I call shenanigans, no blood. On the shelf, is it a shop or a man cave? Top priority in a shop is does it function. Pretty is a luxury

Does almost blood count? The modem is in the master bedroom closet.
We're in Shorty's Shed. Most rules, even the rules of physics don't apply here.
Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules….where we’re going. 😜

Finally made an order with McMaster-Carr. Didn’t realize they’re in Georgia. Placed order Monday at 4:30, was at UPS same day and on my doorstep by noon today. 👍
Metal wheel for table saw. 4266233B-DD5A-47CB-8859-ACF2C313D689.jpeg
some 5/8” shoulder bolts for the welding bench. These definitely fit the holes a lot better.

and with the nut for my Rockwell buffer being made of unattainium, I got one of these slip-on spindles.

I’m wondering if I should cut off some of the original shaft. This weekend will be spent rewiring this mess and trying out my buffing skills. 4865A55D-E22E-4AA6-A3A2-88BDAF1F43E2.jpeg

HELP!!!!!
Edit: I found a good video. This guy has an interesting channel.
Attempted to replace power cord and nest of motor wires. Wiring up, based on color taped ends had it running backwards. Fiddling around, I got it to run very slow after hand pushing the arbor. Searching wiring diagrams and cleaning the wires some, I found out the “brown” wire is actually red and a “white” wire is the brown. The yellow wire isn’t yellow anymore. I assume it’s one of the white wires39BC4A5A-C22E-4642-A73F-D74FF8B1FCA4.jpeg
Mine doesn’t have the motor plate but found this on an identical buffer.

Another fun fact is the original switch (works) is DPST with one or two wires coming off some poles.

Jeremy Fielding is very good. I've made good use of his videos. He does much more than electric motors, but that's how I found out about him.

It looks like that wiring diagram you found is the key to solving it. Are you planning to run it at 115 or 230 volts?

Sometimes, if you have to spin the armature by hand to get a motor running, it might suggest the "Start capacitor" is bad (if it has one). There might be a Start cap and/or Run cap, combined Start/Run cap, or neither depending on the motor needs. Typically a cap is under a big bump in the housing for the bigger motors. It could be located elsewhere in the wiring as well. Have you seen anything like that?

Well a great way to start the day, in the crapper. 836E4661-37FB-4BAD-8961-CCC437D4B558.jpeg
Today is bathroom day. Picked up a $40 Koehler toilet from Habit for Humanity Restore. Replaced the leaking cartilage in shower and switched the shower head for a shower wand. After sitting patiently for a decade, I installed a medicine cabinet and screwed the diamond plate backsplash to the wall. Added a little kick out at bottom to help direct water back towards sink. 433564D6-C1AE-4D6E-BA11-691534CF0104.jpeg

That's the toilet I had to use in India! There was a stick nearby in case you missed.

Not much going on. More housecleaning. Retested the stove that came with the building and found the digital control panel not working. Scrap! Removed the brass from a wall water fountain. Shell scrap! Pulled out a tote of parts from a wreck Ski’tique I had. Numerous brass pieces. Now I have to decide to try selling or scrap at $2/lb.

Floor space to fill back up.
also part of the pile was some wire shelf cutoffs. Let’s cut to size, bend with brake, walla!

Since you're doing such a great job in cleaning things up, I'd be willing to pay for a ticket on American Airlines to come up and help clean the Hack Shack. But I won't pay for the overnight hotel stay when they screw up the flight.

More housekeeping. Loaded up the bad stove, the wall mount drinking fountain and has much metal I could remove from the gas pump. BCB6A124-6067-4F2F-BE41-6005C331D3D1.jpeg
400# plus of scrap gone. I did get some nice SS and aluminum panels.

When I returned, loaded the old toilet and a of wood and stuff and hauled it to the dump.

On the pump, drilled out the locks and found this. AFC6E131-41FE-4673-BDE7-F62F5C305D02.jpeg
This has 10 or more computer boards. Didn’t know if it was a gas pump or a space shuttle. Funny how time and technology changes. Our pumps at the Texaco station were all mechanical. A friend came over to check on any parts he might want and with his help, ended up here. 41A468B3-660D-4C4B-8F39-574274D59549.jpegI also tried out powder coating. Super quick, didn’t read the instructions.DA27B6A0-D61B-4F47-A0DF-387CAA1D8D3B.jpeg
New old stove works great. I’m sure with properly prepped metal, gun settings and learning proper technique I’ll get better results.

Road trip to Florida Flywheelers. On the way down Thursday, stopped at a scrapyard Craig has visited in the past. Picked up some grating for blast cabinet project and the left wing of welding bench. Also found some nice 6” casters5E34DFF4-88F6-4608-8A61-7AFB428B90BD.jpeg
…and this cool Art Deco looking cabinet/cart.

Also picked up a deal on some heater hose for a trash bag retainer. 13035193-DDF1-484B-95D7-321142997C0A.jpegGood time riding around with Craig and Chris, checking at everything.

Great day. Started out a sunny 57°, clear, and lower humidity so I was enjoying being in shorts, t-shirt, and safety shoes.
After 5-6 trips to HD/Lowe’s, more fittings than I needed and some 3D printing, the air inlet manifold is complete. The blue hose is an air hose used by RVs when towing. Has a tiny quick connect so thought it would be perfect for blow gun. Thanks Flywheelers.

Here is the plumbing completed. 0FF28A2A-38DA-46C0-B53B-C05FDA56392F.jpeg
Also welded up a dolly for it from scrap angle. Weld table sure makes life easier.

and because the cabinet will be too short, an old AV cart provided the material for extensions.

Great time for sure.

You should be happy I’m not still at my old job that took me in the area of the scrap yard, otherwise all you would of seen was a casterless cart.🤣🤣🤣.

Glad you made it by, it’s a cool place.

Jim, I haven’t fired it up yet. You know me, projects always take longer than normal. Ed build a similar valve out of galv. pipe for his HF. The valve and using a vacuum he said made a huge difference. He uses it regularly now.

Is it really worth all that work? 4 months of sitting on CL, Fleabay, and Marketplace, I was able to come up with a really nice cabinet with a vacuum system for $350.

Sure is. This cabinet has been sitting in its box since 2009. 🤣
Knowing what I know now, you’re 100% correct. At the time I didn’t know the HF needed work to get it to function like a normal cabinet.

Yeah, I'm looking for a hydraulic press, and no love for the last 3 weeks. Has to be at least 12 tons and less than $200. Patience is not my long suite, but being cheap is.

My biggest problem with the hf cabinet is no room, Dalton asked if I could blast a set of wheels he was going to powder coat and I couldn't flip them in the cabinet, I had to open the door and take them out each time I wanted to get another angle.
