Scored this super small but very cool Fulton torch and this set of small needle nose pliers for a total of $10 today.
@Smokeshow69 -
Please check with these guys before you set yourself on fire or burn your house down.
One of 'em might have the owners manual for that gadget.

Do those funny little pliers with the "nested diamonds" handle pattern say "CRAFTSMAN VANADIUM" on them?
Yes... they do... and I thought they looked familiar!
(I found a Proto #98 3/8" punch for you, but some dimwit ground the business end down to a point!)

I haven't tried to fire it at all. The bottom says alcohol

It may have been made for Sears by Lenk. I have an Alcohol Lenk (Brass - no plating) but have not fired it as the valve is stuck, stuck, stuck...

Please check with these guys before you set yourself on fire or burn your house down.

Do use a proper lighting procedure as without proper preheat these can be quite the flame thrower! Especially the Gas units!

Due to an instinct for self preservation, I have never been temped to fire up any of my Craftsman and Dunlap blowtorches, whether they are alcohol or gas.

This torch is going into the display cabinet but isn’t a user. No firing for me

To me its just another GPA (gas powered Appliance), only the burner is aimed 90 degrees more or less from any other GPA

Fuel
Pressurize as needed
Preheat/light
Fire!

A couple more steps than a propane torch, but essentially the same result.

Got a bunch of of good long c stuff today!

-early long c top chest. This is the mid size 2 drawer box but it's an early version. It has no drawer slides and just rides on brackets under the drawers. Box is dirty and needs a good cleaning but box is really straight and rust free!
-2 rotary tool boxes and 1 tool.
- long c 1/4 drive set with black paint
-3/4 drive set with carry box
-long c plane
-**minty 1935 Power tools catalog** pretty stoked on this one!

As part of yesterdays tool blitz I found this really nice Long C framing Square. It is aluminum and has a very nice ,contrast/filled lettering making it easy to read. A keeper for sure.

The below set in the box isn’t mine, but what the above set would look like complete. I saved the pictures from some random auction site a few years ago, and ran across them again. The tools look mint. Hopefully the buyer made out due to the horrible pictures with hardware piled up  Someone here perhaps? Anyway, thought I’d post them for all to enjoy.

Picked this one up at a yard sale yesterday for $20. its cleaning up really great, and both the leatherette and the felt are in remarkable condition. I'll get after cleanup pics tomorrow:

It's not the box I hoped for (all oak) but it also wasn't all metal, it is leatherette covered wood case and metal drawers - it is an old Long C Craftsman machinist's box with the Long C logo intact. Good enough! The ask was thirty, I offered $20 and he took it:

It is old enough that it has no slides at all... I already got the whoppies out of he bottom drawer front.

Thx guys!

Anyone have a catalog/age for this one? I found a Dunlap version in the 1942 hand tool catalog, but striking out for Long C.

Key Identifiers,:
Dark brown Leatherette over wood case
Metal drawers
No slides

I would use Ted's site and ID it by mfgr. It looks like it could be a Union, 1943-1944. In 1945 they went to the formed sheet metal pulls, like mine. Is there anything on the center hasp?

EDIT: That's my 45-49 wooden Union in Don's cat excerpt on the right. I'm thinking they may have also badged the leatherette/steel one on the left as Craftsman for Sears in the earlier period (43-44) with the round pulls, but I can't find the right reference. @toolboxted would know.

How about this? I didn’t save the date. Unfortunately it’s the oak one

So there are at least 4 "versions" of the machinists box , plus marking variants:

All oak with drawer guides: (Craftsman) as shown in your ad.
Leatherette covered wood case with metal drawers no slides (Mine, marked Craftsman)
Plywood case metal covered and metal drawers, (Dunlap) as shown in your ad and in 1942 catalog
All metal similar to, if not supplied by Kennedy.

It looks like it could be a Union, 1943-1944. In 1944 they went to the formed metal pulls, like mine. Is there anything on the center hasp?

Its marked Excelsior

Post basic cleanup for the leatherette machinist box - I'm pretty pleased with it as is. Minimal damage and the worst on the bottom drawer front is now fixed. Leatherette "finish" is gone from a ring on top (not white paint as I originally surmised), but the rest is pretty good! :

The felt needed basic vacuuming for dust and generally looks very good. Maybe one really noticeable wear hole, and a couple of corners need re-glueing, and a couple of small oil stains I may attack with Spot Shot (stuff is magic).

Boston drawer - it had a lip kink and my SM tongs did the trick again. About wher the tongs are pointing - I thought at first it was cracked and I'd really need to work at it but it was good. the whoopir on the lef front came out with one fleax adn thne ath tongs again to take out the mild kink I made doing it.

1943-44. There are two versions of the "Fabricoid" covered plywood & sheetmetal machinist's tool box - Craftsman and Dunlap, as was already shown (I own both). Presumably, these were made out of necessity due to war time rationing.

Thanks Brian! other than the latch (artist rendering?) , that seems to be a match!

Do you know the OEM/supplier?

It's interesting I suggested the same dates...
It looks like it could be a Union, 1943-1944.
...but completely different source (Ted's machinist chest site) than you, because Union was making the oak versions with the same configuration and pulls.

Is that enough for us to reasonably infer Union made the Fabricoids?

I never put much faith into artist's renderings, as you no doubt understand, but I think it's close enough! Here's mine which I'm guessing had the hardware painted by a previous owner. I'm also attaching images from both the 1943 and 1944 catalogs for comparison. The Dunlap box, on the other hand, has VERY different latches.
