In the 1956 Catalog there are (non Craftsman) tools made in W.Germany that has a Yankee style screwdriver but I cannot find a Craftsman version ,and in 1957 the style changes so maybe there was blip in 1956. 1699715439958.png

Here is how it appeared in the 1945 catalog. Looking through others now: 1699713946196.png
I hit it with a little steel wool to try to see additional markings on the screwdriver but was unsuccessful. The handle is a match for the one in the 1945 catalog. IMG_1121.jpegIMG_1122.jpegIMG_1090.jpeg
The handle on this Millers Falls ratcheting screwdriver is pretty similar. IMG_1124.jpeg

Time to bring this thread back to the top with a really unique find. It’s a 1940 - 1941 lathe bench cabinet with the cool art deco design. Drove 2 hours, one way, to pick this beauty up. Went with intentions of buying the whole kit but they wanted too much for the lathe that is missing key components. Grateful that they at least sold me the cabinet. Cabinet is soaked in oil and has your typical cancer / rust spots on the bottom.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
Dan

Umm, this is an absolutely spectacular find! Very rare and not many folks know about it or would even recognize it! You sir most definitely **** in the nicest way 😊. So many folks on here would give an arm and a leg for one of those. Definitely worth a full restoration

Nice finds guys.

Another little comparison just for the heck of it. I know I haven’t seen these two side by side in the past.

When I posted this early Long C breaker bar a year ago, I compared it to a different Hinsdale. This here is its Hinsdale twin. The two are pretty much identical, other than markings, and a minute difference in length.

There is a set of CM tappet DOEs about three blocks from my house for $20 bucks on CL. They're engraved with the PO's name, which is the only reason they're not mine. Seller only posted photos of one side so I'm not sure if they're "period correct". (I don't know Craftsman that well.)

Here are the long C Craftsman tappet wrenches that I currently have if anyone needs one or more to fill out a set.

I will add that I picked up this wrench holder recently for $2! It’s not perfect but you almost never find these, let alone for that cheap with the screw intact. I think it’s for tappet wrenches? 72090557312__29BD4E36-68D1-47EC-885A-E43291B84A21.jpeg
I may still have some of these if you need any for your Long C clip.

I’m not sure if I’m listing this in the right thread, but I’m curious to know if this Amber handle hacksaw has some relevance to Amber Handel socket tools, which I presume are a similar vintage… The manufacturing code on this is BF, not BE. Welcoming any comments as to where this places in the Pantheon of Craftsman collectibles.

My BB notes:

BB = Stanley, ca. 1939 - 1950 (This code only found on amber handled flat blade style screwdrivers, and a block plane; phillips screwdrivers of this same style and time period were found to have the I-circle code)

Would love to get one of the BF hacksaws! Here’s my small collection of craftsman hacksaws. The darker amber handle hacksaw is a MF. Do you guys think the swooping logo is original early 30’s or issued as a commemorative?

Yes you are adn Yes it does!

BF = Pre WWII Atkins (Saws but specifically the amber handled hacksaw)
Curious, Outlaw, if these were part of any specific master set that also included Amber socket tools, or if their aesthetic is a coincidence.

The Socket set with the amber handles is a set. the Hacksaw is in the 42 catalog separably. Could there be a master set in anther catalog? :dunno:

One amber handled hacksaw was in the catalog standalone, as you said. The other was part of a tool set (not the amber handled Deluxe set, though).

The 1941-42 catalog has what appears to be the BB hack saw. The 1944 catalog has the BF amber style handles.

To my knowledge your saws are original. I’m not aware of a reproduction hack saw with the original wavy logo

Todays find. Almost Complete All BE “Long C” marked 1/4 Drive set in generally terrific condition. Missing 1/4 drive plug and possibly an extension. The interesting elements to me are the beautiful flex spinner and what I believe is original Tommy bar.

Nice. Those flex spinners are hard to find in good condition. I might be able to help with a 1/4” plug. I just received some D-I ones from BK.

Thanks for the offer, Don. I’ll probably just turn this set out as is with disclosures.
