They certainly look cool but shouldn't they be attached to the frame and not the body?

Not necessarily. The sliders are the structure and any load they take is spread out over a large area. Many are also tied into the body mounts just behind the bottom of the body.

Frame mounted means a potential loss of ground clearance.

That rotisserie is exactly what I need to be building!!
Is a set of plans available for that rotisserie ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the guy that was selling these plans. Got them a while back. I modified a few things from the plans to suit my wants and needs as I went as well. Mainly used the plans for the "concept" I was going for. The plans were pretty much the same as I've seen retail ones so I figure they were somewhat copied from them anyway. Well worth the price for the plans as the time taken to make the plans must have been a fair bit.

Any way, finally finished it and am happy with how it came out. Just need to get time to mount the car to it now. Bathroom remodel kind of took over after it was finished.

I built a rotisserie year ago myself. Much simpler design than that one though! I had one goal in mind. Safely flip my '66 Mustang fastback in a low ceiling garage and not hit the garage door opener. It worked! If I can find pic, I'll post it.

With a angle grinder, overfill is there to provide a visual surface to take down as close as EYEBALL possible to the base metal. Its not good touching the stone to the basemetal. When its taken down as i need i take 240 grit sander and blend whats left of the bead into the plane of the basemetal. Then i go 400 grit then 600 grit. Buffing and the above is the most tedious part of the job.

Why stay off the base metal? Will it show after polishing?

Yes. This part is tobe chrome like using stainless. So if u hit the base with the g-stone its more time getting those hard scratches out when blending the weld with the base using the 240 grit step. Base is .050 thick and really don't want to make it thinner. cutwaters.com

I know Haggerty will. others:headscrat

Heres a pic of 1 i'm working on today with the bead taken down as far i go b4 blending whats left of the bead with 240 grit.

The bumper looks great Mike. Every time I see that WJ, I consider buying one. Too bad I have so much time and $$ invested in my XJ.

mineallmine that's a lovely looking stack of Beach boxes!

Here's my project from this weekend... I use my computer as my "home theater" as I don't do cable or satellite. Years ago I took an MDF drawing board I built back in college and threw some legs and a lip on it so I could have a monitor on the coffee table as a second screen, but it was pretty ghetto and blocked the bottom of the TV.

Fast forward and I collected enough scrap parts from work to build a monitor stand out of stainless. The base plate is 16ga, the uprights are 14ga, and the monitor VESA plate is 18ga. I work at a high-end fabrication shop but behind the desk processing orders and designing stuff so I think this turned-out OK.

Miller Diversion 165, Amazon gas lens kit, got a couple diamond-coated wheels on a bench grinder for sharpening tungsten. Tried to clamp and block with aluminium wherever possible. Had a couple bad welds but most were good. Don't have a proper welding table so yes, that really is steel mesh held down with a random vice so I don't burn the wood bench :lol_hitti

Will probably add a thin layer of foam on the bottom so it doesn't scratch the table.

Thank you. Mine and my wife's first Jeep was an XJ. It's what introduced it us into the Jeeping world and I've been hooked ever since. We had actually bought it for her daily driver and it was something we could flat tow behind our first motorhome. It was a 1992 model and we purchased it in 1995 when we bought our first motorhome. I built a foldable tow bar for it and we used it for some off-road exploring when we weren't racing and I was hooked big time. That's where it all started for us.

all metal i got was from scrap place. the top 3/16 sheet i got was free since he cut a hole in it. so i had to patch that of course my garage is a mess and re organizing it this week please dont judge my mess lol i'm usually more organized

all metal for this project cost me $85 i plan on making a bottom shelf and adding things to hold all my clamps, tools, etc.

Built this awhile back, but here are a couple pics. Homebuilt front bumper for my XJ to go along with the BoostWerks hidden winch setup.

Stand for a BBQ.

Project assigned to me at school (MIG class).

First big fab project for me.

It's upside down on the layout table. Not finished yet.

Main frame is mostly done. First coat of self etching primer is on. I truely hate painting so much. I can see a fee runs and I could not care less. Ironic as i put so much time and effort into the rest.

I'm sure you know, there's going to be little deflection on that swing portion, leave enough gap above the bumper.

Saw a cool mount the other day on a early 70's Bronco, had a two bolt horizontal adjustment to adjust for the deflection and straighten the gap

Yep. There's not as much deflection as you'd think as I have the spindle quite reinforced on the backside and less than 1/8" on the latch side as I preloaded it prior to final welding. I've built a few of these now so I have a pretty good grasp of the concept. The bumper on my personal Jeep has been on there for nearly 100k miles and almost 8 years with many miles bouncing around off-road.

 yeah, I did the pre-load as well, still a slight deflection, but I also added a Hi-Lift, and fuel cans and my spindle was set further out on the bumper.

interesting home made pivot;
