Cromagman...what did you use for the finish on that trash can? Is that just an ebony stain? That is the finish I would like to accomplish with my kegerator project....not really a wood project but it does have wood in it ;) :

Some bathroom cabinets I made a few years ago:

bath3.jpg

bath1.jpg

Railings I built to replace the original 60's - 70's black wrought iron:

rail5.jpg

rail4.jpg

rail2.jpg

A spice rack, which is now mounted on a wall. I also made the table it's sitting on about 30 yrs ago, and the napkin holder rin the background:

spicerack2.jpg

And a cover for our doorbell:

doorbell.jpg

I'm thinking of retiring in a year or so, and hoping to be able to do some more woodworking. I've always found it to be both rewarding (if it comes out OK!) and relaxing.

I did use Ebony for that and the fishing pole rack that is darker. If you would like a brownish tent to it use Spanish Walnut.
I used a old T shirt to apply it so that's why is looks dark and it was sanded to 120.
Why you see a runny look is because it was my first time using a paint gun and I was applying a stain locker.

I made this dining table extension for my bar/counter. I used elm that was milled from some historically significant trees in my town that were cut down due to infestation.
I bought the turned legs, but made the rest.

Very nice! I like the over all look of your place.

We are knocking down our house in spring and building new.

I have been looking at a lot of houses online for ideas and I like the look of that stairway.

All of my iron balusters came from this place:

Here is a shot of the upper end of the stairway:

Note, this was before the balusters were glued in and the collars installed around them.

I would love to make a few things out of wood, I tried wood work in high school but not succesfully all my stuff fell over or just werent nice. I guess thats why im a trainy machinist.

I now and then get tempted to try and make something but I would have to do it with squares and guides and stuff so that my cuts and everything are actually straight. If I tried doing it all by hand even with power tools it would be a masacre.

My dad spent quite a few years as a wood turner and he allways said that wood take a special kind of person to really make stuff out of it.

Nice canoe. I built a small sailboat in college. I built in my second floor apartment in San Francisco. Then I had to rent a lift and remove the window to get it out.

Now I stick to things that fit through the door.

Try some small things like a shelf. they are supper easy and you only have to make a few cuts

trainer,

Great canoes !! I would love to try to make one but I don't have the funds to :/

Down the road from Dorothy and Toto
I have a few nice long sections of osage orange that I plan to use for this.
It's supposed to produce one of the finest bow materials known to the tribes.
When I get some time and figure out a few details on their technique.

Yes, excellent choice. I've made several out of hedge. If you haven't already, check out the rag mag primative archery. They usually have back issues to score a particular article.

Black walnut curio cabinet. Top drawer is a wine drawer. Other is a business file.
I did this to a Japanese Artisans stylings. 90 hours.

Thats a nice job, raised panels and the whole bit.
I think black walnut is starting to come back into style, it
never left being in style IMHO.

Here are a few of the things around my house that I have done. not to mention all of the stuff for Friends and family I do not have pics for.

The first pic is of the bookcases I made. The book case on the right we bought and I made the one on the left and the little one in the middel.

the second pic is of a clock I made in high school 25+ yrs ago.

The third one is a music center armoir I built. it has the stereo including a pull out for the turn table, over a 500 cd's on another pull out shelf and and 200 albums in the bottom

The fourth one is the fireplace mantel in the family room

The fifth one is of a picture fram coat rack I made

The sixth is a pic of the kitchen, I refinished the cabinets which were ash and then made new doors and drawers to match out of oak.

the Seventh is a folk art piece on the patio, the wife had the plant hanger and wanted it to look like it was window with shutter. simple but man do we get compliments on it.

Beautiful work Harleyrider. Are the curved doors band sawn or bent? Laminated?
