Does anyone have any feedback on the PB Swiss Tungsten-tipped center punches?

Yes, you have to make sure you hit it straight on with harder metals, they can break otherwise. The standard punch tip is a bit more malleable for use on metals < 40 HRC

Have you used the punches and chisels yet much?

I have used them slightly so I cannot really tell how they hold. I will do some work in the neat future and come back with some feedback.

From the little use they saw it seems that would be more than good for normal steel and bolts.

These are my favorite screwdrivers bar none. One-piece blade/strike cap. Particularly the PB 8102 D slots with parallel ground blades and **** black hard rubber handles and black color coded stripe !

Like most PB Swiss stuff they have engraved serial numbers and unlimited time warranty.

Thought I'd posted this already. Obviously not!

I first encountered PB Swiss tools (or PB Baumann, as they were then) a good 25 years ago. I used to see them in firms who were doing high value mechanical or electro-mechanical work.

I used to see 'em a lot in the defence industry too, some in government facilities, but also where guys bought their own tools, which says a lot!

I didn't buy any till a local dealer had a set of ball tipped hex drivers, secondhand, for about £12 if memory serves. I bought 'em, and wow, was I impressed. Despite obviously having been well used, the tips were like new! Not only could I see little wear, even the chrome was still good. the handles, being CAB were in pretty good shape too.

I used those hex drivers regularly for about 5 years. they lived, and still live, on my bench, and get used the majority of times I need a metric hex.

Unfortunately, once I found their U.K. distributor, I couldn't resist more! regular screwdrivers were the first thing to be added, then of course Pozidriv and Phillips. Regular hex keys next, and of course punches, then onto the main course, so to speak, which has to be their 1/4 inch hex bits!

I use these a lot, and i've used most of the brands, but these are by far the best! I use their regular bits in one or other of their bit drivers for the majority of my "non greasy" jobs, and I use their power bits togrether with my Desoutter air screwdrivers when I'm faced with repetitive assembly!

If there's a downside to PB, it's that the majority of their tools are "metric only". I know they offer Imperial hex keys, and some screwdriver bits, but that's all. If it wasn't for that, they would probably be a big name in the aviation world too. I also find, that while their transparent CAB handles are great in a clean environment, they are less than ideal when you have greasy or oily hands, so Snap On drivers are still to be preferred in some environments. (Though their new heavy duty models, as shown by previous poster, may start to change that)!

Other than that, buy and enjoy! Here are some, but by no means all, of mine!6C846772-73B8-4AE8-98E6-E039E218A325.jpeg

Of all the tools i have come across over the years pb swiss are the best. The tips of their philips screwdrivers are far more durable than snap on's, ive pretty much replaced all my snappys with them..

Always liked quality and feel of PB Swiss. They're too expensive though, wish there were distributors across the country to minimize on import cost.

Some of it is but other stuff is chump change. That nail punch I showed previously was 3.5 euro and the small chisels not much more.

The dead blow hammer was expensive, but then again it works by internal washers moving on a round bar not shot or sand. The hickory is grade one, look at the straight grain.

The bits are color coded and strong and the cellulose handles even smell nice! They put vanilla essence in the mix as cellulose acetate butyrate is a natural wood product that normally smells horrible. You get what you pay for I think, but the Swiss Franc is insanely strong.

Great items all of these and of great quality.

If we do not spend some money to buy nice quality and dependable tools and and other goods we will end up with the only option of import ****.

Have a good day

I wanted a more ergonomic handle for my seam ripper, so I took a Swissgrip handle and epoxied a Japanese made SKC blade to it. :D

The awl (I use it as a pick to remove o-rings from oil filters) and the screwdriver has gotten a lot of use:

My trusty deadblows have seen better days:

My new PB Swiss additions. Decided to order the hammers from Werk10 in Germany, first time importing tools myself, but it went very smoothly and saved a bunch of money over US distributer prices. Fast shipping and great service. Will certainly be using them again. The rest came from Toollady mostly and a select few from Count On via Amazon. PB Swiss quality never disappoints.

Those tools seem to be top notch made.do you fellas find the hex feature for added torque at handle baseon the screwdrivers to work well?the snap on set i have use that same set up and imo i find my witte set to be far more useable when i need more torque with their thru hole in the handle.where i use another driver to use thru hole and press down while turning fastener.anyway ive heard nothing but good things about pb swiss tools and if they are pricey,so what tools are some fellas livelyhood so we need to invest wisely.

Don't get me wrong I would love to own some of their tools they all look very well made and very expensive...but every picture that I have seen so far has the laser type printing or some kind of silk type screen lettering on the screwdrivers does that stuff wear off in time???

I like for any company to have the deep punch type press for marking their tools, something that will last forever and show great pride of their workmanship, is it just some kind of labor saving thing for the pb swiss company to save money?

it works well but I like the hole in handle better

doesn't wear off with regular use .

I think punched lettering is a thing of the past.

this is the next level in screwdriver quality , nothing I ever seen before compares

and the price is actually not that high , just shop around.

I think PB Swiss is one of the very few tool makers out there that doesn't build to a price point, I feel they do things how they want and charge accordingly. Here in Europe they are expensive but not way over the top, probably 1/4 to 1/3 more than other good brands but you don't get much discounting or sales.

Anyone has any experience with PB 8215 screwdriver set for infrequent home use? Am I better of ordering a set of normal screwdrivers?

The only negative that I can come up with is the entrance fee, these tools are not cheap by any standards. But, one use and you will never want to use anything but them again.

Too expensive for infrequent home use. PB Swiss are premium tools for the demanding professional.

Oh man, I don't want my family catching me looking at that **** toolbox. What do you think about the hard handles vs the Swissgrip handles?

Hi guys,

My brother used to live in Switzerland and he offered me these two sets as birthday gifts.
Needless to say that I am highly satisfied of their quality.

So... first post (lurking for a bit). Hate to resurrect an old thread but it caught my eye because it's one of my more obscure tools: a PB Swiss made, DT Swiss brand spoke punch8d966918ad255fdf4f5db2e3418b31e0.jpg89ce3b1f81c79c0ed9e4d1fdc9b36bea.jpg

Like spine washers for bicycle wheel building, it's something from the past that has kinda faded. After learning a half dozen different approaches to wheel building, acquiring books, a building a few hundred, it's become part of my personal process.

My recent PB Swiss pickups. The more PB Swiss I buy, the more I enjoy using them. Picked up both 297/7 and 297/6 non rebound hammers from count on tools at 30% off since it looks like they have discontinued them. The 860H punch set which retails close to $140, I picked up off eBay NOS (I believe it was old smart parts stock but not totally sure) for $50 shipped. The 850B punch set was $26 shipped off eBay brand new. The knurled pin punches 1.5mm-9mm I imported from Werk10.com in Germany and saved a substantial amount over US distributor prices due to good exchange rate and their low prices. It was my 5th order from them over the past few years and the customer service is very good with very reasonable shipping to the states. I've paid full US retail for PB Swiss tools in the past with no regrets, but I just love getting great tools at a good deal, who doesn't though? I use my existing PB Swiss pretty hard at work and have yet to break one over the past few years. Hopefully the good quality continues. The red PB 304.5 deadblow I brought in from Mutusuura Japan on an order of Vessel screwdrivers I was unable to get here in the states. Lastly, the coin driver which fits Beechcraft King Air and 1900 avionics panel fasteners perfectly and stubby and extended 1/4 inch bit drive holders stocked with PB Swiss bits commonly needed on the flightline(also from werk10). Couldn't be happier with these recent additions
