Neat stuff Riley! I'd like to find one of those old Painting compressors for light duty stuff! that Yardstick looks new!

Can you post pics of the inside of that index? If its the one I think it is, it's made by General.

Went to a sale in Salem, ad said old tools (among other cool things) not much of interest, but he had a whole ton of brace bits, and I found two that were interesting. Pretty sure I know a guy in Portland who would be interested in these!

Those should clean up nice! You know every once in a while I manage to get a couple of pieces of craftsman from him and he does get some plomb from me[emoji16] he gave me a good crown top carry box for a tool kit I am assembling as a graduation gift!

I picked up a few pieces at a garage sale last weekend. A tappet wrench and a female 1/4 inch ratchet. Now to find a drive plug so I can use it.

Craftsman hand saw. I lightly block sanded the metal to reveal the etch, is pretty good. Handle is just wiped clean.

Dang! That's a nice saw! Almost makes me want to collect saws! (I say "almost" because I need yet another niche that takes enormous amounts of dedicated time to understand like a need a crosscut saw blade in my head! You guys know what I mean, right? You see something outside your areas of expertise at the flea market and it looks special and you get it home and find out, nah, not so much.) Anyway, does anyone know who the OEM was?

Lug: I totally understand.
Saws, chisels, and hand planes are in the same category as fly rods or old radios for me. Three times in the last year I have run into a batch of antique wooden moulding planes. I stood there blessing my luck, admiring the fanciful mfgr's names etched into the ends, seeing dollar signs, but passed in the end because I just don't enough about them.

I grabbed it because of the logo.
I suspect your instincts were excellent. If a saw guy out there doesn't immediately know who the OEM was in those years from research, I bet he could identify it by the features on the wooden handle alone.

Craftsman Circle-H 1/2" drive, 20" long extension. It's the first one I've ever seen. When it came up on eBay, I snapped it up for $18.99 + shipping.

I found a #3 Long-C Craftsman tappet wrench today. It was all covered with grease, which preserved it.

Another Long-C pickup from yesterday: rotary electric tool.

Runs, but I think it needs some lubrication. The directions are a nice touch. It looks like a custom made box.

Nice. I suspect you're right on the box. A few in their original boxes have been posted upthread. Notlob has a beaut, as I recall. What are the owner's markings on the lower right edge?

I picked up this pair of extra deep 1/2-inch drive sockets today, 3/4" and 7/8" service openings. Both Long Geometric C Craftsman (H)

Some guy had 3 very nice 1/2" drive BE deep sockets at the swap this morning, 7/8, 1 1/16" and a 1 1/8", but he wanted $2 each. There was also what looked to be a very nice and old Husky 1/2" drive deep 1/2" socket as well.

Considering the going rate for those deep sockets on eBay (just try finding one socket shipped for under $5), $2 each is a bargain - especially if they're not engraved!

The long c below is missing a guard tool rest eye shields and other bits. Question- could this work as a buffer @ 1/3 HP?

If its light duty, yes. big wheels and heavy cutting, probably not a good choice.

My Dad polished out a Savage model 20 bolt action rifle with only a 1/4 HP belt drive buffer, (6" wheels? maybe smaller...) when I was a kid. I tried buffing with it in later years, and it was pretty iffy..

Man, that looks good ! I like the sweaty look on vintage tools. Looks like you just cleaned everything well . Is the stand original ? It looks delta but maybe they made that lathe ?

Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

Thank You! The stand is a Delta scroll saw stand I found years ago, the lathe was made by Atlas. Yes, I mostly just cleaned and replaced a few parts that were missing. I kept my budget under the cost of finding one ready to go, so it wasn't too bad. Still more to find!

I'm good at remembering sellers faces. If I see him next week I'll look for them and buy them. I bet I could get them for $5.
I'll update if I can.

Outlaw- you think converting to a light duty buffing rig would be too much hassle?

That's easy, take the wheels off, take the guards off buy a couple of the smaller buffing wheels to fit the shaft and Bob's your uncle.

I'd think about a wider (relatively speaking) smaller Dia on one side for easy to get to areas, and a larger but narrow wheel for convoluted shapes and tight spaces.

Don't forget to get a set of the buffing compounds. They usually come is sets of 4 sticks for different grits.

It's been a VERY good week for my "Long C" collection! Picked up this bad boy this morning!

It's in good working condition. It's absolutely caked in sawdust, so I'm going too take it apart and give it a good cleaning.

I'm a little nervous about how the return spring is installed. I have an 103.0305 and I'm having a ***** of a time getting the return spring installed.

First Long C power tool I picked up. Oh, and it was free!

She couldn't tell me how old it was, but it had sat in their barn for 17 years. We pulled it out and the thing purrs like a kitten.

Picked this vintage paint spray tank at the swap meet. The cast is so cool! I’ve looked at almost all the catalogs from the late 30’s and 40’s but can’t find one that resembles. Any guesses.
