I found the smallest of these wrenches hiding in a pouch of crusty wrench roll I bought today. That was a pleasant surprise! I seem to be finding these in pairs, so I expect to find another 5/16"/1/4" to go with it. Someone turned the big end into an 11/32" wrench on this one. Oh, well.

Which ones came first, with VANADIUM, or without?
(I'm guessing VANADIUM marked wrenches are earlier).

One more photo just for fun.

As in at all? Or under a Long C branding?

Vanadium, so Prewar!

I don't usually come across these, especially with long C branding in such good condition. In general I usually come across the rolling head lady's foot type pry bars.

Can you go 2 for 2? This one is a mystery and I can't seem to find any info on it. Craftsman isn't really my thing so it could just be lack of knowledge, but im thinking this is definitely some kind of oddball. The tools are vanadium but it almost looks like half of a early c series set mixed with a regular vanadium set case. The heavy duty latch is pretty peculiar toScreenshot_20250726_165804_Messenger.jpg

There are several guys more well-versed than me on these particular sets in that era.
This is a fairly rare set made by hinsdale. The ratchet goes for big money. There is one on eBay right now

I found this partial Craftsman BE 1/4" drive set this morning at my local car boot sale. The black crackle finish box still has the remains of a "Craftsman Tools" decal inside the lid.

DSCF0443R.jpg

The sockets are 7/16", 3/8", & 11/32" 12 point. 9/32" & 1/4" 6 point. 5/16" & 1/4" double square.

There will very little chance of me finding the missing items here in the UK. Can anyone tell me what the full set would have contained?

The box also contained various King **** 1/4" & 9/32" drive sockets and a Britool 9/32" drive universal joint.

If you decide to add a water-slide decal, follow the examples Don has shown and install it off-center and somewhat crooked. I have never seen a box that wasn't "restored" with a centered, straight, flat decal where it "should" be.

Not sure why that is, though.

Edit: Not saying those boxes by Don are restored. Rather, EVERY SINGLE Box from this era has had crooked decals from what I have seen.

Coleman must have hired the same guy, as their lanterns had the same issue.

Saw an add on fb market place the other day. Someone posted a mohawk dp (sans correct motor and belt guard) nearby my house so hopped right on it. The pictures were not very good but I have yet to see one in my area that's even presentable or not beat to absolute scrap metal. I ran over to the house and actually paid more than the asking price because it was so clean! The inside has some saw dust in it but other than that, it hardly shows much use. No arch of shame on the table! Unfortunately someone drilled into the side of the head to mount a switch but other than that, it's a really nice one! Even the water slide decal is in good shape! Now I just need to clean it and put new bearings in it and then find a belt cover for it. Model 103.0303 so we know it's king seely made.

*if someone does have a belt cover for this, I would be interested in purchasing**

It’s been a while since I have been on here. I started this spring working on collecting the Craftsman BE 1/2”drive set. I wanted a challenge. I have 20 different sockets in this setup. I will be posting more goodie’s. I really like this thread so far. I’m still reading and looking.
