I've had the slides occasionally get "out of time" with each other on every box I've worked with from KRL's from the 90's on up to now. I find it happens more often on the shop box, which everyone slams the drawers, but even sometimes on my own box. It's not a big deal once you know whats happening. It's basically just the friction of the roller bearing balls sort of tightening up against the inner guide that holds them between the two track sections and keeping it from rolling completely from end to end. It is mildly annoying, but when I realize a drawer isn't fully extending, I just pull it harder until I feel the it come up against the actual stop of the slide.

My KRL has always done that...the drawers not fully extending. I really have to pull on them occasionally to allow full extension, then they gradually work back to not extending. I'm a hobbiest though and with more limited use I haven't given it much thought and have just dealt with it.

I think this is normal as well. On both the KRL's I've had every once in awhile I will notice that a drawer doesn't seem to be opening the last inch or so. If you pull harder at full extension sometimes it will actually move the box, so I usually just put my foot up against the bottom of the box and pull the drawer out a little more.

I have had this box for over year. And all drawers are full with tools and makes no difference at all. I tried pulling out hard on drawers still doesn't work. I have replaced slides on couple drawers I use a lot of every day. Still made no difference. My buddy has mr big epiq his doesn't do that at all on any drawer. Just pain when I got move wrench or sockets out of way to get something out cause drawer doesn't come out far enough. I said something to my snap on guy multiple times. Says hes looking into it. I am usually not one to cause issue with it. But its my ocd starting to kick in with it. Special since I use it everyday for what I paid for it. Thought it was my last toolbox to every buy.

My master series does the same thing. I really had to yank on the drawers to get them opened all the way.

First time I got them all the way out I found tools the previous owner left in there.

60" Cranberry with bright trim and stainless top.

I just love cranberry. I think its the best Snap on Color. I bought my base cabinet slightly used (and saved like 50%) and white was my second choice. Wish I could have found cranberry before I added the work station and side lockers.

Are you going to be adding to this one?

No, that is my co-workers. The Epiq's have gained a lot of popularity around the Hangar.

We need to maneuver around aircraft so no top boxes or hutchs. The most adding on you see is usually a cab height side box.

The longer/deeper boxes are nice since it becomes your mobile work bench.

I've got to agree. A lot of the Snap-On colors are really nice but for me, Cranberry is kind-of a Snap-On exclusive that screams professional tools to me.

Epiq vs. MasterJPG

KRL1022 and KETN682. I kept both boxes, but wanted a box with fewer, bigger drawers and the KETN fit the bill. The SS power-top is on it's way.

Both boxes are awesome. I really like the 3 full width drawers on the KETN Epiq's. If I ever replace my KRL1001 with an Epiq it will have 3 full width drawers.

BTW....if you check the sticker on the back your KRL box should be a 7022. The KRL1022 is taller by one 4" drawer.f23ecb97c697fdb680dfc497b118d69d.jpgKRL1022

It'll come out. Sometimes you have to hold the box and pull on the drawer.

does any one have a 68 epiq with the 3 top drawer configuration? If so do you like it, or regret not having 2 more shallow drawers in the box?

That's what I keep thinking, it just looks like it's a shortage of drawers. The 13 drawer has a better balanced look to it from the front. But looks aren't what it's all about.

Your coworker has the same box I do. First time I've seen another black with green trim.

Excuse the mess I was moving into the top.

Beautiful setup, I love the color. I have a 10 drawer 68 w/ locker and workstation in the same color on order. Can't wait to get it. My rep has the drawer guards and polished bottom protector panel waiting for the boxes arrival.

The rock and roll truck is coming to my place on Thursday, I may be ordering me a mini epiq too. Not sure yet, originally I wanted a locker, but it sounds like they don't make them so you can put 4 wheels on them anymore. My driver said that was how they used to come, but the website clearly says two wheels and not intended to be used as a stand alone cabinet. I figure when they crunch the numbers I will try to get them to add in drawer protectors for my original epiq.

Stouty, I doubt they changed much of anything on the cabinet frame / shell. They've always shown only two wheels in the catalog, but they ship 'em with those two swivels intended for use, along with two solid casters on a dummy bracket mounted to the other set of holes underneath. Maybe they stopped supplying that dummy set of casters, but I doubt there any difference otherwise. I had once thought to buying one left / one right and bolting them together.

Thanks guys, I think it would be cool to do. I am going to see what they have for prices, I would not mind getting a 60" with the triple top drawers, then get my own configuration of the lower part. But I am not looking to spend 10k on another box. It would have to be around 5k for me to even consider it.

When Rock n' roll comes around early april I may order one too. Heavy metal you don't keep your cart for most used tools?

If test leads and tap n die were my most common tools i'd be a wreck:shocking:

No, that "Baby Epiq was added really just for more drawers to supplement my 84" which was packed full. My options where kinda limited since I don't really have 15 foot long space to have a "Mr Big" with a locker, not to mention I'm trying to work to a future where I downsize / split up my tools.
This is my Epiq "cart" that I work jobs off of:

there's not really any "most common tools" that I'd want to roll to every job, though I will say that drawer full of all electrical stuff would almost be it if I where forced to pick one....seems like something going on in that department every day.....Instead, I stock 1 drawer in this cart with consumables / wire ties / shop towels and all that assorted necessary detritus, the other is for stuff mid-job: over flow tools from the pile on top / small parts removed, that sorta stuff.

Also you can buy two lockers and bolting them together

Becuase of my limited floor space, I had actually thought of getting 2 short height lockers together like that and set a 60" top chest on top of it and leave it as separate box / unit from my main one.

So the R&R truck just left, can't decide what to do, may even do nothing, but I wanted to see what prices others have seen. I also need the PN or model of Heavy Metal Doctor's "baby epiq" so they can quote one, if they really do exist. :dunno:

So two lockers would set me back $6735.12 after taxes, it ends up being 23% off list and that doesn't sound good enough to me, they offer 20% off at least once a year for lockers.

A 60" epic with stainless top (KETN60 series with 3 wide drawers) comes in at $6,646.50 after taxes. With this purchase they will also throw in the extra handle for the box and another one for my original 84" epiq. I use the 84 as a roll cart a good part of the time.

They also quoted an epiq mobile cart for $4,234.77 after taxes.

I have two weeks to make up my mind. :headscrat
