Found this Lakeside Forge Company No. 304 "S" wrench this morning at the flea, to go with a Lakeside Forge Company No. 302 "S" wrench I have had for a very long time with no branding on the major jaw face, just the Keystone-L logo on the shank.

Here are a couple of Enderes DOE ‘S’ wrenches that were clearly original standard Southington issue. Southington logo is ground off and Enderes is stamped on the head. I don’t know anything about this situation. Was this the quickest way for Enderes to enter the ‘S’ wrench market? They did later have a line of standard type ‘S’ wrenches. Did they get some used tooling somehow?
Did they acquire Southington tooling? Did they simply get Southington wrenches and change the markings? I would be glad to find out more.
(This may get double posted in other threads.)

Added another wrench (1416 - 1/2 x 7/16) to the 1920s era Kraeuter collection...

Wow Lugz you have quite an addition there.
That appears to be a reel jenuwine Kraeuter tappet wrench. See if that looks like it could be O1416.
Yours, and the one shown on AA, are the only two I have ever seen.
Very, very cool.

Picked up this Beta wrench at the flea this morning. Note the "ALLIED ITALY" stamping on the face of the major jaw. That's a FOAK for me. I also posted on the 'Old World' thread up on the General board, linked here.

Also unearthed this relic. Farm machinery wrench for sure. Marked "FEED MILL" on one side and illegible "? W? H O L ? ?" on the flip side. That will eventually work its way out.

Thanks, LS. Here's an example (Pic 1, lot number 244) in much better condition than mine, from the 2013 Wrenching News auction of the Monte Shockman collection in York, Nebraska. The photo doesn't show the flip side, but the auction listing (Pic 2) confirms it.

Some recent DOE finds. The first picture is Mossberg, the second is a Vlchek with no size markings. The last one is a couple of unmarked but unusual wrenches.

This was an interesting find for me. I have plenty of DOE "S" wrenches, including a complete Southington set, a partial Lakeside set, and a few Kraeuter and Simanco, and I have a complete set (and then some...) of J.P. Danielson CONTROLLED STEEL DOE engineers wrenches. But this is the first CONTROLLED STEEL DOE "S" wrench I have or that I have ever seen in the wild.

Typewriter font. May 1934 production date code.

I have four of the five CONTROLLED STEEL 'S' wrenches. Still looking for a 5/8 x 11/16.
Same details as shown by Lugz, even to the identical "date code" on the 1/2 x 9/16.

A close look at the little "date code" area doesn't reveal any indication of repeated welding and re-stamping. Trying to constantly modify production tooling that is otherwise serviceable is generally a huge PITA.
I guess I wonder if those little characters are simply tooling identifiers.

Those look good, leg!
I have been following the couple of threads concerning Evaporust etc.,.
Maybe this summer I can get them, and other stuff I have, cleaned up to my satisfaction. I'm not a fan of the current trend, especially on the vise threads and on youtube, of 'restorations' that solely involve lots of polishing and buffing and bright paint.

I've been meaning to get my DOE collection together for a while... I know some aren't vintage.

This Blue Point wrench my father found around the time I was born. I always liked the way it felt in my hands. I think it's from 1957.

My Craftsman smaller ones. These are from the 1960s

And the larger ones.

When you need a thin wrench you need a thin wrench.

These came from who knows where. 5 different pairs. There's never been a Toyota in the family.

New York, Delaware, Maryland, California, West Virginia, Cuba, Chile (I know, not States), to name a few. 99 years under the BSCorp name, 85% of the steel that built NYC - it didn’t all come out of PA.

Researching a corporation whose name is the same as the city of its headquarters and most famous facilities is difficult; you can’t put a boolean “-Bethlehem” into the search field. Lawsuits were somewhat helpful, but I didn’t follow up on all of them, so probably missed many sites. In addition to making steel, BSCorp owned iron and coal mines, wire-rope and rebar manufacturing, shipyards, etc. A hand-engraved common-sized wrench could have been used almost anywhere.
Here are a few sites I found with internet searches:

Seattle WA

Los Angeles CA

San Francisco CA

Beaumont TX

Burns Harbor IN

Lackawanna NY

Staten Island NY

Quincy MA

Hoboken NJ

Wilmington DE

Jacksonville FL

Miami FL

Johnstown PA

Williamsport PA

I’m not sure how it got to Illinois

But more to the point, Bethlehem was registered in 46 states, in which it conducted business, like constructing the Chrysler plant near Belvidere IL.

I have a few of those and I believe that Username has some NOS ones in a box. They apparently make four of the WW2 Jeep toolset sizes but no one has ever found a 723 equivalent (3/8” x 7/16”). That FSN would be 41-W-991.558969BF-38E6-4814-9196-5EC97690E97E.jpeg9915EF7F-B253-42AD-86BC-3670B750D645.jpeg

The name comes from the Arcturus Zone, which was the name given to the rich Quaternary oil deposits of the alluvial plans in LA County (Le Brea, Santa Monica, etc), and started in a tin shed on the property of the Arcturus Oil Company, in 1945, explicitly to take advantage of the nascent postwar military-industrial complex. More info in post #21 and #38 of this thread, and Unaiu's NOS box can be seen in posts #41 and #45 on the same thread.
