety of the Florida Chapter of the Garage Journal safe. As far as the Gerarding process... it’s been alittle slow. Trust me we’re trying.

Definitely gonna have some 5 Stitches favor to it. Its gonna look good when done.

Certainly appreciate a guy with lots of projects that is still organized enough to actually park cars INSIDE his garage.

We've always done this too. Well almost always.....

When we moved in 2015 my daily driver Tacoma had to sit out for about a year while the Three Stooges built my barn... I am pretty sure the Tacoma is still pissed off at me.

Got any room in the backyard for a small storage shed? We've got a 10' x 12'... it's awesome for removing clutter and stinky stuff from the attached garage.. like yard tools, gas cans, lumber, weed spray, etc.

It's one of new urbanism type neighborhoods. What's old is new again. Narrow lot, garage in back accessed by alley way.

I was looking for land for a barndominium but found this place. The house is in a super location so had been watching it get built. As soon as we walked into finished house we looked at each other and said this is it.
Barndominium will wait until we retire elsewhere. At least I know what the floor plan and look will be.

Have you painted the garage yet ? That's a pre-requisite before G will come and assess for 5 stitches viability.

Nice to have a blank slate to play with.

Last weekend was spent redoing some of the pavers on the terrace since our deal fell through. Had to add sand to both ends. 2dc63bcda5e95eb82ec81ecac3026873.jpg943eb6e84c51b5f95cb9bcded04282f5.jpg50b012d3b7bac1f822e03602b4dd76cc.jpg

All,
You mean I can't have two cars in the garage. lol

My Tahoe has always lived outside so use to it. Once SL is painted (remember project 892?) I want to park it in garage with top down.
I still have my shop so storage isn't a problem (or is a problem since I can store everybody's stuff).

Ok finally got some actual QST yesterday. I know you all have a pool going for when the next Safety Lesson will occur. Anybody have yesterday?
9cc38c1cd789398b44d9a0b62a4e052c.jpg Just a nick. Lol.
I had to cut down 3 barstools to match new one. 4cf9f241f2131207249723b6ca8e3d5b.jpg
In order to get final organization for two car parking, I want to paint the walls before shelves go up. afa38279bcb40054575862bca73df3a1.jpg Painting started this afternoon and should be finished tomorrow morning. ea52c7136d423ebab88a858bca1fc12d.jpg
Color is same as shop. I did this at my last house and the light grey is so much better and cleaner looking then white that shows dirt and dust.

Interesting house Shorty. They are building alot of neighborhoods around me with the garage in the back. Except the ones by me are very small. I think they are aimed at millennials. The "2 car" garages in the back can barely fit a smart car.

Wow! I really like the new house...Looks like the yard is already well established and I like the open floor plan on the inside, that is a nice Island you have in the kitchen and the bar stools are really cool...did you make them or buy them? I might have to steal that idea! Our bar stool have seen better days...I'm with you on the garage color, I get tired of everything being white! Nice to see you going with some color

So you still have your old house on the market?

I really like your new house! Great neighborhood concept. Are there shops within walking distance?

Thank you Andy. I've always liked these style neighborhoods.

Yes there are shops close by. Nice breakfast place and a Pizza Hut with a couple of places under construction. This neighborhood pretty much has everything less than a mile away and I'm just around the corner from my shop. Old house was 2-1/2 miles from shop.

Funny you mention smart car. My second dad has one. I thought about one for a commuter and so I could definitely get 2 cars in garage. Mpg would be better than the 11 mpg of Tahoe.

Thanks, the entire yard (all 40 sq. ft. Lol) was sodded. The location, open plan and kitchen sold us on house.
The stools are brought (3 yard sale, 1 new). They'd be easy to build. They're just 1" square tube and two bys laminated together. We brought the one from Houzz.com $149. With a chop saw, band saw, bar clamps and welder, you could whip 4 out for under the cost of one.

On the old house, we had a contract but lady backed out 2 days later so still on the market. If not sold soon, it becomes rental property.

Well the painting is complete. What I thought was going to be a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour actually turned into a 7-8 hr. project. 2bb98536962bccbb52a52cc653fc3d65.jpg
Getting closer to that second car fitting.
Got the brooms and mops off the floor. e52fd53e93b5b0fb379ef9ff16ad8e8c.jpg
And I improved the tool storage. 41da5c35c275957285792d0bcc5b58b3.jpg
I emptied a smaller box into this. Now tools aren't piled. This is the AV cart that was going to be sold, then a welder cart, then sold, then a yard tool cart to now a mobile work station. Vacuum is off the floor along with compressor. 17a40671d97b410bd81ce29ce8696034.jpg
The cart came with a power strip so now I have a place to leave chargers ready for action.

The only QST was to get some dusty yard tools that have been stored. Tools will be for the house landscaping. While going to the nurseries, I ran across my first Coffee and Cars gathering. My friend with the custom 56 Ford pu was there.
I knew there was a Ferrari in Tallahassee but didn't know we had a Lamborghini 3594f9a52025849f22e371b36bf739c2.jpg

What is it with European plastic. adb1d606c1751989724f599cabca3ce2.jpg like the SL, seems like you touch it, it cracks. d567f356a8cdd170a12aeee146dfd00c.jpg Nice looking engine though.

It's not just Euro plastic. All plastic and rubber made now is ****. The EPA has taken all the good stuff out so it will biodegrade.
