TheRobotCow - Those are very nice pictures. I especially like the one with the extra long combination wrenches. Thanks for posting those.

Not a problem! I'm always happy to share pictures of my tools.
Yea they're great wrenches. I'd love to get the complete set someday along with stubbies.

I need those wrenches!!!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Find a dealer and order up a set. The hardest part for me was getting a hold of a Cornwell dealer. I filled out their online dealer finder with 2 different e-mail addresses and locations and never heard back. A member here (softailgarage) is a dealer so I sent him a PM to ask if he could help me get a hold of a local guy. I finally found a local rep with a facebook search and he replied to me e-mail within a hour and hooked me up.
The bad thing is I work smack in the middle between their corporate office and manufacturing facility here in Ohio and still had problems locating a dealer.

It seems that many people on here don't have a Cornwell tool truck in their area which is unfortunate. Ever since i really got to learn about Cornwell tools i really started to see all the hidden treasure they have.

I've been looking at those stubby ratcheting wrenches how do you like them?
Do they feel solid?

I haven't used them much yet but they feel as solid as my Cornwell ratcheting combination wrenches do. These aren't made by Cornwell though.

NOT TRUE!! Cornwell only manufactures some of their hardline in the US. If you were to pick up a Cornwell price sheet, only those items printed in bold print are actually made by Cornwell in the USA. Each year the amount of bold print decreases.

For example: Screwdrivers: black/blue handled ones Taiwan made, Orange or blue handled ones made in Germany. Fine tooth ratcheting wrenches made in Taiwan. All torx, hex, bit drivers are Taiwan made. Most of their pliers are Asian made. those that are US made are Channellock rebadges. Current tool boxes are hencho in Mexico at the Waterloo plant.

What are you left with that's US made? 30 tooth ratchets, sockets, extensions, and wrenches. Not that much when you look at their whole catalog.:wtf:

Some of my nicest tool dealers over the years have been Cornwell Dealers but, their line isn't all US made. There are lots of rebadges that can had for less from the original manufacturer. I have several of their tools but, don't think everything they sell is US made.[/QUOT

I visited the Cornwell truck and although wrenches, ratchets, sockets look extremely nice most items look to be outsourced from other companies and can be bought at or below Cornwell's price. Bought a pair of knipex 8 inch needle nose. Passed on their Taiwan made screwdrivers. I'll order Felo 500's instead. Really surprised looking at the price sheet how little is made in the USA. Post quoted sure nailed it. Prolly will try a ratchet at some point.

When I step on a Cornwell truck, it's not to buy their outsourced tools; it's to buy either their combination wrenches or their ratchets that they make themselves. I can get all the other tools some place else.

I've bought a few of the non usa tools from cornwell. Picks, a ball joint press, 3/8" impact, a few grinders, the square handled screwdrivers which are kinda my back up screwdrivers. My Cornwell wrenches i've had no problems with. A lot of people don't like their sockets but I use mine every day. 1/4 and 3/8 chrome deeps and shallows usa. I love the USA made ratchets but I have problems with the fine tooth ratchets. I traded my 3/8" fine tooth in on a JR30 because the lever would switch back on me when ratcheting.

Out of all of the long double box end wrenches those seem to be the strongest feeling. They aren't as thin as the rest.

Traded my TR72LH for a TR4. I'm starting to notice the chrome on the fine tooth ratchets chip easy. The USA cornwell ratchets I haven't had any chrome problems. I love the USA made ratchets but the fine tooth made over seas really lack. I've had good luck with Cornwells hardline stuff. I have a set of wrenches, a lot of chrome sockets and ratchets.

I was under the impression that the TR72LH ratchet body was made here by Cornwell but with an added in Taiwanese mechanism. Anyway, I'm very surprised that you traded up a 72 tooth for a 30 tooth.

On the ratchets, do they all have a quick release button?

No. None of Cornwell's pear head ratchet are quick release. That black round spot on the ratchet head above the direction lever is the back of the drive gear. It's not a quick release. Cornwell ratchets aren't sealed. It's a timeless design that hasn't changed for well over 60 years.

So much shiny in this thread.
Here is a hardworking wrench which has been out working or fighting since about 1935.

Been a while since I've took pics of some new stuff. Picked this stuff up for home. The Hex/torx socket set was half off a while back.

When I was working offshore West Africa, I would buy Cornwell tools to take to work.

No confusion with the rig mechanic's tools, and Cornwell felt much better than the Geodore, or Facom tools that the company supplied.

Anyone have a Cornwell Box?

Here's one I bought at an estate sale for $20 two weeks ago and refurbished, including some metal beating and painting. I was told that it was the estate of a retired mechanic and that this was his first box. The bottom was quite rusty but I think it's more than serviceable now. It's very heavy even empty.
