I'm pretty sure it's for wood drill bits of some kind.

More Crown Top in the mail today. Thanks Ebay. This is one of the last pieces I needed for the recreation of my Grandfather's go-box.

A 9-4291 Metric Combo Wrench 10pc kit. It's missing the 10mm. The pouch is in great shape, no cuts and the vinyl is still supple. In fact, it's in better shape than the set my grandfather has been using for 50yrs. All the wrenches are clean and of the correct double line V code (=V=).

Woo-Hoo ! :rocker:

Picked up a nice set of crown top flat tip screwdriver bits to go with this Craftsman ratchet brace. The p.o. painted right over the logos.

Certainly it's not a genuine Craftsman "Crown Top" item, but I thought you might be interested in this piece I just produced using my LASER cutting system:

The dimensions are 160mm x 60mm and the materials are 1/8" Birch faced ply and 1/4" Birch faced ply, cut using the same file and assembled as a 3D inlay.

The centre pieces in the As and the R had to be recut as the originals fell through the mesh top of the cutting table.

At the moment, everything's all held in place with a strip of packing tape at the back.

Found brand new in a crown top box! VV series sockets.

I assume the metal tray is the ninth piece in this set!

Nice find !
Those must have been released during the change-over to the rectangle logo.

The Crown Top logo ended around 1973
The VV code started around 1974

One or both of those dates now may need a re-think.

Not sure where you got that 1973 ending date for Crown labels, I believe it went several years later and there was overlap. I have stuff with both Crown and rectangular labels on it
