I've got a Circle H sliding T for you Don. I'll get it headed your way in the next couple of days. Before the war, Sears called the 3/8 sets that were packaged like that "Fit Mor" sets. The 8pt sockets would have been an add on by a previous owner. If memory serves, there were 5 sizes of 3/8d 8pts.

I can say that again but I can't figure out how to post pics!!!
Use the icon to the left of the smilie at the top of the post box to insert a photo inside the body of a post. Use the [Attach files] button to attach thumbnails at the bottom of a post. One thing about the thumbnails I dislike. It is attached at the bottom a little grainy and zoomed in. You basically have to click on it to see the whole tool and see it in focus. I used to like to read a post and just look at a thumbnail without clicking on it.
But I DID just become well known!!!!!
Haha. Makes you wonder what the alternatives are... Unknown member? Barely known member? Member everyone disavows knowing? Member you would rather not know? :p

I am getting a kick out of some of the new terminology. "Posts" are now "Messages" and "Private Messages" are now "Conversations". I'm not trying to be picayune, but that seems backwards to me. When I type something out in the open meant for everyone to see it, it's a message? And when I send someone a private communique about a trade or their new address etc, we're having a conversation?

Thanks Lugz. I've got the mechanics of pic posting down but I keep getting "image too large". Not really wanting to have to resize every pic I post. I guess I'll figure it out sooner or later. I don't like the thumbnails either. I see some are having success posting large pics like we used to in the olden days. I'm trying to keep my trap shut about the new format, I know it was done for a reason. If I were in charge of deciding when technology changes were made, I'd still be listening to Johnny Cash on 8-track.

Ah, sorry. Misunderstood. I remember when I used to have to re-size photos here. Not fun. 700 x 525 if I recall. Or something like that.

I am trying to avoid the idiocy in those threads and find the practical tips etc. Frankly, the guys who act like any critique, even constructive feedback, is rude and ungrateful are just as bad as the guys who are insulting Ryan.

Quite late for Billings, but they must have hung on until MDF squeezed everyone else out of the action. It is interesting that the design had been finalized before MDF took over production of these wrenches.

Could this have been one of the last Long-C wrenches?

I thought I would share one of the things that I had worked last fall that fits the OP! ;)

I was able to obtain several Craftsman "power tools" from the mid-1930s that were either complete in box (albeit in a severely degraded box ^_^), near complete, or needed some work. The weird thing was that they didn't appear to have ever been used.

To try to gain some zen, I thought I would run the gamut through a restoration process. Some pieces needed new plating, paint, or refurbishment; however, they ended up turning out decent. I left the badges as found.

Sorry if the photos don't pan out. Colors are going to be a bit washed out, as I didn't really have time to prep my lighting, between shots. Not 100% sure on what the max file size/resolution is. I'm still learning the new site, hahaha!

Here is an example of one that I restored. All of the pieces are original (even the wood) on this one except one washer, the shoes, and the blade I had made for it. I already packed up the sled. I thought I would show a Long C piece off before it gets packed up like all of its other buddies.

Wow! I can't imagine finding prewar machines still in the box! I'm assuming they were all from a single source GW? Incredible find. I'm assuming the band saw in in it's original paint? Were there any tool stands included in the deal? As a prewar machine guy, I'm simply amazed. Hopefully we can see more once you get to your new destination. Safe travels!

I think it has to do with the part of the country I am in. Rural areas seem to be time capsules. There are quite a lot of areas available in the states we reside in.

About 2 years ago, I was able to acquire a complete set of Craftsman large power tools with machine turned fascia from the original owner with their original motors. Everything was excellently maintained. The older gentleman (89 years old at the time) told me he bought heavier duty machines and no longer needed those ones I bought from him. He said he still had work to do before he retired!

I came from a farming community as a kid. Most folks will help you find what you are looking for, if you are good to them!

I feel you...I live on the edge of metropolitan and rural towns so sometimes there is good stuff to be had if you keep an eye out.

I picked up a couple of "Pointy A" DBE's yesterday. The long one has a "V" forging mark, and the short one has a "D" forging mark.

I've hoped that this grinder would one day cross my path, and over the weekend it happened. It's in amazing shape, with the original grinding stones still on it.

The sliding tee arrived from JoCo (Thanks!) and I found the long extension on eBay. This set is getting closer to complete.
