We bought a place in the country last summer. I have 3 acres that was leased out before. Last fall we plowed everything. I'm planning on hooking it to the back of my disk to help break everything up as good as I can. Not sure if I'm planting alfalfa, waterway grass, or some other mixture.
Vintage motocross track laid out with about 2-2.5 acres left for whatever I end up planting. I'll be able to bale what we aren't riding on assuming I find a reasonably priced rake and baler. Then I'll use the rotary hoe, disk, and a trip lift cultivator to keep the track nice.
Was hoping to try it out tonight but the front axle on the hoe has a bend in it. My Dad is going to bring up his spare torch and a rosebud so we can straighten it out. I don't have a rosebud for my torch and it was acting up this past weekend. Need to check it out.
jackson is **** if you ask me. i bought one few years ago and it flashed me several times. needless to say i got rid of it and wont own another. is hobart using colts adf lens like miller ? theyre decent
after the jackson i bought optrel e684 which i have love hate for it. and miller elite also i have love hate. the one helmet that never gave me any trouble of any kind is speedglas

I have had a piece of 2"x2" angle iron along the front of my table for awhile. Today I picked up another piece of angle iron to do a side. Makes a good catch tray for pencils, razor blades, nuts and bolts, wire brushes or any thing else and keeps them below the table height.
I tried piecing in some angle iron for the 45* corner but its a much steeper angle than the 90*. Ended up scribing and fitted some .125 sheet metal for the corner. Was hopping a bobbed of corner wouldn't hurt as much when I bumped into it. Ill let yo know!!

I didn't notice a brand on the lenses. It hasn't flashed me once and was a under half the cost of the Jackson.

It's mostly used for small lightweight stuff and engraving aluminum / bronze plates.
4" x 4" x 0.125" square steel tube welded together.
New England Affiliated Technologies (NEAT) 6"x6" X-Y stepper table bolted to an adjustable plate that allows me to true it to
the Perske Milling Spindle.
Attached to the top of that is an Anorad "Z" lift table.
Also have a 10" travel NEAT Z lift for coarse movements.
Use Inkscape to convert pictures / scanned images to a .dxf file then use Planet CNC to convert to G code - send to stepper drivers.
VersaCad for .dxf 2d cad drawings.
Not shown is a very large 3/32" thick orange silicone sheet installed when in use that has a cutout for the vise, keeps all metal chips away from the linear tables.

Needed to rebuild my tractor seat suspension linkage. I thought the springs were broken but it was the attachment point that completely wore through. All the pivot points are shot and the pins are to. I can reuse one of the brackets after cutting the pivot bosses off and welding new one on but I have to make 2 new brackets as they were too far gone. Here is a pic of the main bracket about 90% done and what the old parts look like.

Thanks. That’s what actually started the project. Had a normal 4x4 wood post for years and birds loved to sit on it and poop all over it. Thought to myself, what we need is something pokey up there to keep them off. Projects snowball as they often do…. Hopefully this (and two slippery coats of Mequiar’s Yellow wax) keeps them off.

I needed a new bedroom set for my new place but I couldn't find anything that wasn't junk or very expensive. So I decided to fabricate my own bed frame and my dad built the night stands and made the wood panel in his cabinet shop. I modelled the bed in CAD first then constructed the frame from 2"x2" x .100" tube and 2"x3" .188" angle. the steel is painted flat black and the wood is stained to be a walnut-ish colour.

Finished up the last of the brackets for the tractor seat suspension. I still need to make the pins, cut to length and drill for cotter pins, but the rest is done. I mocked it up using bolts for pivot pins and tried it out on the tractor. Been a long time since I had the “springy” feel. Much better than bottomed out. Don’t know why it rotated the second picture, I took them both the same way.
What size bed? that looks bigger than 2x2 in the pic, i really like it

The tractor suspension seat rebuild is finished and painted. I didn’t take pics of the pins, just cold rolled steel cut to length and drilled for cutter pins. 
Here it is installed on my 1984 Kubota L245DT tractor. She lived a hard life working for a landscaper before I rescued her to live out her life on our 5 acre “farm”.

Check out Trac Seats suspension kits. Put one on my Toro even though they said it wouldn't fit. Really takes out the sharp bumps.
This may not qualify as a real welding project since it only involves tack welds but I thought it could be “thread filler” until a more interesting project comes along.
I don’t own a motorcycle but I bought this lift on Amazon Warehouse Deals a few years ago and it’s proven to be very handy for other things. However, there have been situations where it would have been nice to have had the mobility of casters. I almost went that route but decided on these anti scalp rollers instead.
The rollers allowed me to keep a low profile and keep the modification as simple as possible. It won’t have the freedom of movement of 4 swivel casters but the nylon rollers are fairly easy to scoot sideways on smooth concrete.
I didn’t want to get too carried away with the welds so as to not distort the channel for the scissor lift. And it will never have more than a few hundred pounds on it anyway.

Great! I like the idea of the rollers for some other stuff too. Much less wobbly than the cheap squirrely casters some things have on them.

Fencing project I’ve been working on between other projects. The fences on our place may as well be non-existent, save for one side that was actually replaced in the last century. Anyway, I’m chipping away at it slowly.

Thanks! These are pre-made hinges that I bought at the steel yard where I bought the gate, and I oriented them so the grease zerk would be to the outside of the fence. That just so happened to put the nut on top!

Modified an 8' cattle gate into a garden gate.
Cut open the arch tube to insert about 30" of 3/4" black pipe while the remainder of the 6' stick stayed extended. Drilled 5 holes thru the gate, end two installed self taping metal screws to hold the black pipe tightly in place. Plug welded the inner 3 holes then removed the self taping screws and plug welded the end holes. Also welded the slit insert end. The spreader bar at the top is 1/2" black pipe and I used a hole saw that matched the OD of the 3/4" pipe to notch the ends. Ratchet strap was used to hold the spreader bar tightly in place for welding. I used my Lincoln Mig with gas. Was quite windy and welds are not very pretty. Lastly I zip tied the fencing in place.

Welding / machining project. This is an upper stem for a fire hydrant. Like most things they are hard to find right now and the upper retention nut threads were stripped. Machined the old thread remnants off and built it back up with weld. Then turned to size and cut new threads. Polished the bushing and turned the bottom where it engages the lower stem. Sandblast & paint. Should be good for a while now.

Favorite 70S-2 TIG Filler Rod? Beside being mesmerized by all of the masterful beads being laid down just wondering if the brand of TIG rod makes a difference. Probably more the skill of the welder, but thoughts?

Personally for a couple of the general TIG rods such as ER70S-2, 4043, 5356, 308L, etc. I have just been using whatever my local welding supply house stocks as I can get them relatively cheap as they buy in bulk quantities. I believe the local welding supply house mainly carries Bohler, Sowesco and some Harris.
When I get into more specialized such as ER80S-D2, 4943, Ni99, 309L and several others I have been purchasing them from Arc Zone and have been pleased with the price as well as timely delivery.

Thank you. Headed to my LWS for the 70S-2 who carries Pinnacle so was just curious. Figure it can't be too much different since it has to meet some content spec to qualify for each variety.
