Here is my adjustable wrench collection. The first picture is mostly the Irega 99 series, also rebranded as Elora and Channellock, from 4" up to 24" long, with a Facom 18" thrown in there. I like the black phosphate finish the best. I'm not sure why, they just feel the best in hand.

Then we have the fine adjustment wrenches from Irega, also rebraned as Bahco and Channellock.

The two VDE adjustable wrenches on the top of the third picture are Elora and Gedore, made in Germany. The rest are Irega, except for the bottom one which is a Gedore 62P series 4" adjustable made in South Africa.

Then we have the cheaper adjustable wrenches including the made in China Crescent wrenches, and the somewhat gimmicky Craftsman locking adjustable wrenches. These are interesting not just because of the locking mechanism which can be helpful, but also from the toothed jaws for gripping into the surface. There's also a Proto 8" at the bottom, which is made in the USA, but still feels a bit cheap.

It was hard to get all of these adjustable wrenches in one picture, but that's just what I did in the last picture by stacking the different styles.

That 30in channellock is a beast! Wow.
Yes I was pretty excited to pick that one up when I found it for sale. I have yet to actually use it on anything, but when the day comes, I'll be prepared.

Interesting to hear. While I also have the typical ones shown, where you adjust with a screw, I find that they almost never stay tight and then they tend to strip the nuts. The Knipex are VASTLY better.

Ready to give my screw-adjusted wrenches to goodwill.

TOP 8” Exact Wrench has been the best adjustable wrench I’ve ever used. It has a two piece worm screw that keeps the jaw tight/precise without any movement. The thin bent jaw is also helpful for hard to reach areas.

The TOP mini adjustable also has tight movement coming in only second to the Exact wrench. Both are built very strong. I usually hate adjustables but these are quite different to regular stuff out there. Both are Made in Japan.

By far one of my favorite tools is my ADHWT8A which Snap-on has chosen poorly to no longer make.

8" Super Wide THIN JAW Adjustable wrench opens to 42mm.

Extremely useful to hold just about anything in a tight space.

I use them occasionally, i prefer wrenches or multigrip pliers.

Laundry room converted into a workspace.
Here's something to ponder. Why don't they put a bottle opener at the bottom of the handle instead of a hole? At least while we're taking pictures of the adjustable wrenches we could be enjoying a cold one.

I believe Bahco is the OEM for those and they still make them.

I like the look of those. Are they made by Facom or are they rebranded? Apologies if it's a stupid question. Just have never actually seen any Facom tool in person and they interest me.

They are made for Facom in China also the recent model 113.C, they produced the ancient N113 models in France, or the only identical models i've seen for the (113A) are the compact adjustables (USAG 294AC) / (Facom 113AS).

Just for the latest post, I would like to know, if possible...
Well, recently I've bought couple (five, to be exact) of Facom adjustable wrenches-spanners (cle a molette?) that are marked with No 113/length in inches, Facom France and on the other side is Vanachrome... That's for the four of the lot...
They are NOS, though they are bad chrome plated; tiny parts of chrome chipped, but then again, it's top tier tool manufacturer so it matters.
Head of wrench is slightly narrower than the latter model, one side is same, other, besides Vanachrome, has B.S.G.O.G. That one is slightly bulkier.
HRNTK, could you provide period when they were manufactured? Some interesting fact? Anything that can be related to these adjustables?

According to the 1945 logo this model appears and the two pics are for the oldest ones i say that because of the marking like their old wrenches (from FACOM written normally..... to the nut with three wings near FACOM) , the BSGDG vanachrome are older than the vanachrome one.

The BSGDG means (breveté sans garantie du gouvernement) Patented without gouvernement guarantee(french patent law started in 1842 and finished in 1968), clé à molette is wrench with roll.

Got a soft spot for adjustables. Thanks, HRNTK. These are ones I mentioned - minus one. Gonna post it little later. Example of bad QC.

Jaws aren't aligned. Interesting mechanism - worm isn't fixed by pin, but by two metal balls that are pressed by spring that goes throw worm. Channel in upper jaw throw which slides lower jaw is badly machined.

I picked this up today at the flea market for $2.
12" Owatonna Tool Co. OTC no. DA12.
Looks like a Crescent re-brand.

I have collected some more since last time I posted. Most of my vintage Bahcos:
IMG_6110.jpg

And also a (incomplete) overview of around 100 years of design changes:
IMG_5862.jpg

Bahco no 1, 71, 671, 0671, 8071 and 9071
I want to complete it with a 81 and a 9571.

The China generic are clones of that German one, look like they came from yhe same forge. I thought they came from an old American die but maybe not. The China has 4 turns on the screw though.
