Incorrect. 90% of people put the hoists on the floor. Just make sure you set the hoist on the floor in the middle of a hot day.

You would put a lift directly on top of a racedeck tile like he was asking? If the tile doesn't collapse from the weight of the lift, the tension from the anchors, and the weight of a vehicle on top I would be very very surprised.

Not only would I, but I have as has most racedeck users with 4 post hoists. I don't have mine bolted down though. If it were a 2 post you can't do that.

My Rotary SPOA88 7K. Snatched this up for free from my father who was selling his building that once housed a transmission shop. Had a buddy with a skid steer and a flatbed who helped me remove and deliver to my home. From there, I installed it in my pole barn completely by myself.

Here's my 9000# Forward lift I picked up off Craigslist for $900.
A bit used, but works great!

That's why I was asking, I know I've seen guys do it, or it looked like that in the pics.

I've been extremely surprised/impressed at what my racedeck floor has held up to. My 5,000 lb truck sitting on jack stands for 6 months at a time, with the sharp metal edges sitting on the floor, not even a flat bottom, and after 6 months I take the truck down and not even an indent on the floor. With the big flat bottom of the lift legs, I figured it would be okay but wanted to confirm. I do plan to bolt mine, but not to the point of crushing the living heck out of it....mostly just enough to add some stability but not be relying on it as you would with a 2 post.

Revamped's Challenger Re: Show off your lifts!!!

Hell, I'll toss mine on here!

Challenger CLV10-3 DPC.

Extended height; why not... I have 17ft ceilings.

DPC; The ability to lay on the floor next to the project on either side and use the remote to watch as I separate frame from body, and target lift points to ensure everything is GTG and safe.

Versymmetric; 3-stage front and rear arms... one lift, one solution for everything.

I've gotta admit, I've always wanted to get in on this thread and I finally can. It's a Rotary 10k Smartlift. I haven't seen many of these on here and thought you all might like to see a modern version of an in-floor lift.

This style obviously takes some additional planning and is a bit more expensive but eliminates the need for posts, which has some benefits.

Slick.

I can see the advantage of the in floor lift when not working on the car... but when you are working on the car... the posts are in the way.

Kind of a personal preference dealio.

How would you repair the cylinders or piping if there is an issue?

We have 6 of these at work. We like them for flexibility of the space. Not cheap though.

There are always trade offs with any lift configuration - a fact supported by the regularity of debates on the GJ - but I've never had an issue getting at anything because of the posts. They are further apart than they appear in the pic I posted

In my case, the lack of side posts is almost a necessity due to the relatively small space and plans for a bridge crane.

I haven't had to do any repairs or maintenance but the manufacturer claims everything can be done through the access panels from above. I'l let you know if I ever have to find out.

Wow! that is a really cool lift. Do you mind sharing what the average cost installed is? I paid double for the challenger as compared to a bend-pak... it might be good for people to know how close to their budget this type of lift would be.

Also, how deep did they have to dig to install?
Thanks for sharing

If I remember correctly, I paid around $6,700 for it. The lift structure is enclosed in a fiberglass casing, which protects it from groundwater and contains any leaks.

Due to some very wet soils, I built a concrete pit during construction to keep the hole from caving in. I think it was about 7' deep. You can supposedly cut a hole in an existing floor, excavate, set the lift and backfill right against it.

Been working on getting settled in the new place for the last couple of months, plus trying to get back to work (3rd car since getting here is currently under the knfe).

I brought my old Eagle floorplate lift to use in the clean garage; this will be primarily for keeping my own cars on, and occasional detailing & maintenance work:

I put a new BendPak XPR10A in the (detached) dirty garage; after moving in, this car sat here for a full month while I got the shop outfitted to go back to work (on the buyer's behalf, the seller held onto the car waiting for us to be able to move for about four__4__months, the car arrived less than a week after we did:

Time to go back to work!

I LOVE those old M Coupes! Now I know who to call when I want one. You clearly have more than your fair share. :scared:

Bendpak HD-9ST...

Looks great! Few questions as I'm trying to sort out which I should go with.

Why did you go ST instead of the regular HD-9?
How wide is your door opening?
Any issue getting cars on the lift with the narrow posts?

Bendpak HD9 installed yesterday. Already have the '65 Fastback up there for storage until I can get the '67 coupe rusty bits replaced.

I have a couple of motorcycle lifts but only one in use currently. My original Handy lift is in my storage bay at the moment but I have my newly acquired Handy SAM 2 lift in the shop. I'm expecting the new Handy lift to provide at least the same level of performance that the original did for the past 25+ years.

New Handy SAM 2 motorcycle lift.

The front and rear drop down sections sure will be nice. It always made me nervous to lift the bikes up high enough to remove tires from dressers on my old Handy. I never had an issue but it just made me anxious.

My old Ammco 10k pound capacity lift that I brought with us from our old home shop and placed in our new shop. Not the greatest picture.

Here it is with my 2006 2500HD Duramax on it. I mounted a Reelcraft air hose reel and paper towel pull dispenser on it when I set it up in our new shop for convenience.

Man, I love that SAM2 lift! What does something like that run out the door?
revamped

If I remember right it was about $1650 delivered to my doorstep. I had actually ordered it clear back in March but they weren't available from the manufacturer and it took me several months to get it. Well worth the wait though as I am very pleased with it so far. Should be much nicer to remove tires/wheels than with my original Handy. I went through Garage Equipment Supply.

The Birkin on the Snap-on (rebranded Wheeltronic) scissor lift. Was giving it a bit of polish and wax in preparation for a car show last Saturday. There is a two post lift in my future.....
