Thankful John (Toolfool) wasn’t scared off from his visit to Tallahassee. After he spend time house hunting, I gave him a tour of Tallahassee and some of our canopy roads. We had great conversations and if he decides on Tallahassee, I forward to his friendship. We finished up the tour with John buying dinner and a beer.

Jim, John asked about you at dinner and I kicked myself for us not dropping by since we drove close by your house. Definitely next time.

Had a great visit with Shorty. Thanks buddy. Hoping things work out and wife can find work in Tallahassee. Shop space may be minimal, so I might end up as the 'visiting' garage guy.

Sunny day. Red car. Looks nasty loud. No bothersome roof. Room on seat for your lady. Pull the trigger!

I did get what I came for. Sshhhhh!

Nice job on the Mercedes, it looks so different with fresh paint on the parts you kept.

Doesn’t it look great. I didn’t know I was that good of a painter.

Well, I decided on the 97% cheaper item. Good thing I can use it for my future, future 32/T bucket trike project. f082ce329fa2bc02eed367e763054a01.jpg

I don't know Shorty

The lathe looks like work while playing with it and the roadster is all play and no work. Hard decision huh. lol :beer: :thumbup:

Ummmm, $900 versus $44,0000?
I can still go back tomorrow. I wonder if the wife would mine me trading her SL and 2013 SRX for a car without AC and a roof. Umm, a lot of pondering tonight.

Shorty I totally agree, why not buy both.

If the 1/8 scale plastic model kit is still there, I might just end up with a 32. lol

Very enjoyable visit. Deciding to make a big move is big change and I hope you all can find a nice place to call home. You're more than welcome to be the visiting shop guy. I'm sure you can teach me a lot.

I think you made the wise choice, though I now have lathe envy because yours is bigger than mine, and newer. ;)
I left him no choice. Told him if he didn't buy it I would. It took no more than 30 seconds from the door opening. I still got a couple of things though.
It's really not bigger than mine but it's surely more modern and has some cool stuff included.

Well, I’ve always found it’s not the size of the lathe but what you do with it. Lol.

shorty I am just envious because I don't have a lathe.

If you compare my shop and quality of work to yours, you definitely won’t be envious. I’ll see if I can find an old plastered wall house and send you some lath. Oh wait that’s not the same. Lol.

It seems as though "tapatalk" is not playing nice with photo posting on the GJ.:shocking:

Thanks for stopping in. Sorry the pics aren’t working for you.

That is one big chunk of iron. It should be good for many hours of serious play, er, work. Yes, work.

I just need to find something for the wife that needs turning.

Future future projects, that is my style for sure! Nice looking lathe.

Thanks! This toy adds about 50 new projects to the 954 other future projects.

Make sure you pay attention to your other hobbies, you don't want to get all wrapped up in your new lathe.:shocking:

Nice lathe!!

Just one more thing to help my attention deficit. Thanks. I think I finally got lucky like everyone else.

That's what the guys with the little lathes say...

But, seriously, don't get wrapped up in your lathe.

That thought didn’t occur to me, being so busy making his toes down don’t get run over by 800 lb cabinets.

Shorty did use a grinder to prep a float for moving the lathe with no injuries!

Ouch... yeah definitely don't!

Nice lathe Shorty!

I nearly owned one like it though it was nowhere near as tidy as that one. I think that model has a back gear shaft and the gears are prone to damage. The one I looked at had the whole back gear shaft removed and lost. Otherwise it is a very handy and manageable size which I can just about drag around by myself.

It’s a present but I don’t think it needs wrapping. Hey I need to wear long sleeves so I don’t get shards and I can tie the battery box to my **** so I don’t get wrapped up. Lol.

Thanks. It does have a back shaft with pulleys. I believe there’s what’s called a “back” shaft with gears for changing hi-lo. When I get it home, I’ll check it out more thoroughly.

It sounds like the size of your project list is catching up with mine

Just enjoy each day as you play in the garage and don't fret over the list of things to do. :lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Only 954 more projects?

Ok 953 now. Yep, if I thought about all the projects I’d be depressed. I need to stop being distracted and get back to “the project” Hint:f1952c1f4be89dce5f30f2621948faf9.jpg

In prep to pick up the lathe from Craig’s, the Caddy got a hitch. 8f42b0b986ba34d348f8f441c114a3c7.jpg
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to install. I think the time it took to setup lift and get tools was equal to install time of around an hour both.
The hoist Craig has is the bomb. Once the balance was sorted out, it was easy to lift lathe, pull his trailer out and back out Uhaul in. I’m really liking renting the open trailers. They’re solid and inexpensive for local rental. cec2a9eca45ef056dd4d7f7b973b7dff.jpg0da746c930d9b4ceff0a8b9badfdca8a.jpg

For those that remember my first safety incident, I thought this would be a funny photo. The beloved battery box.
