My 3 ton Labar beast, 57 years old works like a charm

I've found jack oil local to me to put in my older jacks. It is a Bar's Leaks brand made to stop leaks, I'm leery of using in case it gums things up. Any input on this stuff?
I've never seen anything over 3.5 tons that wasn't a long frame jack. That looks like any number of jacks today that retail for somewhere between US$100-150, but that's about as close as I can get, just based on the searches I have done recently trying to identify a couple of jacks that I have. TBH, I don't think I would have paid that much, but you have a working jack that is probably still better than the new imports today.
I'm opposed to putting anything that is supposed to plug holes into anything that relies on holes to move fluid. I'd use motor oil before I would use Bars Leaks. YMMV

I've been a lurker on here for a number of years and been a member for a while but haven't had much cause to post anything until today. I found this Walker jack on CL for a pretty cheap price but it needs a rebuild. The ID tag has been ripped off(rivets are still there) and it didn't come with a ram cover plate or nose piece. I believe it was originally red and painted 2different shades of blue over the years. Can anyone give me info as to what model it may be. The only markings I found are on the lift arms with G 634 cast into them...
Unfortunately that plate is missing. the rivets are still there, so i assume the jack was crammed under too low of a vehicle at some point and ripped the plate off.The model number should be on a plate rivetted to the base of the handle. Here's a thread of a complete rebuild of a similar jack:

There's another thread with step by step photos of it, but I apparently didn't bookmark that one. I was lucky. My 784 was sold to me not working, but it had a rebuilt by Lincoln (IIRC) sticker on the cylinder. All it needed, though, was some hydraulic fluid and it works great. Good luck with your new toy - er, tool.

You should find blue being the original color, here's a link with some info about your jack that should help you identify which one it is.http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114433&highlight=vintage+floor+jacks
To my eye it looks a bit short to be the 4 ton big boy, but it's a little hard to tell from the angle.
Wow that's awesome^^^^^
Considering the snap on Jack is made in China......I wouldn't thing twice about getting that harbor freight Jack. That thing looks really nice.

FYI: Harbor Freight has made a knock off of this same jack that will be hitting stores in the next month. 3 year warranty included too, something new at Harbor Freight. It will be interesting to see some reviews.

I just kill myself sometimesHow do you figure? The only difference I see between the HF Daytona jack and the Snap On is a extra crease in the bottom flange over the wheels on the handle side and no taper going to the other side.
The black HF jack has completely different side pieces.

Their design? Which company? I definitely see where in the YouTube video claims they are made in SC, My Concern would be in how Heavily invested Snap on is with Shinn fu currently and in the past in regards to filling there lifting needs. Why if they had there own company would they outsource for similar lift equipment? It definitely has some specs that arent common in your lower priced jacks, such as a Magnet in the Reservoir etc... Id be curious to who the REAL OEM is, My Gut based off the drawings tells me that its just a revamped Low Profile made to Snap on specs, Probably the Same supplier as the Monster Mobile jacks and the New Mac Low Profile that recently showed up. Ive had good luck in the Past with Snap on in regards to simply calling them and asking for the OEM of some of there products, If i get a chance ill see what they say Monday.
Just comparing exploded view diagrams here...

Definitely some similarities within the drawings, along with some differences in the frame etc, As i stated earlier Snap on has never Manufactured any of there lifting equipment in the Past, So Unless there is something New on the Horizon its extremely feasible that they are having these jacks made to there specs, Magnet, Ucups all around etc..
How do you figure the snap on jack is made in China

I went to harbor freight about an hour ago to check out this new jack. They said they got 2 in but they have not been unloaded yet and were at the bottom of the pallet. They told me the price would be $199 and a coupon can not be used.
I said I would come back once they get them out.
I am very interested in these now because my craftsman Jack is very old and whil still works I would like a longer/quicker one and not a $500 Chinese snap on one.

Well until someone dissects one of the Chinese snap on ones to find out what wonderful materials their seals are made out of I'll stick with the less expensive Chinese jack with the same warranty

You know what's funny? The probably added the crease there to prevent a lawsuit from SO, so it has enough 'difference'.
