Kev,

You are a brave soul. That looks like death waiting to happen to me.

Ed

I made a set that does basically the same thing. But I think mine may be a little safer:

Here s a picture of my old lift and my new garage. I hope to have the lift moved by Wed next week. The new garage is almost big enough.

Rotary 9000lb 2 post that was origonally installed wrong, caused a full size long bed crew cab chevy to get stuck on the lift. It is now holding this 30 ford that we are building from scratch until the trans mount is finished.

I finally have my Bendpak HD9ST hoist up and running and my wifes SL has come home from storage to try it out. I got it with the RJ-45 jacking beam, rolling oil tray and drip trays.

Help me find a lift!

Help me find a lift (please)!

Looking for something like a Bendpak HD-9 with a bridge jack and casters but hoping for something cheaper then the Bendpak. I'm looking for something that doesn't have external cabling like the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S though. I like how the Bendpak has everything tucked away and clean.

Started a thread here so I don't hijack this one.

Appreciate the help up front!

That is a very good looking lift (Of course, it's Italian). Andy

Interestingly enough, I just came in for dinner, and I'm about halfway through tearing my lift down!

A shipping container will arrive tomorrow (btwn 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and the 9k# floorplate (2-post) lift will be the first thing to go in.

In another month, April 27, 2012, if the builder is to be believed, we'll be movingh into another house some 1100 miles to the south. Besides the 1000 SF attached garage, where this existing lift will go, I'll also have a detached 1050 SF building in which I'll be putting in a Bend-Pak XPR 10A (overhead cables & hydraulic hose).

Pictures of the lift(s) in the new place will have to wait.

Randy, nice to see a fellow Bimmer Forums member over here. Wow, that is a huge move. What prompted the distance/location?

I will be relocating my benpack single post lift over to the new garage addition and also relocating my Rotary symmetrical lift from my shop 30 miles south. Cant wait to have everything close and under one roof.

Wow! I've frequently "joked" about putting a tray ceiling in the garage (there's already one in the master bedroom directly above this portion of the garage). I really like the amount of space you have around your work area too!

I'm pretty sure that I've never seen so many Certificates of Acheivement before; what all are you into, if you don't mind me asking?

Here's mine.

I think I win the award for the smallest garage with a lift! 10 x 20!

I think YOU WIN too! Just proves that with enough determination, anything's possible ;)

Although I hate to mention it (snicker, snicker  ) the master closet in the house we're selling is 12' x 20' (new house has two walk-ins, but they won't add up to the closet space in the house we're leaving).

Here's my kid on my DirectLift.

Nice Ride!

I love all types of cars, but my own collection (wow, 3 cars, right :rolleyes ) has always been focused on sportscars, but I'd like the freedom of building a hotrod, as opposed to conforming to an accurate restoration. I'm guessing that's a '34 - '36 Ford 3-window Coupe, and it's exactly the type of street-rod I'd like; Halibrands are a must, full-fendered and I'd like to think it would have an FE-big block Ford engine with dual quads and a quick-change rear end. I've got the plan, all I need is the money!

Yes, a familiar face (err, screen name...) indeed!

We've actually had our sights on Sarasota for about eleven (>11) years, but my wife had to sell her practice first. It took until last August for that to happen (there were a couple of false-starts in the past several years, but the deals fell apart for one reason or another) and we started construction on a house immediately afterward. It's scheduled for completion 4/27/12.

As soon as we get the certificate of occupancy, I'll be heading straight down to start getting the garage set up; I'll be needing to get back to work as soon as I can, and it looks like I have about a year's worth of ///M Rdstrs & Coupes waiting in line for me to open the doors!

It looks like my wife has a good shot at going to work for an Audiologist down there (the woman/doctor/owner of the private practice called last night and kept my wife on the phone for 1:45, and kept making references as though Sue my wife, was already hired).

As I let the reality of the new garage(s) sink in, I'm sure I'll be checking back here for tips on making the best use of space. See you on the other board ;)

Not a great pic, but it's a Harding Steel lift. American made, all galvanized, powered by a Baldor motor.

Please don't mind the construction.

Currently, in the middle area of the this car, I can stand up fully with out bending over (I'm 5ft 11"), however, most cars/trucks are larger and we plan on building a recess in the ceiling so the car/truck can go up another 2ft.

I am really pleased with this lift, its an atlas bp9000 from greg smith equipment. I love coming up with excuses just to use it. Its smooth as butter.

I find that waxing the rocker panels and under the bumpers with the cars on a lift makes that job a whole lot easier (as I get older...).

Just in case you haven't discovered that excuse yet

Not to go too far off-topic, but how do you like this lift? Sturdy?
I've been thinking about getting one, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Looks like the cables weren't tightened correctly or there was a bind in a pulley, that installer has some explaining to do...or at least should come out and have a looksie.

I can't wait to get a garage big enough for a lift, problem is it will have to lift a big diesel 3/4 ton. So I was thinking about a 10k

Did anything fall off the lift? I'm not sure what my nephews lift is, but he had the same thing happen to him.

No. This happened just after they put it together. I was playing with it and one front latch did not release. I was not looking at the front of the lift and when I turned around that's what it looked like. Needless to say I was :scared:. I just called that guys and he said "just lift it up" and it will straighten up"....and it did. LESSON here always keep your eyes on all four corners when operating lift.

It's a 1928 Rotary Lift that I restored. It only uses hydraulics- no air assist and is one of the oldest Rotary Lifts still in operation.

Out back in the barn, just a few feet behind the old shop is another, newer Rotary Lift...

LiftSm4.jpg

LiftSm2.jpg

...that is 82 years newer. Each one has it's own merits and I use them both all the time.

Very nice, I haven't used it yet for that, but I definitely will!

I love it, we used to have a older rotary, this thing is a whole lot nicer, more stable, wider, more features, goes up higher and down lower, smoother, built better etc.

Don't get me wrong, I loved using that older rotary, and at the time we thought it was wonderful. It saved us a lot of time then.

I would def recommend someone to these lifts, especially over buying a second hand one. Purchasing it was fast and easy. Walked in their massive show room, 15 min later they were loading a nice and shiny new lift on my trailer. Installation was a breeze, took us ~4hr. Since then, I've done nothing to it but re tq the mounting hardware. So far it has worked the same, day in, day out. I'm very pleased with my purchase, a friend recommended me to them.

Thanks, but the one in the picture seems to allow for individual control. If Bendpak made that type I'm all over it!

QUOTE "I was wondering if anyone here can point me in the general direction where I might find this sort of lift. I can't find anything similar via Google etc.

Thanks in advance!"

I believe that "superlifts" also makes a double four poster.
