Making an accessory for the Brick--my new Vanagon--that won't make it go any faster or run better. I didn't intend to do a triple-pass weld, but I forgot to turn the heat up on the old Sparky, so pretty much it was either that or grind out all the original weld.

Looks kinda' low--but I'm lazy, so

About perfect! The vise is attached with captive nuts and wingbolts, because--I may have mentioned this--I'm lazy and carrying it as two pieces--not to mention stowing it--is much easier. Work smarter, not harder!

It's getting a couple of coats of Rusto Gloss Black right now, then into the oven--if it fits.
Why do you have a Subaru badge on a Volkswagen? Just asking.

Yes his van had a *** change.
Not real sure what this means.

Having the EJ25 means 165 hp and 155 ftlb of torque, vs. 85 hp and 90 ftlb. (both optimistic) of the largest stock engine VW put in these (2.1 L Wasserboxer).

Maintenance-wise, it apples and oranges. The Suby engine is actually a modern engine, with OBDII and all. Since it's still a DO four, it feels and sounds like a hot-rodded VW.

Cross post from the RV thread:

The wife told me she wanted a rack to hang wet items to dry like swimsuits, towels, etc. I'd never seen one, but figured I could come up with something, and I built this.

The vertical mast is 1-1/2" square steel tubing that I welded to a 1/8" thk x 4" square plate. I installed stainless-steel rivet nuts into the bumper and attached it with (5) 1/4"-20 stainless-steel bolts.

The (4) horizontal arms are 1" square aluminum tubing, covered with pipe insulation. The arms are bolted to (8) tabs I welded onto the mast. These arms stayed locked into place during transport via M8 stainless-steel sping-loaded pull pins.

I spent more than I needed to because I used all stainless hardware, and had steel plate and mounting tabs laser-cut by SendCutSend.com, but everything fit perfectly, so it was worth it IMO. Bottom line is she was very happy with it. We're headed to the beach this weekend for the A250 celebration so we'll get to test it out soon enough.
