Just awesome! Would you post a video of it running?

Any idea what it weighs?
If you're referring to the Royersford, it does weigh about 800 lbs or 1050 lbs depending on lineshaft or motor drive. Mine's a motor drive one and here's the link to mine running in my basement.

Oh the shame. It sure looks as if you are drilling right through into the table.

Seriously nice machine though.

Nope, there is already a big bored hole in that table right there. Happened before I got it. That was my first run off it.

What's truly sad is this one went to scrap and they wouldn't let me save it. It's a W.F. Barnes 2.5.1658131e868229567611ab675cc602ec.jpgdc61fc3efa88703ef3d6b135ca0bea78.jpg93ba36c0fe0958513316bad1d4c00ccd.jpgca2bf2282817457570917b6fc07d7323.jpg

Nice looking drill press!

I had the opportunity to get a Canedy-Otto several years back really cheap, But I had to pass on the opportunity due to the weight & it's over-all size.

Here's to you for getting that beast (and the one next to it) in your basement!

I saved this one about a month ago from a company that got bought out, the motor tag says 1969 for the date and everything looks original. Not much info online unless you can read Japanese, but it seems like a quality press. Anyone know much about these?image.jpg

Love those Delta lights!

Any good source for set ups like that other than retrofiting cheap ones from target? Picked up a parts drill press yesterday with a gooseneck and socket but no shade to it.

Someone was giving away this Walker-Turner 900 as a parts machine, but it looks like there are all the parts except the motor and pulley.

It's probably also missing the spring retractor and related parts, & spindle bearings...

Spring is there, bearings are on the spindle. Looks like someone just took the spindle out for some reason.

It is missing the quill lock but I can make one of those.

I think Outlaw was referring to the upper bearings. That model W-T looks to have an upper support bearing.

No question, you deserve a "you ****" for that freebie!

Yeah their pretty cool looking, But I like their resale value even more!

I picked up a little 11" Rockwell/Delta 11-100 drill press with a retirement light from E-Bay for $85. I sold the retirement light for $65, So the drill press ended up only costing me $20.

First two pictures are from the original E-Bay photos!
The rest of the pic's are after cleaning it up.
The paint is original & still in really good shape, Just needed a good cleaning.

My latest project is a couple of 20" Walker Turners that I picked up from C/L.

Their in pretty poor condition, But I got them both for $75, Should be able to make one complete drill press from the two!

There's a damaged area on the one head & a mounting lug broke off of the guard. Thankfully the broken pieces are included, So brazing or welding is an option. One of the tables has a broken corner with/out the missing pieces, So that repair may be a little trickier?

Had to post this after seeing the thread. This is my cool old drill press which I picked up this past October. It was born in '46 and was sold out of my hometown Fort Worth, Texas. My fourth Delta OWWM from the '40s. :) Gawd I love OWWM. And now you guys here at GJ have gotten me on the slippery slope of vintage tools and toolboxes! I'm loving it!

Might want to research those over on OWWM, seems bearings and part interchangeability can be a little sketchy on them, as I remember.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bearings!
I knew they had two different guard/head styles for the 20" units, And another head-style for the power-feed versions.

There's a service bulletin on Vintage Machinery just on the bearing issues.

Luckily I have a Motion Industries store only a few miles away & I usually just bring the old bearings with me to the store. They will measure the bearings at the counter & match them up using their computers cross-reference program. Usually they'll have several options on price & quality for the bearing needed.

Some of the Walkers need a sleeve to get to currently available bearings. Not sure the 20" is in that category; seems like it was a smaller DP.

I have a 1947 Delta dp220 floor model drill press that is on my list of restorations. I'd like to keep it as close to original as practical. The pulley cover needs replacing, and I'm hoping someone can tell me if the red Delta Milwaukee emblem with the black triangle is the correct one for that year? Does anyone know where to buy just the emblem? (there are a couple pulley covers without an emblem I'm looking at) Also does anyone know if this year and model had the belt cover? The main "not original" feature I'd like to consider is a rack and pinion for the table, would this be simple to add? Thanks!

As far as the emblem, probably best to ask over at OWWM, lots of Delta experts/fan boys over there. Pretty sure the DP 220's came with a cast iron front belt/pulley guard, and the add on cover for the whole belt was optional, and extra cost. Not sure I've ever seen a DP 220 table raiser. I do have a DP 220 head counter balance assembly that I always thought could be fairly easily adapted to work as a table counter balance instead, PM me if that strikes your fancy.

This link to Vintage Machinery should be
The Manual for your drill press.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they were still used in the early 50's, So I would guess it is correct for your drill press.

They made table lift assemblies for the production table DP-220 models, But they are hard to come by!

You may be able to find a Walker Turner lift assemble that will work as long as the column is the same dia.

Yes, but make sure it says Delta Milwaukee and not Delta Rockwell. The Delta-Rockwell era started in 1948, although they continued to use the Delta Milwaukee badge until they ran out. The first image is a 1944 and the second is a 1948. Both badges are the same.

You also want to make sure that your pulley cover is sized for your spindle pulley. If you have the slow speed version, it will have the larger pulley cover.

Regarding the rack and pinion, unless you have a production table the table it comes with is a pretty light weight unless you have a cross-slide vise sitting on it. I do like the table raising mechanism on my 17" Delta DP though.
