My enclosed trailer is too low for some of the camp sites we end up at, so I need to lift the torsion axles off the frame. Dexter makes brackets for the 3.5-7k variants, but nothing for the 8k's I have. Since they're mounted in a pair, I just drew up some rails to unitize them left and right. I drew them so they could be shot out on the same pattern and then mirrored at the press brake and farmed it out to a buddy's shop. Then I cut some 2x1/4" bar stock up to make end caps and ribs and burned it together.

The hydraulic pump on their 75 ton brake was having fits, so I told them it was fine to make relief cuts on the bend line to drop the needed pressure and I just welded them up, which is why there's so much HAZ along the length.

I am looking at doing something similar with my enclosed trailer. Keep us posted with pics on how it works out.

I dont even want to post up photos of my transmission jack axle stand after seeing that one. Haha. Very nice work wish I had customers willing to pay for that attention to detail and tig welding.

Oil service cart that I made. I built the frame but had a sheet metal shop make the trays - too big for my home made bender.

A project i did a few years back made the "Vintage Smoke" section of this issue of Diesel World Magazine. I ordered & put axles under this originally "Skid Machine". Also fabbed a removable towing tongue to tow it around.

That is so neat, I'm wondering if those were built for a tack rig on the front end of a pipeline?
Thanks for sharing

Originally placed by crane at longer term jobs like tank farms, shipyards etc. U can see part of the lift lug. I believe tack rigs had 2 dual generators pto powered by the crawler.

B4 shot in september 2016 when i got it.

Thanks Royce.

Right on Wrenchguy,
Right you are, all the tack rigs I welded off of, were set up as you describe.

Nice! I’ve seen a lot of the videos of it, it seems to weld pretty nicely, too.

I think I’ll stick with my old 200 for now though.

They bolted in pretty simply...other than the 1" error in the forward bolt hole pattern:mad:

Trailer finally has enough ground clearance. My BIL is upset he lost his paving machine for our excursions as my rear rollers were always dragging, smoothing out transitions.

I’m liking the oil cart. Can you provide more info on the dispensing part?

Aussie company called Macnaught make all sorts of fluid transfer kit.

Called BOP20 (battery operated pump). You get one motor/battery/charger in this kit.

https://au.macnaught.com/bop20-starter-kit

And then a stem for each oil container so don't cross contaminate oil or need to move oily stems.

https://au.macnaught.com/bop20-expansion-kit

Or video here

Works great, especially for gearboxes, differentials etc

Thanks for sharing. Amazon sales them. Going to need a lot of pennies to get one.

If you look up "PEPAKURA" you'll see that it is a form of paper art. I used a pattern there and blew it up to HUGE proportions and then used steel instead of paper. Its pretty interesting stuff!

Ok, that’s the “how”, now we’d like to know the “why”. What’s it for? A theme park ? A carnival? monster truck?
I mean, is it simply for display, or does it relate to a function or ho on a ride?
As a piece of art it is fantastic and I love it, I want to know the Genesis of such a project.

It sits in the yard as yard art. My whole place is kinda weird. I live in a barnlike building with a stone silo, I have a pond and waterwheel down back. The pumphouse is disguised as an outhouse, Theres an imaginary dog in the doghouse and so on.... Here's some pics...........

I'd say it's awesome, not weird!

Your fish fence plays tricks with your eyes for sure. Very cool too.
