Re: Show is your pb swiss tools!

i get paid next friday will be treating myself to a new pick set beenwanting them for so long

Notice the picks, purchased individually, are much cheaper than the set in the kit bag. Personally, the bag isn't worth $15 to me...

I'll be getting the same set of picks!

Does anyone have any feedback on the PB Swiss Tungsten-tipped center punches?

They´re awesome :) The tip is very sharp so you can feel the scribed lines and make exact marks. The steel seems to hold up very well.

I am a big fan of their acetate file handles. They add vanilla flavor to neutralize their natural smell. lol
BTW PB Swiss background: They used to be called PB Baumann.

For small drivers I still like Wiha best. They are so light and you can get little screws lightning fast in and out. Almost **** star material.

If money were no object I'd put together a set of phillips, slotted, and torx classics. My limited use of screwdrivers for the stuff I do simply doesn't justify the cost however.

I'm a big fan of PB Swiss stuff. here in Europe the price is the same as most Wera stuff and sometimes a good China made set from the DIY store is the same price...

As said many times, very good quality and ergonomics.

Only have the classis 00 to 6 flat, some PZ+Philips. Planning to complete these sets with some of the modern series.

Maybe worth asking if this website ships to the US?

(link to a set of 14 screwdrivers PB Swiss multicraft, flat 0-6, 4x Philips, 3x PZ for 76 euro, ~less than $100 last time I did the math). They also have bigger sets with Torx and Inbus too, 30 pieces for 200 euro.

Thanks

losvre,
The swissgrip and the multicraft handles are the same size. The only difference is the multicraft are hard handles and the swissgrip is a cushioned handle.

Thanks for the reply gmt,

When we say cushioned, does it mean that you can squeeze them if you try hard?

I own hard plastic, wooden handle and rubber like the Bahco below but I am not sure how these Swissgrips would feel.

Do you think Swissgrip is similar to Bahco Ergo?

Great another thread to watch for (and owe a pic to)!

Was a big Wiha fan but got a PB Swiss when I needed a Pozi 2 and now I've been stocking up on the Swissgrip. Been trying to talk myself out of the slotted set.

What 15 years of daily, hard use look like: (maybe closer to 10-12 years, now that I think about it).

(I may have replaced the holder at one point, not certain, but I do use the holder as a hammer far too often. I replaced the 3mm at some point also. Most of the chipped paint comes from using cheaters or combo wrenches on the ends. The tips are all still nearly perfect).

Hello guys,

Could someone confirm if the swissgrip handle is really soft or is just the texture/ feeling different than the CAB?

Could you actually "squeeze" the swissgrip?

Sorry to ask but I need only a few screwdrivers and cannot afford to experiment about.

Thanks

I have both the Phillips and slotted swiss grip sets. I work in an industrial metal environment. The handles get absolutely filthy and are a pain to keep clean. The slotted have the best tips I have ever used. I don't find the Phillips to be anything special.

The swiss grip handle is similar to the Bahco ergo handle in terms of handle softness. The swiss grip may have slightly more give, but not much. Also the swiss grip has no hard parts on the handle while the ergo has both hard and soft parts.

Thanks all,

I will get a couple of them with the CAB handle.

For the Philips I am thinking to go with the JIS Vessel or Anex drivers.

I have bought quite a few tools lately and will get some photos up. I am just very busy with the job and the wife.

Have a good day
