Actually 5083 or 6 is common marine grade.

The boat is a Mako 246 which lives on a trailer and will be used in fresh and salt water. With its 150-gallon fuel tank it has the range to access all our offshore islands here. And it has accommodations (head/shower, galley, bunks) to be comfortable overnighting and camping in while on road trips.

I’ve been thinking of ideas to build one of these. I just don’t feel like spending $100+ on a cast one. Can you share some detail on what you did for the cutting edge? I was thinking of using an old axe head I have.

Just a quickie repurpose of a car jack. Added a nut so an impact driver can be used and a square plate (will add rubber pad) so jack can be used for different things.

This is the computer rendering of a body restoration cart that I designed for my MGB/GT project. It attaches to the leaf spring mounting holes at the rear of the cart, and the frame rails at the front of the cart.
Custom designed to fit MGB, but should be adaptable to other cars too. I'm going to be needing this when I remove the undercarriage.

Parts kit. I had the local metal supermarket cut up the steel for me. Wheels rated for 1100lbs each.

Drilled holes, deburred, and ran the parts to be welded through the sandblaster.

Didn't have the right tungsten for the TIG torch -white zirconiated was all I had. But used it anyway. Stuff is great for aluminum but it doesn't like steel. Flares a lot and the arc likes to wander. Needs constant resharpening. But it got the job done.

Just about done. Ran out of welding rod. Still need to finish the ends of the body adapter uprights. Then it will get a coat of epoxy primer paint.

Built some support brackets to replace the roof over my basement door. Stole design from a recently complete house of mine. Will be a couple weeks/month till installed. 3x3" tubing with 0.25" wall thickness. Legs are each 42".

The more I welder the grinder I am.

The idea for moving the compressor on a mobile base is awesome. I am going to have to barrow it. I was stressing moving a 500 lb Compressor over some rough terrain, a few mods and that will work on a road of plywood. Thanks

I built this with my son. Took an evening to build it and then painted it the next day. He had recently gotten a 16" bike and we had two 12" bikes that were going to get thrown away. He also wanted a pedal car but I'm just too busy at this time to spend much time on this type of project. I figured if I didn't have to make a rear axle it could be done quickly so we made a revers trike. Frame is pieces of the two bikes and part of a stock RZR cage, shock is a PW50 takeoff, seat was one that we used to use to take our youngest on the back with us, and the steering "wheel" is the stock handlebars cut and rewelded . Total cost to me was 8 dollars on a chain and even though its a bit goofy looking, he thinks its the coolest thing in the world.

Made a new front foot for my engine stand. The original was too wide for me to run the stand under my hoist far enough mount an engine easily. So I made a new one that’s 6” narrower. Loving the Autoset on my new Miller 211.

Something is wrong, the Hobart should have been dead on and as good arc as the 211.
