Was the paint or powdercoating removed down to the metal? curious indeed.

edit: did a google search, and found some info that harbor freight was selling this set-up in stainless steel around 2006. Still interested in hearing back from the poster of that box though.

Cool. Thanks for all the pics! Gives me (and others) a better idea of the available storage of the box.

Okay, this is the first time I've posted any pictures. Not really sure what I'm doing. My camera kinda ***** too. The crinkle I mentioned is in the top right corner of the chest, there's a closeup. I'll post the rest tomorrow.....

BTW, the weather has warmed up and the drawers are working great.

Thats the stock finish, and yes I got it around 2005-2006.
I like that box...
Thanks, I've actually been considering selling it to buy a red chest and roller combo. I haven't been able to find the stainless side cabinets or any accesories to work with this one.

Thanks! I really like these tools. I first started buying the Toptul from that Brian guy on Ebay a couple years ago. Then after he disappeared I joined this site a started buying from Mike Wren.

Here's the pics of my drawers. Most guys like all their sockets up in the full width top drawer. Due to my socket organizational trays, I chose to throw all (well most) of my metric wrenches up top. And I have a separate drawer for 1/4", 3/8", & 1/2" sockets, ratchets, and what not. It works out pretty well for me though.

/\/\ - That post has inspired me. I'm going to HF and buying 2 of those bottom boxes. You can't beat the amount of storage for the price. All my Hammerhead boxes are completely full and I'm not paying Snap On/Matco prices for another box.

Can you use 20% coupons on those boxes in the store? I have a store 15 min from me and they have those boxes in stock.

Some say you can, and some say you can't. You'll just have to try. Good luck.
Looks like the chest is on sale for $399 (typical price).

And there is a coupon out there for $369 (starts JAN. 1) This is a fairly good price.

I seem to recall paying around $320 to $340 after tax and coupon when I got my chest. And around $145 for the end cabinet.

Man Im glad I paid $270 when I did :bounce:

Yea you're a lucky MF'er. I'd buy 3 of them for that price.

I guess I'll pick 2 of them up on the $369 deal. All my boxes are full, and we're starting my sons tool collection so I need more storage. US General it is..

Lucky kid. It's a great choice for a first box. Much better than the pop cans that Sears sells. I'd take in these coupons and the 20% coupons. Try the 20% and if it works, great! If not, oh well.

Agreed. I shopped @ Sears first, and the new Craftsman boxes feel like that were made out of recycled aluminum cans. The US General box feels much thicker and more sturdy.

My kids are lucky. I'm a single dad raising 2 boys, ALL my spare money is spent on them since I don't have a wife to spend it on. LOL :)

I had to move this box into my shed at home. When the temp dropped well below 30 the drawers are very hard to open (sometimes I have to pull with both hands) and the slides are a little rough. Not many things function too well in the cold though . QUOTE]

I have my HF box in a garage thats unheated most of the time, and had the same problem. I pulled all the drawers out, wiped out as much grease as I could, and used 3 in one oil on the slides. also bent the rear of the slides open a little where they go into the detent. Works much more better in the cold now.:bounce:

Two bottom cabs, an 8 foot workbench, and another roll cart. Might be selling the rollcart for another base cabinet.

Just when you think you have plenty of room...you don't!:lol_hitti

Me too! Just wish those dang top boxes went on sale for less than $300. And now, i can't use a 20% on it :( because they're considered a "top CABINET" which i think is a buncha ****. Only thing that should be excluded is bottom boxes.

All, I did verify from Mpls, MN store that HF insider club (?) pricing is $329.99. I picked up a road and track and used the $349 coupon since I'm not a member.
